Amós 8

A visão dum cesto de frutos. Ameaças contra Israel

1 Mostrou-me o Senhor Jeová esta visão: um cesto de frutos de verão 2 e perguntou: *Am 7.8Que vês tu agora Amós? *Jr 24.3Eu respondi: Um cesto de frutos de verão. Então, me disse Jeová: *Ez 7.2-3,6O fim é vindo sobre o meu povo de Israel; *Am 7.8não tornarei mais a passar por ele. 3 Os *Am 8.10;Am 5.23;6.4-5cânticos do templo serão *Am 5.16gritos de dor naquele dia, diz o Senhor Jeová; muitos serão os *Am 6.8-10cadáveres; em todos os lugares, serão lançados fora em silêncio.

4 Ouvi isto, vós que pisais os *Am 2.7;5.11-12necessitados, e fazeis perecer os pobres da terra, 5 dizendo: Quando passará a *Nm 28.11;2Rs 4.23lua nova, para vendermos grão? *Êx 31.13-17E o sábado, para expormos trigo? *Lv 19.36;Dt 25.15;Ez 45.10-12Diminuindo o efa, aumentando o siclo *Os 12.7e servindo-nos de balanças falsas 6 para comprarmos *Am 2.6os pobres por dinheiro e os necessitados por um par de sapatos e para vendermos o refugo do trigo. 7 *Am 4.2;6.8Jurou Jeová *Dt 33.26,29;Sl 68.34pela glória de Jacó: Certamente, *Sl 10.11;Jr 17.1;Os 7.2nunca me esquecerei de nenhuma das suas obras. 8 Por causa disso, não *Sl 18.7;60.2;Is 5.25se comoverá a terra, *Os 4.3e não chorará todo o que nela habitar? Sim, toda ela *Am 9.5;Jr 46.7-8se levantará como o rio, será agitada e se diminuirá como o rio do Egito. 9 Acontecerá, naquele dia, diz o Senhor Jeová, que farei que *Is 13.10;Jr 15.9;Mq 3.6o sol se ponha ao meio-dia *Am 4.13;5.8;Is 59.9-10e cobrirei de trevas a terra no claro dia. 10 Converterei as vossas *Am 5.21;Jó 20.23festas em luto e todos os vossos *Am 5.23;6.4-5cânticos, em pranto; porei *Ez 7.18sacos sobre todos os lombos e calva, sobre todas as cabeças; farei que isso seja *Jr 6.26;Zc 12.10como o luto por um filho único e o seu fim, como um dia de amargura.

11 Eis que vêm dias, diz o Senhor Jeová, em que enviarei fome sobre a terra, não fome de pão nem sede de água, mas de *1Sm 28.6;2Cr 15.3;Ez 7.26;Mq 3.6ouvir as palavras de Jeová. 12 Andarão errantes de mar a mar e do Norte até o Oriente; correrão por toda parte *Ez 20.3,31para buscar a palavra de Jeová e não a acharão. 13 Naquele dia, *Is 41.17;Os 2.3desmaiarão à sede *Lm 1.18;2.21as virgens formosas e os mancebos. 14 Os que juram pelo *Os 8.5pecado de Samaria e dizem: Pela vida do teu Deus, *1Rs 12.28-29ó Dã; e: Pelo caminho de *Am 5.5Berseba; até eles cairão *Am 5.2e não se levantarão nunca.

1 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit. 2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. 4 Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail, 5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?*8.5 new…: or, month*8.5 set…: Heb. open*8.5 falsifying…: Heb. perverting the balances of deceit 6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat? 7 The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works. 8 Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt. 9 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day: 10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.

11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. 13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst. 14 They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beer-sheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.*8.14 manner: Heb. way
