1 Sedan visade sig Jesus en gång till för lärjungarna. Det var vid Tiberiassjön, och det gick till så här: 2 Simon Petrus och Tomas som kallades Tvillingen, Natanael från Kana i Galileen, Sebedeus söner*21:2Sebedeus sönerJakob och Johannes (Matt 4:21), den senare "lärjungen som Jesus älskade" (vers 7) och författare till Johannesevangeliet. och två andra av hans lärjungar var tillsammans. 3 Simon Petrus sade till dem: "Jag går ut och fiskar." De andra sade: "Vi följer med dig." De gick ut och steg i båten, men den natten fick de ingenting.

4 *Luk 24:16, Joh 20:14. Tidigt på morgonen stod Jesus på stranden, men lärjungarna förstod inte att det var han. 5 Jesus sade till dem: "Mina barn, har ni inget att äta?" De svarade: "Nej." 6 *Luk 5:4f. Han sade: "Kasta ut nätet på höger sida om båten, så ska ni få." De kastade ut nätet, och nu orkade de inte dra upp det för all fisken.

7 *Joh 13:23. Lärjungen som Jesus älskade sade då till Petrus: "Det är Herren." När Simon Petrus hörde att det var Herren drog han ytterplagget om sig, för han var inte klädd, och kastade sig i sjön. 8 De andra lärjungarna kom efter i båten med fisknätet på släp. De var inte långt från land, omkring hundra meter*21:8hundra meterOrdagrant: "tvåhundra alnar"..

9 När de kom i land fick de se en koleld och fisk som låg på den och bröd. 10 Jesus sade till dem: "Bär hit av fisken som ni fick nyss." 11 Simon Petrus steg i båten och drog upp nätet på land. Det var fullt av stora fiskar, 153 stycken, och fast de var så många gick nätet inte sönder. 12 Jesus sade till dem: "Kom och ät." Ingen av lärjungarna vågade fråga honom vem han var. De förstod att det var Herren. 13 Jesus gick fram och tog brödet och gav dem, och likaså fisken. 14 *Joh 20:19, 26. Detta var den tredje gången som Jesus visade sig för lärjungarna efter att han hade uppstått från de döda.

15 *Matt 26:33f, 69f, Joh 13:37f, 18:17f. När de hade ätit sade Jesus till Simon Petrus: "Simon, Johannes son. Älskar du mig mer än de andra?" Han svarade: "Ja, Herre. Du vet att jag har dig kär." Jesus sade till honom: "För mina lamm på bete." 16 *Luk 22:32, 1 Petr 5:2. För andra gången frågade han: "Simon, Johannes son. Älskar du mig?" Han svarade: "Ja, Herre. Du vet att jag har dig kär." Jesus sade till honom: "Var en herde för mina får."

17 *1 Joh 3:20. För tredje gången frågade han: "Simon, Johannes son. Har du mig kär?" Petrus blev bedrövad när Jesus för tredje gången frågade: "Har du mig kär?", och han svarade: "Herre, du vet allt. Du vet att jag har dig kär." Jesus sade: "För mina får på bete. 18 *2 Petr 1:14. Jag säger dig sanningen: När du var yngre, spände du själv bältet om dig och gick vart du ville. Men när du blir äldre ska du sträcka ut dina händer, och en annan ska spänna bältet om dig och leda dig dit du inte vill." 19 *Joh 13:36. Detta sade han för att ange med vilken död*21:19med vilken dödPetrus blev enligt traditionen korsfäst i Rom under Nero i mitten av 60-talet e Kr. Petrus skulle förhärliga Gud. Sedan sade han till honom: "Följ mig!"

20 *Joh 13:23f. Petrus vände sig om och såg att lärjungen som Jesus älskade följde efter, han som vid måltiden hade lutat sig mot Jesu bröst och frågat: "Herre, vem är det som ska förråda dig?" 21 När Petrus såg honom frågade han Jesus: "Herre, hur blir det med honom?" 22 Jesus svarade: "Om jag vill att han ska vara kvar tills jag kommer, vad rör det dig? Följ du mig!"

23 Så spreds ryktet*21:23spreds ryktetJohannes levde längre än någon av de andra apostlarna, till senare hälften av 90-talet e Kr. När han mot slutet av sitt liv skrev sitt evangelium kan han ha sett behovet av att motsäga ryktet. bland bröderna att den lärjungen inte skulle dö. Men Jesus hade inte sagt till honom att han inte skulle dö, utan: "Om jag vill att han ska vara kvar tills jag kommer, vad rör det dig?"

24 Det är den lärjungen som vittnar om detta och har skrivit detta, och vi vet att hans vittnesbörd är sant. 25 *Joh 20:30. Jesus gjorde också mycket annat. Men om varje händelse skulle skrivas ner, tror jag att inte ens hela världen skulle rymma de böcker som då måste skrivas.

Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea. 8 And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes. 9 As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread. 10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught. 11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken. 12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord. 13 Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise. 14 This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.

15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. 16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. 17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. 18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. 19 This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me. 20 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? 21 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? 22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. 23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? 24 This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true. 25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.
