Descrição das calamidades do cerco

1 Como *2Rs 25.9-10;Ez 7.19-22se escureceu o ouro! Como se mudou o ouro puríssimo!

*Jr 52.13-14;Mt 24.2As pedras do santuário estão espalhadas pelas esquinas de todas as ruas.

2 Os preciosos *Is 51.18filhos de Sião, comparáveis com o ouro fino,

como são reputados como *Is 30.14;Jr 19.1,11vasos de barro, obra das mãos de oleiro!

3 Até os *Is 13.22;34.13chacais descobrem os peitos, dão de mamar aos seus cachorros;

A filha do meu povo tem-se tornado *Is 49.15;Ez 5.10cruel como as *Jó 39.14-17avestruzes no deserto.

4 A língua da criança que mama fica-lhe, *Jr 14.3pela sede, pegada ao céu da boca.

Os pequeninos *Lm 2.12pedem pão, e ninguém lho reparte.

5 Os que comiam *Is 3.16-26;Jr 6.2;Am 6.3-7delicadamente desfalecem nas ruas.

Os que se criavam em escarlata abraçam *1Sm 2.8;Sl 113.7monturos.

6 Pois a iniquidade da filha do meu povo é maior que o pecado de *Is 1.10;Ez 16.48Sodoma,

a qual foi *Gn 19.25;Jr 20.16submetida como num momento, e nenhumas mãos foram postas sobre ela.

7 Os seus nobres eram *Sl 51.7mais puros que a neve, mais alvos que o leite.

De corpo, eram mais ruivos que corais, e a sua forma era como de *Êx 24.10;Jó 28.16safira.

8 O seu parecer é *Lm 5.10,14;Jó 30.30mais escuro do que o negrume; eles não são conhecidos nas ruas.

A sua *Lm 3.4;Jó 19.20;Sl 38.3;102.3-5,11pele pega-se-lhes aos ossos; secou-se e tornou-se como um pau.

9 Mais felizes são os mortos *Jr 15.2;16.4à espada do que os que morrem de fome;

porque estes *Lv 26.39;Ez 24.23se esgotam, traspassados por falta dos frutos do campo.

10 As mãos das mulheres compassivas *Lm 2.20;2Rs 6.29;Jr 19.9cozeram seus filhos;

estes lhes serviram *Dt 28.53-55de alimento na ruína da filha do meu povo.

11 *Lm 4.22;Jr 2.17;Jr 7.20;Ez 22.31Deu Jeová cumprimento ao seu furor, derramou a ardor da sua ira;

em Sião, *Dt 32.22;Jr 17.27acendeu um fogo, que devorou os fundamentos dela.

12 *Dt 29.24-28;1Rs 9.8-9Não creram os reis da terra, nem todos os moradores do mundo

*Jr 21.13que entrasse o adversário e o inimigo pelas portas de Jerusalém.

13 É por causa dos pecados dos seus *Lm 2.14;Jr 5.31;6.13;Ez 22.26-28;Mq 3.11-12profetas e por causa das iniquidades dos seus sacerdotes

que se derramou no meio dela *Jr 2.30;26.8-9o sangue dos justos.

14 Vagueiam *Dt 28.28-29;Is 29.10;56.10;59.9-10como cegos pelas ruas, são contaminados *Is 1.15;Jr 19.4de sangue,

de modo que não se lhes podem tocar *Jr 2.34as suas roupas.

15 Retirai-vos! *Lv 13.45-46Imundo! — gritaram-lhes. *2Co 6.17Retirai-vos! Retirai-vos! Não toqueis!

Quando *Jr 49.5fugiram e andaram vagueando, dizia-se entre as nações: Não habitarão nunca aqui.

16 Espalhou-se a ira de Jeová, e ele não tornará a olhar para eles.

17 Os nossos olhos ainda desfalecem, esperando o nosso *Lm 1.7;Jr 37.7vão socorro.

Vigiando, temos estado de vigia para *Ez 29.6-7,16uma nação que não podia saber.

18 *Jr 16.16Espreitam os nossos passos, de sorte que não podemos andar em nossas ruas.

perseguiram-nos sobre os montes, armaram-nos ciladas no *1Sm 13.6deserto.

20 *Jr 39.5Foi apanhado nas covas deles *2Sm 1.14;19.21o ungido de Jeová, aquele que é *2Sm 18.3o ar das nossas narinas;

e do que dissemos: Debaixo da sua *Dn 4.12sombra, viveremos entre as nações.

21 Regozija-te e alegra-te, filha de *Sl 83.3-6;137.7;Jr 25.20-21,27Edom, que habitas na terra de Uz;

*Is 34.7;63.1-6;Am 1.11-12;Ob 1,16o copo te passará a ti também; serás embriagada e te descobrirás.

22 Já *Is 40.2;Jr 33.7-8se cumpriu o castigo da tua iniquidade, ó filha de Sião; Jeová não tornará a levar-te para o cativeiro;

*Jr 49.10;Ml 1.3-4ele visitará a tua iniquidade, ó filha de Edom; descobrirá os teus pecados.

21 Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz; the cup also shall pass through unto thee: thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.

22 The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins.*4.22 The…: or, Thine iniquity*4.22 discover…: or, carry thee captive for thy sins
