1 And the LORD said to Moses,2 "Say to Aaron and his sons, and to all the people of Israel, This is the thing which the LORD has commanded.3 If any man of the house of Israel kills an ox or a lamb or a goat in the camp, or kills it outside the camp,4 and does not bring it to the door of the tent of meeting, to offer it as a gift to the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD, bloodguilt shall be imputed to that man; he has shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people.5 This is to the end that the people of Israel may bring their sacrifices which they slay in the open field, that they may bring them to the LORD, to the priest at the door of the tent of meeting, and slay them as sacrifices of peace offerings to the LORD;6 and the priest shall sprinkle the blood on the altar of the LORD at the door of the tent of meeting, and burn the fat for a pleasing odor to the LORD.7 So they shall no more slay their sacrifices for satyrs, after whom they play the harlot. This shall be a statute for ever to them throughout their generations.8 "And you shall say to them, Any man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice,9 and does not bring it to the door of the tent of meeting, to sacrifice it to the LORD; that man shall be cut off from his people.10 "If any man of the house of Israel or of the strangers that sojourn among them eats any blood, I will set my face against that person who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people.11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it for you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement, by reason of the life.12 Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, No person among you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger who sojourns among you eat blood.13 Any man also of the people of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, who takes in hunting any beast or bird that may be eaten shall pour out its blood and cover it with dust.14 "For the life of every creature is the blood of it; therefore I have said to the people of Israel, You shall not eat the blood of any creature, for the life of every creature is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off.15 And every person that eats what dies of itself or what is torn by beasts, whether he is a native or a sojourner, shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening; then he shall be clean.16 But if he does not wash them or bathe his flesh, he shall bear his iniquity."

1 O Senhor Deus mandou Moisés 2 dar a Arão, aos filhos de Arão e a todo o povo de Israel as seguintes leis:

3 Se um israelita matar um boi, ou um carneirinho, ou um cabrito dentro ou fora do acampamento 4 e não levar o animal até a entrada da Tenda Sagrada para oferecê-lo como sacrifício a Deus, o Senhor, esse homem será expulso do meio do povo de Israel. Ele é culpado; é como se tivesse matado uma pessoa. 5 Portanto, os israelitas, em vez de matarem os animais no campo, deverão levá-los ao sacerdote, em frente da Tenda Sagrada. Ali matarão os animais e os apresentarão ao Senhor como oferta de paz. 6 O sacerdote borrifará com o sangue o altar que fica em frente da Tenda Sagrada e ali queimará a gordura do animal. O cheiro dessa oferta é agradável ao Senhor. 7 Daqui em diante e para sempre, os israelitas nunca mais oferecerão sacrifícios aos demônios do deserto; pois, se fizerem isso, estarão sendo infiéis a Deus.

8 Todos os israelitas e todos os estrangeiros que vivem no meio do povo de Israel apresentarão ao Senhor as suas ofertas que são completamente queimadas ou qualquer outro sacrifício 9 somente na entrada da Tenda Sagrada e em nenhum outro lugar. Quem desobedecer será expulso do meio do povo.

10 Se um israelita ou um estrangeiro que vive no meio do povo de Israel comer sangue, Deus ficará contra ele e o expulsará do meio do povo. 11 Pois a vida de todo ser vivente está no sangue. É por isso que Deus mandou que o sangue dos animais oferecidos como sacrifício fosse derramado no altar a fim de conseguir o perdão dos pecados do povo. Pois é o sangue, isto é, a vida, que tira os pecados. 12 Por isso o Senhor diz que nenhum israelita e nenhum estrangeiro que vive no meio do povo podem comer sangue.

13 Quando um israelita ou um estrangeiro que vive no meio do povo caçar um animal ou uma ave que se pode comer, ele deverá deixar que o sangue corra para o chão e depois deverá cobri-lo com terra. 14 A vida de todo ser vivente está no sangue, e é por isso que Deus diz aos israelitas que não comam o sangue de nenhum animal, pois o sangue é a vida. Quem comer sangue será expulso do meio do povo de Israel.

15 Qualquer um, seja israelita ou estrangeiro, que comer a carne de um animal que tenha tido morte natural ou que tenha sido morto por outros animais deverá lavar a roupa que estiver vestindo e tomar um banho; e ficará impuro até o pôr do sol. Depois ficará puro de novo. 16 Mas, se não lavar a roupa e se não tomar um banho, essa pessoa será castigada.
