Amós 7

A visão do gafanhoto, do fogo e do prumo

1 Isto me *Am 7.4,7;Am 8.1;Jr 1.11mostrou o Senhor Jeová: eis que ele formava *Am 4.9;Jl 1.4;Na 3.15gafanhotos no princípio do rebentar da erva serôdia; e era a erva serôdia depois que se acabavam as ceifas do rei. 2 Quando *Êx 10.15tinham acabado de comer a erva da terra, disse eu: *Jr 14.7,20-21;Ez 9.8;11.13Senhor Jeová, perdoa; como subsistirá Jacó? Pois é ele *Is 37.4;Jr 42.2pequeno. 3 *Am 5.15;Jr 26.19;Os 11.8Arrependeu-se disso Jeová. Não acontecerá, diz Jeová.

4 Isto mostrou o Senhor Jeová: eis que ordenava o Senhor Jeová que *Am 2.5;Dt 32.22;Is 66.15-16com fogo se decidisse o pleito; o fogo devorou o grande abismo e teria consumido a terra. 5 Então, disse eu: *Sl 85.4;Jl 2.17Senhor Jeová, cessa; como subsistirá Jacó? Pois é ele pequeno. 6 *Am 7.3;Sl 106.45;Jn 3.10Arrependeu-se disso Jeová. Também isso não acontecerá, diz Jeová.

7 Isto me mostrou ele: eis que estava Jeová junto a um muro, feito a prumo, e tinha na mão um prumo. 8 Jeová disse-me: Que vês tu, *Am 8.2;Jr 1.11Amós? Eu respondi: Um prumo. Então, disse Jeová: Eis que porei um *Is 28.17;34.11;Lm 2.8prumo no meio do meu povo de Israel *Am 8.2;Jr 15.6;Ez 7.2-9e não tornarei mais a passar por ele; 9 *Am 7.13;Lv 26.31;Is 63.18;Jr 51.51;Os 10.8;Mq 1.5os altos de Isaque serão desolados, e os santuários de Israel serão assolados; *Am 7.11;2Rs 15.8-10e me levantarei com a espada contra a casa de Jeroboão.

Amós é acusado como conspirador

10 Então, Amazias, *1Rs 12.31-32;13.33sacerdote de *Am 3.14;4.4;5.5-6Betel, enviou a Jeroboão, rei de Israel, a dizer: Amós *Jr 26.8-11;38.4tem conspirado contra ti no meio da casa de Israel; a terra não pode sofrer todas as suas palavras. 11 Pois assim diz Amós: *Am 7.9Jeroboão morrerá à espada, *Am 7.17;Am 5.27;6.7e Israel, certamente, será levado cativo para fora da sua terra. 12 Também disse Amazias a Amós: *Mt 8.34Vai-te, vidente, foge para a terra de Judá, ali come o teu pão e ali profetiza; 13 porém *Am 2.12;At 4.18não tornes a profetizar mais em Betel, pois é o *Am 7.9;1Rs 12.29,32santuário do rei e é a casa real.

14 Então, respondeu Amós e disse a Amazias: Eu não era profeta *2Rs 2.3;4.38;2Cr 19.2nem filho de profeta, mas era *Am 1.1pastor de gado *1Cr 27.28e cultivador de sicômoros. 15 *1Sm 16.11;2Sm 7.8Jeová tirou-me de seguir o rebanho *Am 3.8e disse-me: Vai, *Jr 1.7;Ez 2.3-4profetiza ao meu povo de Israel. 16 Agora, pois, ouve a palavra de Jeová: Tu dizes: *Am 7.13;Am 2.12Não profetizes contra Israel, *Dt 32.2;Ez 20.46;21.2nem deixes cair a tua palavra contra a casa de Isaque. 17 Portanto, assim diz Jeová: *Os 4.13-14Tua mulher se prostituirá na cidade, *Jr 14.16e teus filhos e tuas filhas cairão à espada, e a tua terra será repartida *Am 7.8a cordel; tu mesmo morrerás numa terra que é *2Rs 17.6;Ez 4.13;Os 9.3imunda, e Israel, certamente, *Am 7.11;Jr 36.29-31será levado cativo para fora da sua terra.

1 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings.*7.1 grasshoppers: or, green worms 2 And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.*7.2 by…: or, who of (or, for,) Jacob shall stand? 3 The LORD repented for this: It shall not be, saith the LORD.

4 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part. 5 Then said I, O Lord GOD, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.*7.5 by…: or, who of (or, for,) Jacob shall stand? 6 The LORD repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord GOD.

7 Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand. 8 And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more: 9 And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.

10 Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words. 11 For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land. 12 Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there: 13 But prophesy not again any more at Beth-el: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court.*7.13 chapel: or, sanctuary*7.13 king’s court: Heb. house of the kingdom

14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:*7.14 sycomore…: or, wild figs 15 And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.*7.15 as…: Heb. from behind

16 Now therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac. 17 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.
