Ezequiel 33

O dever do verdadeiro atalaia

1 Veio a mim a palavra de Jeová, dizendo: 2 Filho do homem, fala aos *Ez 33.12,17,30;Ez 3.11;37.18filhos do teu povo e dize-lhes: Quando eu *Ez 5.17;11.8;14.17;Jr 12.12;Zc 13.7fizer vir a espada sobre a terra, se o povo da terra tomar um dos seus e *Ez 33.7;2Sm 18.24;2Rs 9.17;Is 21.6-9;Jr 51.12o constituir por seu atalaia; 3 se, quando ele vir que vem a espada sobre a terra, *Ez 33.9;Ne 4.18-20;Is 58.1;Os 8.1;Jl 2.1tocar a trombeta e avisar ao povo; 4 então, todo aquele que ouvir o som da trombeta e *2Cr 25.16;Jr 6.17;Zc 1.4não se der por avisado, se vier a espada e o alcançar, o seu sangue será sobre a *Ez 33.5,9;Ez 18.13;At 18.6sua cabeça. 5 Ele ouviu o som da trombeta, e não se deu por avisado; o seu sangue será sobre ele. Porém, se se tivesse dado por avisado, teria *Êx 9.19-21;Hb 11.7salvado a sua vida. 6 Mas, se o atalaia vir que vem a espada *Ez 3.18;Is 56.10-11e não tocar a trombeta, e o povo não for avisado, e vier a espada e levar alguma pessoa dentre eles, este tal *Ez 33.8-9;Ez 18.20,24foi levado na sua iniquidade, mas *Ez 3.18,20o seu sangue, eu o requererei da mão do atalaia.

7 Assim, filho do homem, eu *Ez 3.17-21;Is 62.6te constituí por atalaia à casa de Israel; portanto, ouve da minha boca a palavra, *Ez 2.7-8;Jr 1.17;26.2;At 5.20e, da minha parte, dá-lhes aviso. 8 Quando eu disser ao ímpio: Ó ímpio, *Ez 33.14;Ez 18.4,13,18,20;Is 3.11certamente, morrerás, e tu não falares para dissuadir ao ímpio do seu caminho, morrerá esse ímpio na sua iniquidade, mas o seu sangue, eu o *Ez 33.6requererei da tua mão. 9 Todavia, *Ez 33.3se advertires o ímpio do seu caminho para que dele se converta, e ele *At 13.40-41,46não se converter do seu caminho, morrerá ele na sua iniquidade, *Ez 3.19,21;At 20.26mas tu livraste a tua alma.

O Senhor julga justamente

10 Tu, pois, filho do homem, dize à casa de Israel: Assim falais vós, dizendo: *Ez 18.2As nossas transgressões e os nossos pecados estão sobre nós, e *Ez 4.17;24.23;Lv 26.39nós desfalecemos neles; *Ez 37.11;Is 49.14como havemos de viver? 11 Dize-lhes: *Ez 5.11;Is 49.18Pela minha vida, diz o Senhor Jeová, *Ez 18.23,32;Os 11.8não tenho prazer na morte do ímpio, mas, sim, em que o ímpio *1Tm 2.4;2Pe 3.9se converta do seu caminho e viva. *Ez 18.30-31;Is 55.6-7;Jr 3.22;31.20;Os 14.1;At 3.19Convertei-vos, convertei-vos dos vossos maus caminhos, pois por que morrereis, ó casa de Israel? 12 Tu, filho do homem, dize aos filhos do teu povo: *Ez 33.18;Ez 3.18;18.24A justiça do justo não o livrará no dia da sua transgressão; quanto à impiedade do ímpio, por ela *Ez 33.19;Ez 18.21;2Cr 7.14não cairá ele no dia em que se converter da sua impiedade; nem poderá o que for justo viver pela sua justiça, no dia em que ele pecar. 13 Quando eu disser ao justo que, certamente, viverá, se ele confiar na sua justiça e *Ez 18.26;Hb 10.38;2Pe 2.20-21cometer a iniquidade, nenhuma das suas obras de justiça será lembrada; mas, na sua iniquidade que cometeu, nessa morrerá. 14 Demais, quando eu disser ao ímpio: Certamente, morrerás, *Ez 33.8;Ez 18.27;Is 55.7;Jr 18.7-8;Os 14.1,4se ele se converter do seu pecado e praticar o *Mq 6.8juízo e a justiça, 15 se esse ímpio *Ez 18.7restituir o penhor, *Êx 22.1-4;Lv 6.4-5;Lc 19.8entregar o que ele tinha furtado, andar nos *Ez 20.11;Sl 119.59;143.8estatutos da vida, não cometendo a iniquidade, certamente, viverá, não morrerá. 16 *Ez 18.22;Is 1.18;43.25Nenhum dos seus pecados que cometeu, será lembrado contra ele; ele praticou o juízo e a justiça; certamente, viverá.

