A ansiedade de Paulo por eles

1 Pois quero que saibais quão grandemente *Cl 1.29;4.12me esforço por vós, e pelos que estão em *Cl 4.13,15s.;Ap 1.11Laodiceia, e por quantos não têm visto o meu rosto em carne, 2 para que os seus *vd.Ef 6.22;Cl 4.8; cp.1Co 14.31corações sejam confortados, *Cl 2.19estando unidos em amor e para conseguir todas as *Ef 1.18;3.16; vd.Ef 1.7;Cl 1.27riquezas da *cp.Lc 1.1(Gr.)plena certeza do entendimento, para *vd.Mt 13.11;Cl 1.27reconhecerem *vd.Ef 3.3s.;Rm 16.25s.;Cl 1.26;4.3o mistério de Deus, Cristo, 3 no qual existem escondidos *cp.Is 11.2;Rm 11.33todos os tesouros da sabedoria e da ciência. 4 *Ef 4.17Digo isso para que ninguém vos engane com *vd.Rm 16.18palavras persuasivas. 5 Pois, embora eu esteja *vd.1Co 5.3ausente na carne, estou, contudo, presente convosco no espírito, regozijando-me e vendo a vossa *1Co 14.40ordem e a *1Pe 5.9firmeza da vossa fé em Cristo.

Paulo deseja o progresso espiritual deles

6 Como, portanto, recebestes a *vd.Gl 3.26Cristo Jesus, o Senhor, assim nele *vd.Cl 1.10andai, 7 *Ef 3.17arraigados, e *Ef 2.20; vd.1Co 3.9edificados nele, e *vd.1Co 1.8confirmados na vossa fé, como fostes *Ef 4.21ensinados, abundando em ações de graças.

Advertência contra falsas doutrinas. Afirma a divindade de Cristo e a sua obra redentora

Não há lugar para cerimônias judaicas ou mediação de anjos

16 Ninguém, portanto, *vd.Rm 14.3vos julgue pelo *Mc 7.19;Rm 14.17;Hb 9.10comer, nem pelo beber, nem a respeito de um *Lv 23.2;Rm 14.5dia de festa ou *1Cr 23.31;2Cr 31.3;Ne 10.33, etc.de lua nova, ou de *Mc 2.27s.; vd.Gl 4.10s.sábado, 17 as quais coisas são *Hb 8.5;10.1sombras das vindouras, mas o corpo é de Cristo. 18 Ninguém, à sua *Cl 2.23vontade, *vd.1Co 9.24;Fp 3.14vos tire o vosso prêmio com humildade e culto aos anjos, firmando-se nas coisas que tem visto, *vd.1Co 4.6inchado vãmente pelo seu *cp.Rm 8.7entendimento carnal, 19 e não retendo *vd.Ef 1.22a cabeça, de quem *Ef 1.23;4.16todo o corpo, suprido e unido por meio das juntas e ligamentos, cresce com o crescimento de Deus.

A obediência a tais ordenanças não vence o pecado

20 *vd.Rm 6.2Se morrestes com Cristo aos *vd.Cl 2.8rudimentos do mundo, *Gl 4.9porque, como se vivendo no mundo, vos sujeitais a *cp.Cl 2.14,16ordenanças: 21 não manuseies, nem proves, nem toques 22 (as quais coisas são todas *1Co 6.13para destruição pelo uso), conforme os *Is 29.13;Mt 15.9;Tt 1.14mandamentos e doutrinas dos homens? 23 Elas têm, sem dúvida, certa aparência de sabedoria em culto voluntário, e *Cl 2.18humildade, e *cp.1Tm 4.3severidade para com o corpo; mas não têm valor algum e só servem *cp.Rm 13.14;1Tm 4.8para satisfazer a carne.

1 For I desire to have you know how greatly I struggle for you and for those at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; 2 that their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love, and gaining all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, 3 in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden. 4 Now I say this that no one may delude you with persuasiveness of speech. 5 For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in the spirit, rejoicing and seeing your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.

6 As therefore you received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, even as you were taught, abounding in it in thanksgiving.

8 Be careful that you don’t let anyone rob you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the elemental spirits of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him all the fullness of the Deity dwells bodily, 10 and in him you are made full, who is the head of all principality and power. 11 In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 You were dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh. He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us. He has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross. 15 Having stripped the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

16 Let no one therefore judge you in eating or drinking, or with respect to a feast day or a new moon or a Sabbath day, 17 which are a shadow of the things to come; but the body is Christ’s. 18 Let no one rob you of your prize by self-abasement and worshiping of the angels, dwelling in the things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, 19 and not holding firmly to the Head, from whom all the body, being supplied and knit together through the joints and ligaments, grows with God’s growth.

20 If you died with Christ from the elemental spirits of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, 21 "Don’t handle, nor taste, nor touch" 22 (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men? 23 These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imposed worship, humility, and severity to the body, but aren’t of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.
