A verdade e a justiça são recomendadas

1 Veio a mim a palavra de Jeová dos Exércitos, dizendo: 2 Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: *Zc 1.14Zelo a Sião com grande zelo e a zelo com grande furor. 3 Assim diz Jeová: *Zc 1.16Tenho voltado para Sião *Zc 2.10-11e habitarei no meio de Jerusalém, e Jerusalém será chamada a cidade *Zc 8.16,19da verdade, e o monte de Jeová dos Exércitos, *Jr 31.23o monte santo. 4 Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: Ainda nas ruas de Jerusalém habitarão *Is 65.20velhos e velhas, tendo cada um na mão o seu cajado, por causa da sua muita idade. 5 As ruas da cidade serão cheias *Jr 30.19-20;31.12-13de meninos, que brincarão nas suas ruas. 6 Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: Se isso for *Sl 118.23;126.1-3maravilhoso aos olhos do resto do povo, naqueles dias, sê-lo-á também *Jr 32.17,27aos meus olhos? — diz Jeová dos Exércitos. 7 Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: Eis que salvarei o meu povo, tirando-o da terra do Oriente e da *Sl 107.3;Is 11.11;27.12-13;43.5terra do Ocidente; 8 eu *Zc 10.10;Sf 3.20os trarei, *Jr 3.17;Ez 37.25e eles habitarão no meio de Jerusalém; eles serão *Zc 2.11;Ez 11.20;36.28o meu povo, e eu serei o seu Deus em verdade e em justiça.

9 Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: Sejam *1Cr 22.13;Is 35.4;Ag 2.4fortes as vossas mãos, ó vós que nestes dias ouvis estas palavras da boca *Ed 5.1;6.14dos profetas que existiam nos dias em que foi posto o fundamento da Casa de Jeová dos Exércitos, isto é, do templo, a fim de que fosse edificado. 10 Pois, antes daqueles dias, *Ag 2.15-19não tinham jornal os homens, nem tinham jornal os animais, *2Cr 15.5nem havia paz para o que saía, nem para o que entrava, por causa do adversário; porque *Is 19.2;Am 3.6;9.4incitei todos os homens, cada um contra o seu próximo. 11 Agora, porém, *Sl 103.9;Is 12.1;Ag 2.19não me haverei para com o resto deste povo como nos dias passados, diz Jeová dos Exércitos. 12 Pois haverá a *Lv 26.3-6;Sl 67.6;Pv 3.9-10;Is 30.23;Os 2.21-23semente da paz; a vide dará o seu fruto, e a terra produzirá a sua novidade, e os céus darão o seu *Gn 27.28;Dt 33.13,28;Os 13.3orvalho; e farei que o resto deste povo herde *Is 61.7;Ob 17todas essas coisas. 13 Como vós éreis *Jr 29.18;Dn 9.11uma maldição entre as nações, ó casa de Judá e ó casa de Israel, assim eu vos salvarei, e sereis *Zc 14.11;Sl 72.17;Is 19.24-25;Ez 34.26uma bênção; não tenhais medo, mas sejam *Zc 8.9fortes as vossas mãos.

14 Pois assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: Como *Jr 31.28resolvi fazer-vos o mal, quando vossos pais me provocaram à ira, diz Jeová dos Exércitos, *Jr 4.28;Ez 24.14e não me arrependi, 15 assim tornei a resolver nestes dias *Jr 29.11;Mq 7.18-20fazer o bem a Jerusalém e à casa de Judá; *Zc 8.13não tenhais medo. 16 Estas são as coisas que fareis: falai a *Zc 8.3;Sl 15.2;Pv 12.17-19verdade, cada um com o seu próximo; *Zc 7.9;Is 9.7;11.4-5;Am 5.15,24julgai nas vossas portas juízo de verdade e de paz; 17 nenhum de vós *Zc 7.10;Pv 3.29;Jr 4.14intente no seu coração o mal contra o seu próximo; e não ameis o *Zc 5.4;Ml 3.5juramento falso, porque todas estas são coisas que *Pv 6.16-19;Hc 1.13aborreço, diz Jeová.

Outras nações procurarão a Jeová

18 A palavra de Jeová dos Exércitos veio a mim, dizendo: 19 Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: *Zc 7.3,5O jejum do *2Rs 25.3-4;Jr 39.2quarto, e o jejum do *Zc 7.3quinto, e o jejum do *Zc 7.5;2Rs 25.25sétimo, e o jejum do *Jr 52.4décimo mês se tornarão para a casa de Judá em *Sl 30.11;Is 12.1gozo, e em alegria, e em festas alegres. Portanto, *Zc 8.16;Lc 1.74-75amai a verdade e a paz. 20 Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: Ainda sucederá que virão povos e os habitantes de muitas cidades. 21 Os habitantes de uma cidade irão a outra cidade, dizendo: Vamos apressadamente para *Zc 2.11;14.16;Sl 117.1;Jr 16.19;Mq 4.2-3suplicar o favor de Jeová e para buscar a *Zc 7.2Jeová dos Exércitos; eu também irei. 22 *Is 2.2-3;25.7;49.6,22-23;60.3-12Muitos povos e poderosas nações virão buscar em Jerusalém a Jeová dos Exércitos e *Zc 8.21a suplicar o favor de Jeová. 23 Assim diz Jeová dos Exércitos: Naqueles dias, *Is 45.14,24;60.14pegarão dez homens de todas as línguas das nações, sim, pegarão da orla do vestido daquele que é judeu, dizendo: Iremos convosco, porque temos ouvido que Deus é convosco.

1 Again the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying, 2 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for her with great fury. 3 Thus saith the LORD; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain. 4 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.*8.4 very…: Heb. multitude of days 5 And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof. 6 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If it be marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvellous in mine eyes? saith the LORD of hosts.*8.6 marvellous: or, hard, or, difficult 7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country;*8.7 the west…: Heb. the country of the going down of the sun 8 And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.

9 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, which were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built. 10 For before these days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; neither was there any peace to him that went out or came in because of the affliction: for I set all men every one against his neighbour.*8.10 there was…: or, the hire of man became nothing 11 But now I will not be unto the residue of this people as in the former days, saith the LORD of hosts. 12 For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.*8.12 prosperous: Heb. of peace 13 And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong. 14 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; As I thought to punish you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, saith the LORD of hosts, and I repented not: 15 So again have I thought in these days to do well unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: fear ye not.

16 These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:*8.16 execute…: Heb. judge truth, and the judgment of peace 17 And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.

18 And the word of the LORD of hosts came unto me, saying, 19 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace.*8.19 feasts: or, solemn, or, set times 20 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities: 21 And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also.*8.21 speedily: or, continually: Heb. going*8.21 to pray…: Heb. to intreat the face of 22 Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD.*8.22 to pray…: Heb. to intreat the face of 23 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