17 *Ez 33.20;Ez 18.25Contudo, dizem os filhos do teu povo: O caminho do Senhor não é reto; quanto a eles, porém, o caminho deles não é reto. 18 Quando o justo se apartar da sua justiça e *Ez 33.12-13;Ez 3.20;18.24cometer a iniquidade, nesta morrerá; 19 e, quando o ímpio se converter da sua impiedade e praticar *Ez 33.12,14o juízo e a justiça, por estes viverá. 20 Contudo, *Ez 33.17;Ez 18.29dizeis: O caminho do Senhor não é reto. Casa de Israel, hei de julgar a cada um de vós *Ez 18.30conforme os seus caminhos.

Porque Jerusalém foi ferida

21 *Ez 31.1;32.1,17;40.1No *Ez 24.1-2;Jr 39.1-2;52.4-7duodécimo ano do nosso cativeiro e no décimo mês, aos cinco dias do mês, um homem que tinha *Ez 24.26escapado de Jerusalém veio a mim dizendo: Está ferida a cidade. 22 Ora, *Ez 1.3;8.1;37.1a mão de Jeová estivera sobre mim pela tarde, antes que viesse o que tinha escapado; *Ez 3.26-27;24.27abrira-se-me a boca, até que veio ter comigo o tal homem pela manhã, e *Lc 1.64não fiquei mais em silêncio.

23 Veio a mim a palavra de Jeová, dizendo: 24 Filho do homem, os que *Ez 33.27;Jr 39.10;40.7habitam esses *Ez 36.4lugares desertos na terra de Israel dizem: *Is 51.2;At 7.5Abraão era um só e ele herdou a terra; nós, porém, somos muitos; a nós *Ez 11.15;Lc 3.8;Rm 4.12nos é dada por herança a terra. 25 Pelo que lhes dirás: Assim diz o Senhor Jeová: Comeis a carne com o *Lv 17.10,12,14;Dt 12.16,23;15.23sangue, e *Ez 20.24levantais os vossos olhos para os vossos ídolos, *Ez 22.3,27e derramais o sangue; porventura, *Jr 7.9-10haveis de possuir a terra? 26 Sobre a vossa espada *Mq 2.1-2;Sf 3.3vos estribais, cometeis abominações e *Ez 18.11;22.11contaminais cada um a mulher do seu próximo; e haveis de possuir a terra? 27 Assim lhes dirás: Isto diz o Senhor Jeová: Pela minha vida, certamente, à espada *Ez 33.24;Ez 5.12-14;Jr 15.2-4;42.22cairão os que estão nos lugares desertos, e aquele que está no *Ez 7.15;37.4campo aberto, entregá-lo-ei às feras, para que o devorem, e os que estiverem nos lugares fortes e nas *1Sm 13.6;Is 2.19cavernas morrerão de peste. 28 Tornarei a terra em desolação e em *Ez 5.15;6.14;Jr 42.22;Mq 7.13espanto, e cessará a *Ez 7.24;24.21;30.6-7soberba do seu poder; *Ez 6.1-6;36.4os montes de Israel serão desolados, de sorte que não haja quem passe por eles. 29 Saberão que eu sou Jeová, quando eu tiver tornado a terra em *Ez 23.33desolação e em espanto, por causa de todas as *Ez 23.35abominações que eles têm cometido.

30 Quanto a ti, filho do homem, *Ez 33.2,17os filhos do teu povo falam de ti junto às paredes e nas portas das casas e dizem uns para os outros: *Ez 14.3;20.3,31;Is 29.13;58.2Vinde, rogo-vos, e ouvi qual seja a palavra que procede de Jeová. 31 Eles vêm ter contigo *Ez 14.1;20.1como se ajunta o povo, e se assentam diante de ti como o meu povo, e *Jr 6.17;43.1-7;44.15-16ouvem as tuas palavras, porém não as põem por obra, pois com a *Sl 78.36-37;Is 29.13;1Jo 3.18sua boca professam muito amor, mas o seu coração *Ez 22.13,27;Lc 12.15segue a sua ganância. 32 Eis que tu és para eles como uma canção mui linda do que tem *Mc 6.20;Jo 5.35uma voz agradável, porque eles ouvem as tuas palavras, porém não as põem por obra. 33 Quando isso *Ez 33.29;Jr 28.9suceder (eis que está a suceder), saberão que houve entre eles *Ez 2.5um profeta.

