Jesus, o bom pastor

1 Em verdade, em verdade vos digo: o que não entra pela porta no aprisco das ovelhas, mas sobe por outra parte, este é *Jo 10.8ladrão e salteador; 2 mas o que entra pela porta, este é o *Jo 10.11s.pastor das ovelhas. 3 A este abre o porteiro, e as ovelhas ouvem a *Jo 10.4-5,16,27sua voz; e ele chama pelo nome as suas ovelhas e *cp.Jo 10.9as conduz para fora. 4 Depois de fazer sair todas as que lhe pertencem, vai adiante delas, e elas o seguem, porque conhecem a *Jo 10.3,5,16,27sua voz; 5 mas de modo algum seguirão o estranho; antes, fugirão dele, porque não conhecem a voz dos estranhos. 6 Jesus lhes fez essa *cp.Jo 16.25,29;2Pe 2.22comparação, mas eles não compreenderam que era o que ele lhes falava.

7 Tornou, pois, Jesus a dizer: Em verdade, em verdade vos digo: eu sou a *cp.Jo 10.1-2,9porta das ovelhas. 8 Todos os que vieram antes de mim são *Jo 10.1; cp.Jr 23.1s.;Ez 34.2ss.ladrões e salteadores; mas as ovelhas não os ouviram. 9 Eu sou a porta. Se alguém entrar por mim, será salvo; e entrará, sairá e achará pastagem. 10 O ladrão não vem senão para furtar, matar e destruir; eu vim para que elas *cp.Jo 5.40tenham vida e a tenham em abundância. 11 *Jo 10.14; cp.Is 40.11;Ez 34.11-16,23;Hb 13.20;1Pe 5.4;Ap 7.17Eu sou o bom pastor. O bom pastor *Jo 10.15,17-18;1Jo 3.16; cp.Jo 15.13dá a sua vida pelas ovelhas. 12 O que é mercenário e não *Jo 10.2pastor, a quem não pertencem as ovelhas, vê vir o lobo, abandona as ovelhas e foge, e o lobo as arrebata e dispersa. 13 O mercenário foge, porque é mercenário e não se importa com as ovelhas. 14 *Jo 10.11Eu sou o bom pastor, *Jo 10.27conheço as minhas ovelhas, e as que são minhas me conhecem a mim, 15 assim como *Mt 11.27o Pai me conhece, e eu conheço o Pai; *Jo 10.11,17-18e dou a minha vida pelas ovelhas. 16 Tenho também *cp.Is 56.8outras ovelhas que não são deste aprisco; estas também é necessário que eu as traga; elas ouvirão a minha voz, e haverá *cp.Jo 11.52;17.20s.;Ef 2.13-18;1Pe 2.25um rebanho e *cp.Ez 34.23;37.24um pastor. 17 Por isso, o Pai me ama, porque eu dou a minha vida para a reassumir. 18 *cp.Mt 26.53;Jo 2.19;5.26Ninguém a tira de mim, mas eu de mim mesmo a dou. Tenho direito de a dar e tenho direito de a reassumir; *cp.Jo 14.31;15.10;Fp 2.8;Hb 5.8esse mandamento recebi de meu Pai.

De novo houve uma dissensão entre os judeus

19 *Jo 7.43; cp.9.16Por causa desses discursos, houve de novo dissensão entre os judeus. 20 Muitos deles diziam: Ele *Jo 7.20tem demônio e *cp.Mc 3.21perdeu o juízo; por que o escutais? 21 Outros diziam: Essas palavras não são de um *Mt 4.24endemoninhado; *cp.Jo 9.32s.;Êx 4.11pode, porventura, o demônio abrir os olhos aos cegos?

