Gênesis 28

1 Isaque, pois, chamou a Jacó, deu-lhe a sua bênção e ordenou-lhe, dizendo: *Gn 24.3-4Não tomarás mulher dentre as filhas de Canaã. 2 Levanta-te, vai a Padã-Arã, à casa de *Gn 25.20Betuel, pai de tua mãe; e toma de lá uma mulher das filhas de Labão, irmão de tua mãe. 3 Deus *Gn 17.1;35.11;48.3Todo-Poderoso te *Gn 22.17abençoe, *Gn 17.6,20te faça frutificar e te *Gn 17.2;26.4,24multiplique, para que venhas a ser uma *Gn 35.11;48.4multidão de povos; 4 e te dê a bênção de Abraão, a ti e à tua posteridade contigo, para que *Gn 15.7-8herdes a terra das tuas peregrinações, que Deus deu a Abraão. 5 *Gn 27.43Despediu Isaque a Jacó, que foi a Padã-Arã, à casa de Labão, filho de Betuel, o arameu, irmão de Rebeca, mãe de Jacó e de Esaú.

Isaque manda Jacó a Padã-Arã

6 Vendo que Isaque tinha abençoado a Jacó e o tinha enviado a Padã-Arã, para tomar de lá mulher para si; vendo que, abençoando-o, lhe havia ordenado: *Gn 28.1Não tomarás mulher dentre as filhas de Canaã, 7 e que Jacó, obedecendo a seu pai e a sua mãe, fora a Padã-Arã: 8 vendo também que *Gn 26.34-35;27.46as filhas de Canaã eram más aos olhos de Isaque, seu pai; 9 Esaú foi à casa de Ismael e, *Gn 26.34;36.2além das mulheres que já tinha, tomou por mulher a Maalate, filha de Ismael, filho de Abraão, irmã de Nebaiote.

A visão da escada

10 Jacó partiu de *Gn 26.23Berseba e foi para *Gn 12.4-5;27.43Harã. 11 Tendo chegado *Gn 28.19a um certo lugar, ali passou a noite, porque o sol já se havia posto; tomando uma das pedras do lugar e pondo-a debaixo de sua cabeça, deitou-se naquele lugar para dormir. 12 *Nm 12.6Sonhou, e eis posta sobre a terra uma escada cujo topo chegava ao céu; os *Jo 1.51anjos de Deus subiam e desciam por ela. 13 *Am 7.7;Gn 35.1Perto dele estava Jeová, que disse: Eu sou Jeová, *Gn 26.3,24Deus de teu pai Abraão, e Deus de Isaque. A terra em que estás deitado, *Gn 13.15,17;26.3ta darei a ti *Gn 12.7;15.18e à tua posteridade; 14 a tua posteridade será *Gn 13.16;22.17como o pó da terra, e te dilatarás *Gn 13.14-15para o Ocidente, e para o Oriente, para o Norte e para o Sul. *Gn 12.3;18.18;22.18;26.4Por ti e por tua descendência serão benditas todas as famílias da terra. 15 *Gn 26.3Eis que estou contigo, e *Nm 6.24;Sl 121.7-8te guardarei por onde quer que fores, e *Gn 48.21;Dt 30.3te reconduzirei para esta terra; porque *Dt 7.9;31.6,8não te abandonarei até ter eu cumprido aquilo de que te hei falado. 16 *1Rs 3.15;Jr 31.26Despertado Jacó do seu sono, disse: *Sl 139.7-12Na verdade, Jeová está neste lugar; e eu não o sabia. 17 E, temendo, disse: *Sl 68.35Quão terrível é este lugar! Este não é outro lugar, senão a casa de Deus, é também a porta do céu.

A coluna de Betel

18 Tendo-se Jacó levantado cedo de manhã, tomou *Gn 28.11;Gn 35.14a pedra que pusera debaixo da cabeça, pô-la por coluna e, sobre o topo dela, derramou azeite. 19 Chamou àquele lugar Betel; porém o nome da cidade antes era *Gn 35.6;48.3Luz. 20 *Gn 31.13Fez também Jacó um voto, dizendo: *Gn 28.15Se Deus for comigo, e me guardar neste caminho que eu vou seguindo, e me der pão para comer e vestidos para me cobrir, 21 de maneira que eu volte em paz à casa de meu pai, e Jeová for meu Deus, 22 então, essa pedra que tenho posto por coluna *Gn 35.7será a casa de Deus; e *Dt 14.22de tudo quanto me deres, certamente, te darei o dízimo.

1 And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan. 2 Arise, go to Padan-aram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother’s father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother’s brother. 3 And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;*28.3 a multitude…: Heb. an assembly of people 4 And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham.*28.4 wherein…: Heb. of thy sojournings 5 And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padan-aram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob’s and Esau’s mother.

6 When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padan-aram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan; 7 And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padan-aram; 8 And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;*28.8 pleased…: Heb. were evil in the eyes, etc 9 Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.*28.9 Mahalath: or, Bashemath

10 And Jacob went out from Beer-sheba, and went toward Haran.*28.10 Haran: Gr. Charran 11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep. 12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. 13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; 14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.*28.14 spread…: Heb. break forth 15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not. 17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven. 18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it. 19 And he called the name of that place Beth-el: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.*28.19 Beth-el: that is, The house of God 20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, 21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God: 22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.
