1 Sabe, porém, isto, que nos últimos dias virão tempos difíceis;2 pois os homens serão amantes de si mesmos, avarentos, pretenciosos, soberbos, maldizentes, desobedientes a seus pais, ingratos, ímpios,3 sem afeição natural, implacáveis, caluniadores, incontinentes, cruéis, inimigos do bem,4 traidores, insolentes, presunçosos, amando mais os prazeres do que a Deus,5 tendo a aparência de piedade, porém negando o poder dela. Foge também destes homens.6 Pois deste número são os que se introduzem nas casas e cativam as mulherinhas carregadas de pecados, seduzidas por toda a sorte de paixões,7 aprendendo sempre, mas nunca podendo chegar ao pleno conhecimento da verdade.8 Assim como Janes e Jambres resistiram a Moisés, assim também estes resistem à verdade, sendo homens corrompidos de entendimento e réprobos quanto à fé.9 Não irão, porém, avante, porque a sua insensatez será manifestada a todos, como foi a daqueles homens.10 Tu, porém, seguiste de perto o meu ensino, procedimento, intenção, fé, longanimidade, amor, perseverança,11 as minhas perseguições e sofrimentos, quais me aconteceram em Antioquia, Icônio e Listra; quais as perseguições que sofri; e como de todas elas me livrou o Senhor.12 Ora todos aqueles que querem viver piamente em Cristo Jesus, serão perseguidos.13 Mas os homens maus e impostores se tornarão cada vez piores, iludindo e sendo iludidos.14 Tu, porém, persevera nas coisas que aprendeste e de que tens a certeza, sabendo de quem as aprendeste,15 e que desde a infância sabes as sagradas letras que te podem instruir para a salvação pela fé que é em Cristo Jesus.16 Toda a Escritura divinamente inspirada é também útil para ensinar, para repreender, para corrigir e para instruir na justiça,17 a fim de que o homem de Deus seja perfeito, plenamente preparado para toda a boa obra.

1 You must realize, however, that in the last days difficult times will come.2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,3 unfeeling, uncooperative, slanderous, degenerate, brutal, hateful of what is good,4 traitors, reckless, conceited, and lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.5 They will hold to an outward form of godliness but deny its power. Stay away from such people.6 For some of these men go into homes and deceive foolish women who are burdened with sins and swayed by all kinds of desires.7 These women are always studying but are never able to arrive at a full knowledge of the truth.8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men oppose the truth. They are depraved in mind and their faith is a counterfeit.9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those two men, their stupidity will be plain to everyone.10 But you have observed my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, my faith, my patience, my love, my endurance,11 and my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them.12 Indeed, all who want to live a godly life in union with Christ Jesus will be persecuted.13 But evil people and impostors will go from bad to worse as they deceive others and are themselves deceived.14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and found to be true, because you know from whom you learned it.15 From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures that are able to give you the wisdom you need for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,17 so that the man of God may be complete and thoroughly equipped for every good work.
