Paulo cumpre o seu ministério com fidelidade

O poder de Paulo vem só de Deus

7 Temos, porém, esse tesouro em *2Co 5.1;2Tm 2.20; cp.Jó 4.19;10.9;33.6;Lm 4.2vasos de barro, a fim de que a excelência do *1Co 2.5; cp.Jz 7.2poder seja de Deus e não venha de nós. 8 Em tudo, *2Co 7.5; cp.1.8somos atribulados, mas não angustiados; *Gl 4.20perplexos, mas não desesperados; 9 *Jo 15.20;Rm 8.35s.perseguidos, mas não *Hb 13.5; cp.Sl 129.2abandonados; *cp.Sl 37.24;Pv 24.16;Mq 7.8derribados, mas não destruídos; 10 *Rm 6.5;8.36; cp.Gl 6.17sempre levando no corpo a mortificação de Jesus, para que também *Rm 6.8a vida de Jesus seja manifestada em nosso corpo. 11 Pois nós, que vivemos, estamos sempre entregues à morte por amor de Jesus, para que também a vida de Jesus seja manifestada na nossa carne mortal. 12 Assim, a morte opera em nós, mas a vida, em vós. 13 Mas, tendo o mesmo *1Co 12.9;Sl 116.10espírito da fé, conforme está escrito: Cri, por isso falei. Também nós cremos; por isso, também falamos, 14 sabendo que aquele que *At 2.24ressuscitou ao Senhor Jesus também *1Ts 4.14nos ressuscitará a nós com Jesus e nos *Ef 5.27;Cl 1.22;Jd 24; cp.Lc 21.36apresentará convosco. 15 Pois tudo é *2Co 1.6; cp.Rm 8.28por amor de vós, para que a graça, sendo *2Co 1.11; cp.1Co 9.19multiplicada por muitos, faça abundar a ação de graças para a glória de Deus.

O desígnio e efeito das aflições

16 Por isso, *2Co 4.1não desmaiamos; mas, ainda que em nós pereça o homem exterior, *Rm 7.22o homem interior *cp.Cl 3.10;Is 40.29,31renova-se de dia em dia. 17 Pois a nossa *Rm 8.18leve aflição momentânea para nós produz cada vez mais abundantemente um eterno peso de glória, 18 enquanto *2Co 5.7; cp.Rm 8.24;Hb 11.1,13não olhamos para as coisas que se veem, mas, sim, para as que se não veem; porque as coisas que se veem são temporais, mas as coisas que se não veem são eternas.

1 Therefore, seeing we have this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we don’t faint. 2 But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 Even if our Good News is veiled, it is veiled in those who are dying, 4 in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them. 5 For we don’t preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake, 6 seeing it is God who said, "Light will shine out of darkness,"✝4:6 Genesis 1:3 who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

7 But we have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God and not from ourselves. 8 We are pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, yet not to despair; 9 pursued, yet not forsaken; struck down, yet not destroyed; 10 always carrying in the body the putting to death of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus may be revealed in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death works in us, but life in you.

13 But having the same spirit of faith, according to that which is written, "I believed, and therefore I spoke."✝4:13 Psalms 116:10 We also believe, and therefore we also speak, 14 knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also through*4:14 NU reads with instead of through. Jesus, and will present us with you. 15 For all things are for your sakes, that the grace, being multiplied through the many, may cause the thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.

16 Therefore we don’t faint, but though our outward person is decaying, yet our inward person is renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory, 18 while we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
