Lucas 21

A oferta da viúva pobre

1 *Lc 21.1-4;Mc 12.41-44Levantando os olhos, viu Jesus os ricos que lançavam as suas ofertas no gazofilácio. 2 Viu também uma pobre viúva lançar ali *Mc 12.42dois leptos*Um lepto valia 14 réis, moeda brasileira., 3 e disse: Em verdade vos digo que esta pobre viúva deu mais do que todos; 4 porque todos estes deram do que lhes sobrava; ela, porém, da sua pobreza deu *Mc 12.44tudo o que tinha para o seu sustento.

O sermão profético. A destruição do templo

5 *Lc 21.5-36;Mt 24;Mc 13Falando algumas pessoas a respeito do templo, como estava ornado de belas pedras e de donativos, disse: 6 Quanto ao que vedes, dias virão em que *Lc 19.44não ficará pedra sobre pedra, que não seja derribada. 7 Perguntaram-lhe: Mestre, quando, pois, sucederá isso? E que sinal haverá, quando estiver para se cumprir? 8 Respondeu ele: Vede que não sejais enganados; porque muitos virão em meu nome, dizendo: *Jo 8.24Sou eu; e também: O tempo está próximo; *cp.Lc 17.23não os sigais. 9 Quando ouvirdes falar de guerras e tumultos, não vos assusteis; pois é necessário que primeiro aconteçam essas coisas, mas não é ainda o fim.

O princípio das dores

10 Então, lhes disse: Levantar-se-á nação contra nação, e reino contra reino; 11 haverá grandes terremotos, pestes e fomes em diversos lugares, e haverá terrores e grandes sinais do céu. 12 Mas, antes de tudo isso, *Lc 21.12-17;Mt 10.19-22;Mc 13.11-13vos hão de prender e perseguir, entregando-vos às sinagogas e aos cárceres, levando-vos à presença de reis e governadores por causa do meu nome; 13 *cp.Fp 1.12isso se tornará em testemunho a vosso favor. 14 *Lc 12.11Determinai, pois, em vossos corações não premeditar como haveis de fazer a vossa defesa; 15 porque *cp.Lc 12.12eu vos darei uma boca e uma sabedoria a que todos os vossos adversários não poderão resistir, nem contradizer. 16 Sereis entregues até por vossos pais, irmãos, parentes e amigos, e alguns de vós serão mortos; 17 e sereis odiados de todos por causa do meu nome. 18 Mas de modo algum se perderá *Mt 10.30;Lc 12.7um cabelo da vossa cabeça; 19 *cp.Mt 10.22;24.13;Rm 2.7;5.3s.;Tg 1.3;Hb 10.36;2Pe 1.6pela vossa perseverança, ganhareis as vossas almas.

A grande tribulação

20 Mas, quando virdes os exércitos *Lc 19.43cercarem Jerusalém, então, sabei que está próxima a sua desolação. 21 Os que nessa ocasião se acharem na Judeia, fujam para os montes; *cp.Lc 17.31os que estiverem dentro da cidade, retirem-se; e os que estiverem no campo, não entrem na cidade; 22 porque estes *Is 63.4;Os 9.7; cp.Dn 9.24-27são dias de vingança, para se cumprir tudo o que está escrito. 23 Ai das que estiverem grávidas e das que amamentarem naqueles dias! Porque *cp.Dn 8.19;1Co 7.26haverá grande aflição sobre a terra e ira contra este povo. 24 Muitos cairão *Gn 34.26;Êx 17.13, etc.;Hb 11.34ao fio da espada e serão levados cativos para todas as nações, *cp.Is 63.18;Dn 8.13;Ap 11.2e Jerusalém será *Ap 11.2pisada pelos gentios, até *Rm 11.25se completarem os tempos deles.

A vinda do Filho do Homem

25 Haverá sinais no sol, na lua e nas estrelas, e sobre a terra haverá angústia das nações em perplexidade pelo bramido do mar e das ondas, 26 desfalecendo os homens de medo e pela expectação das coisas que sobreveem ao mundo; pois as potestades dos céus serão abaladas. 27 *Mt 24.30;Mc 13.26;Mt 16.27;26.64Então, verão o Filho do Homem vir numa nuvem, com poder e grande glória. 28 Quando, porém, essas coisas começarem a acontecer, exultai e levantai as vossas cabeças; porque *cp.Lc 18.7a vossa redenção se aproxima.