A Festa da Dedicação. Jesus é interrogado

22 Então, celebrava-se em Jerusalém a Festa da Dedicação. 23 Era o inverno. Jesus passeava no templo, no *At 3.11;5.12Pórtico de Salomão. 24 Cercaram-no *Jo 1.19;Jo 10.31,33os judeus e perguntaram-lhe: Até quando nos deixarás suspensos? Se tu és o Cristo, dize-no-lo *cp.Jo 16.25;Lc 22.67francamente. 25 Respondeu-lhes Jesus: *cp.Jo 8.56,58Eu vo-lo disse, e não credes; *Jo 5.36;Jo 10.38as obras que eu faço em nome de meu Pai dão testemunho de mim; 26 mas vós não credes, porque *cp.Jo 8.47não sois das minhas ovelhas. 27 As minhas ovelhas *Jo 10.16;Jo 10.4ouvem a minha voz; *Jo 10.14eu as conheço, e elas me seguem. 28 Eu lhes dou *Jo 17.2s.;1Jo 2.25;5.11a vida eterna, e nunca jamais hão de perecer, *cp.Jo 6.37,39e ninguém as arrebatará da minha mão. 29 Aquilo que meu Pai me tem dado é maior do que tudo; e ninguém pode arrebatá-lo da mão do Pai. 30 *cp.Jo 17.21ss.Eu e meu Pai somos um. 31 Os judeus outra vez *Jo 8.59pegaram em pedras para lhe atirar. 32 Disse-lhes Jesus: Mostrei-vos muitas obras boas da parte do Pai; por qual dessas obras ides apedrejar-me. 33 Responderam-lhe os judeus: Não te vamos apedrejar por uma boa obra, mas por *Lv 24.16blasfêmia e porque, sendo tu homem, te *Jo 5.18fazes Deus. 34 Replicou-lhes Jesus: Não está escrito na *cp.Jo 8.17vossa *Sl 82.6; cp.Jo 12.34;15.25;Rm 3.19;1Co 14.21Lei: Eu disse que vós sois deuses? 35 Se ele chamou deuses àqueles a quem foi dirigida a palavra de Deus, e a Escritura não pode falhar, 36 daquele a quem o Pai *cp.Jo 6.69;Jr 1.5santificou e *Jo 3.17enviou ao mundo dizeis vós: Tu blasfemas, porque eu disse: *cp.Jo 10.30;Jo 5.17s.sou Filho de Deus? 37 *cp.Jo 15.24;Jo 10.25Se não faço as obras de meu Pai, não me creiais; 38 mas, se as faço, embora não me creiais, crede *Jo 10.25;Jo 14.11nas obras, para que conheçais e compreendais que *Jo 14.10-11,20;17.21,23o Pai está em mim, e eu estou no Pai. 39 *Jo 7.30De novo, procuravam prendê-lo; mas *cp.Jo 8.59;Lc 4.30ele saiu das suas mãos.

40 Retirou-se, *Jo 1.28outra vez, para além do Jordão, para o lugar onde João batizava no princípio; e ali ficou. 41 Muitos foram ter com ele e diziam: João, na verdade, não fez *Jo 2.11milagre algum; mas *Jo 1.27,30,34;3.27-30tudo quanto ele disse deste homem era verdade. 42 *Jo 7.31Muitos ali creram nele.

1 "Most certainly, I tell you, one who doesn’t enter by the door into the sheep fold, but climbs up some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2 But one who enters in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 Whenever he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5 They will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him; for they don’t know the voice of strangers." 6 Jesus spoke this parable to them, but they didn’t understand what he was telling them.

7 Jesus therefore said to them again, "Most certainly, I tell you, I am the sheep’s door. 8 All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep didn’t listen to them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters in by me, he will be saved, and will go in and go out and will find pasture. 10 The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.

11 "I am the good shepherd. ✝ 10:11 Isaiah 40:11; Ezekiel 34:11-12,15,22 The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who doesn’t own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, leaves the sheep, and flees. The wolf snatches the sheep and scatters them. 13 The hired hand flees because he is a hired hand and doesn’t care for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and I’m known by my own; 15 even as the Father knows me, and I know the Father. I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep which are not of this fold.✝10:16 Isaiah 56:8 I must bring them also, and they will hear my voice. They will become one flock with one shepherd. 17 Therefore the Father loves me, because I lay down my life, ✝10:17 Isaiah 53:7-8 that I may take it again. 18 No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down by myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. I received this commandment from my Father."

19 Therefore a division arose again among the Jews because of these words. 20 Many of them said, "He has a demon and is insane! Why do you listen to him?" 21 Others said, "These are not the sayings of one possessed by a demon. It isn’t possible for a demon to open the eyes of the blind, is it?"✝10:21 Exodus 4:11

22 It was the Feast of the Dedication*10:22 The "Feast of the Dedication" is the Greek name for "Hanukkah", a celebration of the rededication of the Temple. at Jerusalem. 23 It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in Solomon’s porch. 24 The Jews therefore came around him and said to him, "How long will you hold us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly."

25 Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you don’t believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name, these testify about me. 26 But you don’t believe, because you are not of my sheep, as I told you. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father who has given them to me is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one."

31 Therefore the Jews took up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, "I have shown you many good works from my Father. For which of those works do you stone me?"

33 The Jews answered him, "We don’t stone you for a good work, but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God."

34 Jesus answered them, "Isn’t it written in your law, ‘I said, you are gods’?✝10:34 Psalms 82:6 35 If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture can’t be broken), 36 do you say of him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You blaspheme,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? 37 If I don’t do the works of my Father, don’t believe me. 38 But if I do them, though you don’t believe me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in me, and I in the Father."

39 They sought again to seize him, and he went out of their hand. 40 He went away again beyond the Jordan into the place where John was baptizing at first, and he stayed there. 41 Many came to him. They said, "John indeed did no sign, but everything that John said about this man is true." 42 Many believed in him there.