1 Yahweh’s word came to me, saying, 2 "Son of man, speak to the children of your people, and tell them, ‘When I bring the sword on a land, and the people of the land take a man from among them, and set him for their watchman, 3 if, when he sees the sword come on the land, he blows the trumpet and warns the people, 4 then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet and doesn’t heed the warning, if the sword comes and takes him away, his blood will be on his own head. 5 He heard the sound of the trumpet and didn’t take warning. His blood will be on him; whereas if he had heeded the warning, he would have delivered his soul. 6 But if the watchman sees the sword come and doesn’t blow the trumpet, and the people aren’t warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.’

7 "So you, son of man, I have set you a watchman to the house of Israel. Therefore hear the word from my mouth, and give them warnings from me. 8 When I tell the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ and you don’t speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man will die in his iniquity, but I will require his blood at your hand. 9 Nevertheless, if you warn the wicked of his way to turn from it, and he doesn’t turn from his way; he will die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your soul.

10 "You, son of man, tell the house of Israel: ‘You say this, "Our transgressions and our sins are on us, and we pine away in them. How then can we live?"’ 11 Tell them, ‘"As I live," says the Lord Yahweh, "I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why will you die, house of Israel?"’

12 "You, son of man, tell the children of your people, ‘The righteousness of the righteous will not deliver him in the day of his disobedience. And as for the wickedness of the wicked, he will not fall by it in the day that he turns from his wickedness; neither will he who is righteous be able to live by it in the day that he sins. 13 When I tell the righteous that he will surely live, if he trusts in his righteousness and commits iniquity, none of his righteous deeds will be remembered; but he will die in his iniquity that he has committed. 14 Again, when I say to the wicked, "You will surely die," if he turns from his sin and does that which is lawful and right, 15 if the wicked restore the pledge, give again that which he had taken by robbery, walk in the statutes of life, committing no iniquity, he will surely live. He will not die. 16 None of his sins that he has committed will be remembered against him. He has done that which is lawful and right. He will surely live.

17 "‘Yet the children of your people say, "The way of the Lord is not fair;" but as for them, their way is not fair. 18 When the righteous turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, he will even die therein. 19 When the wicked turns from his wickedness and does that which is lawful and right, he will live by it. 20 Yet you say, "The way of the Lord is not fair." House of Israel, I will judge every one of you after his ways.’"

21 In the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, one who had escaped out of Jerusalem came to me, saying, "The city has been defeated!" 22 Now Yahweh’s hand had been on me in the evening, before he who had escaped came; and he had opened my mouth until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no longer mute.

23 Yahweh’s word came to me, saying, 24 "Son of man, those who inhabit the waste places in the land of Israel speak, saying, ‘Abraham was one, and he inherited the land; but we are many. The land is given us for inheritance.’ 25 Therefore tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: "You eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes to your idols, and shed blood. So should you possess the land? 26 You stand on your sword, you work abomination, and every one of you defiles his neighbor’s wife. So should you possess the land?"’

27 "You shall tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: "As I live, surely those who are in the waste places will fall by the sword. I will give whoever is in the open field to the animals to be devoured, and those who are in the strongholds and in the caves will die of the pestilence. 28 I will make the land a desolation and an astonishment. The pride of her power will cease. The mountains of Israel will be desolate, so that no one will pass through. 29 Then they will know that I am Yahweh, when I have made the land a desolation and an astonishment because of all their abominations which they have committed."’

30 "As for you, son of man, the children of your people talk about you by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak to one another, everyone to his brother, saying, ‘Please come and hear what the word is that comes out from Yahweh.’ 31 They come to you as the people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear your words, but don’t do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their gain. 32 Behold, you are to them as a very lovely song of one who has a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument; for they hear your words, but they don’t do them.

33 "When this comes to pass—behold, it comes—then they will know that a prophet has been among them."
