1 Judas, irmão de Tiago, ao serviço de Jesus Cristo, dirige esta carta aos que Deus Pai chamou e ama, e que Jesus Cristo tem guardado, desejando que a misericórdia, a paz e o amor se multipliquem nas vossas vidas.3 Meus queridos amigos, tenho tido muita vontade de vos escrever acerca da salvação que Deus a todos nos deu. Mas agora senti-me levado a encorajar-vos a combaterem pela fé que foi dada de uma vez para sempre aos santos.4 Digo isto, porque alguns indivíduos incrédulos se introduziram no vosso meio, dizendo que o perdão de Deus permite-nos viver na imoralidade. Desprezam o nosso único Soberano e Senhor, que é Jesus Cristo. A sua condenação está predita desde há muito.5 E queria lembrar-vos o seguinte - coisas que vocês já sabem - que o Senhor, quando salvou o seu povo, tirando-o da terra do Egipto, destruiu mais tarde todos os que não creram.6 O mesmo aconteceu com os anjos que não permaneceram dentro dos limites de autoridade que Deus lhes deu, mas deixaram o lugar onde pertenciam. Deus guarda-os na escuridão perpetuamente, para o grande dia do seu julgamento7 Também Sodoma e Gomorra e as cidades vizinhas se corromperam como eles e se entregaram a perversões carnais. Essas cidades foram destruídas pelo fogo, e são um aviso do fogo eterno que há-de punir todos os maus.8 E assim as imaginações de tais indivíduos levam-nos a desonrarem os próprios corpos, não reconhecendo nenhuma autoridade e insultando os poderes celestiais.9 Contudo, nem o arcanjo Miguel, quando se opunha a Satanás, disputando-lhe o corpo de Moisés, se atreveu a amaldiçoá-lo, mas disse: Que o Senhor te repreenda.10 Mas estes dizem mal do que não compreendem. E mesmo aquilo que conhecem por mero instinto, como os animais irracionais, só lhes serve para se corromperem.11 Ai deles! Porque seguem o exemplo de Caim; e deixaram-se seduzir pela ganância do dinheiro, como aconteceu a Balaão; e, também como Coré, a sua ruína será o resultado da sua desobediência.12 A presença dessas pessoas nas vossas reuniões de confraternização são como nódoas. Satisfazem-se a si próprios, sem receio de nada. São como nuvens que não dão chuva, que os ventos empurram de um lado para o outro. São como árvores sem folhas e que nenhum fruto apresentam, e que se tornam assim completamente mortas porque lhes morreram as raízes.213 Tudo o que deixam atrás de si é desonra, tal como a espuma que deixam as vagas agitadas do mar. Vagueiam como estrelas errantes que desaparecem depois nas trevas infinitas, o que é também o destino deles.14 Foi desses que falou, em nome de Deus, Enoque, o sétimo descendente de Adão, dizendo: Olhem que o Senhor há-de vir, acompanhado de multidões dos seus santos,15 para exercer o seu julgamento sobre toda a gente e condenar aqueles que desprezam Deus, por todas as obras más que cometeram na sua rebeldia, e que dizem, como pecadores que são, toda a sorte de palavras ofensivas contra Deus.16 Essas pessoas são eternas descontentes, sempre insatisfeitas, deixando-se constantemente arrastar pelas paixões carnais. Gostam de exibir um vocabulário espalhafatoso, louvando pessoas, mas unicamente por interesse.17 Mas vocês, meus queridos amigos, lembrem-se das palavras que vos disseram os apóstolos de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,a18 que nos últimos tempos haviam de aparecer indivíduos escarnecedores, vivendo ao sabor dos seus maus desejos.19 Eles já chegaram, e são aqueles que estão a criar divisões no vosso meio. São levados pelos seus instintos naturais porque não têm neles o Espírito de Deus.20 Vocês, contudo, queridos irmãos, construam a vossa vida espiritual sobre o alicerce da vossa fé santa, orando conforme o Espírito Santo vos dirigir.21 Conservem-se no amor de Deus, esperando a chegada do dia em que nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo vier e manifestar a sua misericórdia, dando-vos a vida eterna.-22 Procurem mostrar compreensão para com aqueles cuja fé está vacilante.23 Ajudem-nos, arranquem-nos do fogo. Para com outros mostrem compaixão, mas tenham cuidado para não serem contaminados pelos seus pecados.24 Toda a glória seja dada a Deus, aquele que é capaz de vos guardar de tropeçar e de vos trazer à sua gloriosa presença, inocentes do pecado e cheios de alegria.25 Toda a glória seja dada àquele que é o único Deus nosso salvador, através de Jesus Cristo nosso Senhor, ao qual pertence a glória, a majestade, o poder e a autoridade, desde sempre, agora e por toda a eternidade. 1 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:2 Mercy to you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write to you concerning the common salvation, it was needful for me to write to you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith, which was once delivered to the saints.4 For certain men have crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.6 And the angels who kept not their first state, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness to the judgment of the great day.7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to impurity, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.11 Woe to them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and run greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about by winds; withered autumnal trees, without fruit, twice dead, plucked out by the roots;13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convict all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have impiously committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;18 That they told you there would be mockers in the last time, who would walk after their own ungodly lusts.19 These are they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying by the Holy Spirit,21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.24 Now to him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,25 To God the only wise, our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever.
