Exortação à diligência e à paciência

1 Tu, pois, *2Tm 1.2filho meu, *cp.Ef 6.10fortifica-te na graça que é em *vd.2Tm 1.1Cristo Jesus. 2 E o que *2Tm 1.13de mim ouviste diante de *cp.1Tm 6.12muitas testemunhas, *cp.1Tm 1.18entrega-o a *cp.1Tm 1.12homens fiéis, os quais sejam *cp.2Co 2.16(Gr.);3.5capazes de ensinar também a outros. 3 *vd.2Tm 1.8Sofre comigo como bom *cp.1Co 9.7;1Tm 1.18soldado de Cristo Jesus. 4 Nenhum soldado em serviço se *2Pe 2.20embaraça com os negócios desta vida, para que possa agradar àquele que o alistou. 5 Se alguém *vd.1Co 9.25combater nos jogos públicos, não é coroado sem que tenha combatido segundo as regras. 6 *1Co 9.10O lavrador que trabalha deve ser o primeiro a gozar dos frutos. 7 Pensa bem no que digo, porque o Senhor te dará compreensão em tudo. 8 Lembra-te de Jesus Cristo, *vd.At 2.24ressuscitado dentre os mortos, *vd.Mt 1.1descendente de Davi, *vd.Rm 2.16segundo o meu evangelho; 9 no qual *vd.2Tm 1.8;2Tm 1.3sofro, a ponto de *Fp 1.7ser preso como *cp.Lc 23.32malfeitor; mas *vd.1Ts 1.8a palavra de Deus *vd.At 28.31; cp.2Tm 4.17não está presa. 10 Portanto, *Cl 1.24sofro tudo por *vd.Lc 18.7; cp.Tt 1.1amor dos escolhidos, *2Co 1.6;1Ts 5.9para que eles também alcancem *vd.1Co 1.21a salvação que é em *2Tm 2.1,3; vd.2Tm 1.1Cristo Jesus, com *2Co 4.17;1Pe 5.10a glória eterna. 11 *vd.1Tm 1.15Fiel é esta palavra: *vd.Rm 6.8; cp.1Ts 5.10se, pois, já morremos com ele, com ele também viveremos; se perseveramos, *vd.Lc 22.29;Mt 19.28;Rm 5.17;8.17, etc.reinaremos também com ele; 12 se *vd.Mt 10.33;1Tm 5.8o negarmos, ele também nos negará a nós; 13 se somos infiéis, *vd.1Co 1.9; cp.Rm 3.3ele permanece fiel, porque *Nm 23.19;Tt 1.2não pode negar-se a si mesmo.

Conduta a seguir com aqueles que se afastam da sã doutrina

14 Lembra-lhes essas coisas, *vd.1Tm 5.21;2Tm 4.1conjurando-os diante de Deus, que *vd.1Tm 6.4; cp.2Tm 2.23;Tt 3.9não tenham contendas de palavras que para nada aproveitam, senão para perverter os que as ouvem. 15 Esforça-te para te *Rm 6.13;Tg 1.12apresentar diante de Deus aprovado, como obreiro que não tem de que se envergonhar e que maneja bem *vd.Ef 1.13;Tg 1.18a palavra da verdade. 16 Mas *Tt 3.9evita as *1Tm 6.20; vd.1.9conversas vãs e profanas; porque os que delas usam passarão à impiedade ainda maior, 17 e as suas palavras lavrarão como gangrena. Deste número são *1Tm 1.20Himeneu e Fileto, 18 os quais se desviaram da verdade, dizendo que *cp.1Co 15.12a ressurreição é já passada, e assim pervertem *vd.1Tm 1.19; cp.Tt 1.11a fé de alguns. 19 Entretanto, *cp.1Tm 3.15;Is 28.16s.o firme fundamento de Deus permanece, tendo este *vd.Jo 3.33selo:

*Nm 16.5;Jo 10.14;1Co 8.3O Senhor conhece os que são dele,

e:

*Is 26.13;Lc 13.27;1Co 1.2Aparte-se da injustiça todo aquele que pronuncia o nome do Senhor.

20 Ora, numa grande casa há não somente vasos de ouro e de prata, mas os há também de madeira e de barro; uns, na verdade, são para uso *cp.Rm 9.21de honra, outros, porém, para uso vil. 21 Se, pois, alguém se purificar *2Tm 1.16-18(?); cp.1Tm 6.11deste, ele será um vaso de honra, santificado, útil ao Senhor e *2Tm 3.17; cp.2Co 9.8;Ef 2.10preparado para toda boa obra. 22 *1Tm 6.11Foge também das paixões da mocidade e segue a justiça, a *cp.1Tm 1.14fé, o amor, a paz com aqueles que *cp.At 7.59invocam o Senhor *1Tm 1.5com um coração puro. 23 Rejeita as *vd.1Tm 6.4;Tt 3.9; cp.2Tm 1.14questões absurdas e desassisadas, sabendo que elas *Tt 3.9;Tg 4.1provocam brigas. 24 Ora, *1Tm 3.3;Tt 1.7o servo do Senhor não deve brigar, mas deve ser condescendente para com todos, *1Tm 3.2capaz de ensinar, sofrido, 25 que corrija *Tt 3.2; cp.Gl 6.1;1Pe 3.15com mansidão aos que se opõem, *cp.At 8.22na esperança de que Deus lhes conceda o arrependimento *vd.1Tm 2.4para conhecerem a verdade, 26 e que despertem e se livrem *vd.1Tm 3.7do laço do Diabo (tendo sido *cp.Lc 5.10feitos cativos por ele), para cumprirem a vontade de Deus.

1 You therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 The things which you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit the same things to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. 3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No soldier on duty entangles himself in the affairs of life, that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier. 5 Also, if anyone competes in athletics, he isn’t crowned unless he has competed by the rules. 6 The farmer who labors must be the first to get a share of the crops. 7 Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things.

8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, of the offspring*2:8 or, seed of David, according to my Good News, 9 in which I suffer hardship to the point of chains as a criminal. But God’s word isn’t chained. 10 Therefore I endure all things for the chosen ones’ sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 11 This saying is trustworthy:

"For if we died with him,

we will also live with him.

12 If we endure,

we will also reign with him.

If we deny him,

he also will deny us.

13 If we are faithless,

he remains faithful;

for he can’t deny himself."

14 Remind them of these things, charging them in the sight of the Lord that they don’t argue about words to no profit, to the subverting of those who hear.

15 Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth. 16 But shun empty chatter, for it will go further in ungodliness, 17 and those words will consume like gangrene, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus: 18 men who have erred concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past, and overthrowing the faith of some. 19 However, God’s firm foundation stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are his,"✝2:19 Numbers 16:5 and, "Let every one who names the name of the Lord*2:19 TR reads "Christ" instead of "the Lord" depart from unrighteousness."

20 Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of clay. Some are for honor and some for dishonor. 21 If anyone therefore purges himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, and suitable for the master’s use, prepared for every good work.

22 Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 But refuse foolish and ignorant questionings, knowing that they generate strife. 24 The Lord’s servant must not quarrel, but be gentle toward all, able to teach, patient, 25 in gentleness correcting those who oppose him. Perhaps God may give them repentance leading to a full knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may recover themselves out of the devil’s snare, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