A parábola da figueira

29 Propôs-lhes uma parábola: Vede a figueira e todas as árvores; 30 quando começarem a brotar, *cp.Lc 12.57sabeis por vós mesmos, ao vê-las, que o verão está próximo; 31 assim também vós, quando virdes acontecerem essas coisas, sabei que *Mt 3.2está próximo o reino de Deus. 32 Em verdade vos digo que não passará esta geração, sem que tudo se cumpra. 33 *Mt 5.18;Lc 16.17Passará o céu e a terra, mas não passarão as minhas palavras.

Exortação à vigilância

34 *cp.Mt 24.42,44;Lc 12.40,45;Mc 4.19;1Ts 5.2ss.Guardai-vos, para não suceder que os vossos corações fiquem pesados com o excesso no comer e no beber e com os cuidados desta vida, e que aquele dia venha sobre vós de repente, como um laço; 35 pois há de vir a todos os que estão sobre a face da terra. 36 *Mc 13.33; cp.Lc 12.40Vigiai, porém, em todo o tempo, orando para que possais escapar de todas essas coisas que hão de acontecer e para que *cp.Lc 1.19;Ap 7.9;8.2;11.4, etc.possais manter-vos na presença do Filho do Homem.

O povo ia ter com ele para o ouvir

37 Jesus *Mt 26.55ensinava todos os dias no templo; e, saindo *Mc 11.19todas as noites, pousava *cp.Mt 21.1no monte chamado Olival. 38 E todo o povo ia de *Jo 8.2madrugada ao templo ter com ele, para o ouvir.

1 He looked up and saw the rich people who were putting their gifts into the treasury. 2 He saw a certain poor widow casting in two small brass coins.*21:2 literally, "two lepta." 2 lepta was about 1% of a day’s wages for an agricultural laborer. 3 He said, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow put in more than all of them, 4 for all these put in gifts for God from their abundance, but she, out of her poverty, put in all that she had to live on."

5 As some were talking about the temple and how it was decorated with beautiful stones and gifts, he said, 6 "As for these things which you see, the days will come in which there will not be left here one stone on another that will not be thrown down."

7 They asked him, "Teacher, so when will these things be? What is the sign that these things are about to happen?"

8 He said, "Watch out that you don’t get led astray, for many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he*21:8 or, I AM,’ and, ‘The time is at hand.’ Therefore don’t follow them. 9 When you hear of wars and disturbances, don’t be terrified, for these things must happen first, but the end won’t come immediately."

10 Then he said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 There will be great earthquakes, famines, and plagues in various places. There will be terrors and great signs from heaven. 12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you up to synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name’s sake. 13 It will turn out as a testimony for you. 14 Settle it therefore in your hearts not to meditate beforehand how to answer, 15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to withstand or to contradict. 16 You will be handed over even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends. They will cause some of you to be put to death. 17 You will be hated by all men for my name’s sake. 18 And not a hair of your head will perish.

19 "By your endurance you will win your lives.

20 "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is at hand. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let those who are in the middle of her depart. Let those who are in the country not enter therein. 22 For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who nurse infants in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath to this people. 24 They will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

25 "There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; and on the earth anxiety of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the waves; 26 men fainting for fear and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 But when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near."

29 He told them a parable. "See the fig tree and all the trees. 30 When they are already budding, you see it and know by your own selves that the summer is already near. 31 Even so you also, when you see these things happening, know that God’s Kingdom is near. 32 Most certainly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all things are accomplished. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away.

34 "So be careful, or your hearts will be loaded down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day will come on you suddenly. 35 For it will come like a snare on all those who dwell on the surface of all the earth. 36 Therefore be watchful all the time, praying that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man."

37 Every day Jesus was teaching in the temple, and every night he would go out and spend the night on the mountain that is called Olivet. 38 All the people came early in the morning to him in the temple to hear him.
