1 As palavras de Amós, que era entre os *Am 7.14pastores de *2Sm 14.2;Jr 6.1Tecoa, as quais viu no tocante a Israel, nos dias de *2Rs 15.1-7;2Cr 26.1-23;Is 1.1;Os 1.1Uzias, rei de Judá, e nos dias de *2Rs 14.23-29;Os 1.1Jeroboão, filho de Joás, rei de Israel, dois anos antes do *Zc 14.5terremoto.

2 Ele disse: *Is 42.13;Jr 25.30;Jl 3.16Jeová rugirá de Sião e de Jerusalém fará ouvir a sua voz; *Jr 12.4;Jl 1.18-19as pastagens dos pastores prantearão, *Am 9.3e o cume do Carmelo secará.

3 Assim diz Jeová: *Am 1.6,9,11,13;Am 2.1,4,6Por causa de três transgressões de *Is 7.8;17.1Damasco, sim, de quatro, *Is 8.4não desviarei o seu castigo, porque trilharam a *Am 1.13Gileade com trilhos de ferro. 4 Porém meterei na casa de Hazael um *Jr 49.27fogo que devorará os palácios de *1Rs 20.1;2Rs 6.24Ben-Hadade. 5 *Jr 51.30;Lm 2.9Quebrarei o ferrolho de Damasco, e exterminarei do vale de Áven o morador, e, da casa de Éden, aquele que tem o cetro; e o povo da Síria será levado em cativeiro a *Am 9.7;2Rs 16.9Quir, diz Jeová.

6 Assim diz Jeová: Por causa de três transgressões de *1Sm 6.17;Jr 47.1,5;Sf 2.4Gaza, sim, de quatro, não desviarei o seu castigo, porque levaram cativo *Am 1.9todo o povo, para o entregarem a *Ez 35.5;Ob 11Edom. 7 Porém meterei aos muros de *Am 1.6Gaza um fogo que devorará os palácios dela; 8 de *Am 3.9;2Cr 26.6;Zc 9.6Asdode exterminarei o morador e, de *Jr 47.5;Sf 2.4Asquelom, aquele que tem o cetro; tornarei a minha mão contra Ecrom, e perecerá o resto dos *Is 14.29-31;Ez 25.16filisteus, diz Jeová.

9 Assim diz Jeová: *Am 1.3Por causa de três transgressões de *Is 23.1-18;Jr 25.22;Ez 26.2-4Tiro, sim, de quatro, não desviarei o seu castigo, porque *Am 1.6entregaram o povo todo a Edom e não se lembraram da *1Rs 5.1;9.11-14aliança de irmãos. 10 Porém *Am 1.4,7, etc.;Zc 9.4meterei aos muros de Tiro um fogo que lhe devorará os palácios.

11 Assim diz Jeová: *Am 1.3Por causa de três transgressões de *Is 34.5-6;63.1-6;Jr 49.7-22Edom, sim, de quatro, não desviarei o seu castigo, porque *Nm 20.14-21;2Cr 28.17;Ob 10-12perseguiu a seu irmão com a espada, e pôs de lado toda a compaixão, e a sua ira despedaçou perpetuamente, *Is 57.16;Mq 7.18e conservou a sua indignação para sempre. 12 Porém meterei a *Jr 49.7,20Temã um fogo que devorará os palácios de Bozra.

13 Assim diz Jeová: *Am 1.3Por causa de três transgressões dos filhos *Jr 49.1-6;Ez 25.2-7;Sf 2.8-9de Amom, sim, de quatro, não desviarei o seu castigo, porque *2Rs 15.16;Os 13.16fenderam o ventre às grávidas de *Am 1.3Gileade, *Is 5.8;Ez 35.10para dilatarem os seus termos. 14 Porém meterei aos muros de *1Cr 20.1;Jr 49.2Rabá um fogo que lhe devorará os palácios, com *Am 2.2alarido no dia da batalha, *Ez 21.22;Is 29.6;30.30com tempestade no dia do turbilhão. 15 O seu *Jr 49.3rei irá para o cativeiro, ele e seus príncipes juntamente, diz Jeová.

1 The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake. 2 And he said, The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.

3 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:*1.3 and…: or, yea, for four*1.3 turn…: or, convert it, or, let it be quiet 4 But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad. 5 I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.*1.5 the plain…: or, Bikathaven*1.5 the house…: or, Beth-eden

6 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:*1.6 away captive…: or, them away with an entire 7 But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof: 8 And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.

9 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:*1.9 the brotherly…: Heb. the covenant of brethren 10 But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.

11 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:*1.11 did cast…: Heb. corrupted his compassions 12 But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.

13 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:*1.13 ripped…: or, divided the mountains 14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind: 15 And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the LORD.
