Jó contesta que os ímpios, muitas vezes, ficam sem castigo nesta vida

1 Por que o Todo-Poderoso não designa tempos?

E por que os que o conhecem não veem *Is 2.12;Jr 46.10;Ob 15;Sf 1.7os dias designados?

2 Há os que *Dt 19.14;27.17removem os limites,

roubam os rebanhos e os apascentam.

3 Levam o jumento do *Jó 6.27, ref.órfão,

tomam em penhor *Jó 22.9, ref.o boi da viúva.

4 Desviam do caminho *Jó 24.14;29.16;30.25;31.19aos necessitados;

*Jó 29.12;Sl 41.1;Pv 14.31;Am 8.4os pobres da terra juntos se escondem.

5 Como *Jó 39.5-8asnos monteses no deserto,

*Sl 104.23saem eles ao trabalho, procurando diligentemente a comida.

O ermo fornece-lhes sustento para seus filhos.

6 No campo, cortam o seu pasto.

E rabiscam na vinha do iníquo.

7 Passam a noite toda nus, sem roupa,

e não têm com que se cobrir no frio.

8 São molhados pelas chuvas dos montes

e, na falta dum abrigo, *Lm 4.5achegam-se a um rochedo.

9 Há os que arrancam do peito *Jó 6.27, ref.o órfão

e tomam em penhor a roupa dos pobres,

10 de modo que estes andam nus, sem roupa,

e, famintos, carregam os molhos.

11 Espremem azeite dentro das casas daqueles homens;

pisam nos lagares deles e padecem sede.

12 Da cidade levantam-se os gemidos moribundos,

e clama a alma dos feridos.

Contudo, Deus *Jó 9.23-24não o tem por loucura.

13 Estes são aqueles que se rebelam contra a luz;

não conhecem os caminhos dela,

nem permanecem nas suas veredas.

14 O homicida *Mq 2.1levanta-se ao romper da alva,

*Sl 10.8mata ao pobre e ao necessitado

e, de noite, torna-se ladrão.

15 Também os olhos do *Pv 7.9adúltero aguardam o crepúsculo,

dizendo: Ninguém me verá.

E disfarça o seu rosto.

16 De noite *Êx 22.2;Mt 6.19minam as casas;

de dia, se conservam encerrados.

Não conhecem a luz,

17 pois a manhã é para todos eles como a sombra da morte,

porque dela conhecem *Jó 15.21, ref.os pavores.

18 *Jó 22.11,16;27.20Passa rápido como o que é levado na superfície das águas.

*Jó 5.3Maldita é a porção dos tais na terra;

não anda mais pelo caminho *Jó 24.6,11das vinhas.

assim faz *Jó 21.13o Sheol aos que pecaram.

20 *Is 49.15A madre se esquecerá dele,

dele se banquetearão *Jó 21.26os vermes,

não será *Jó 18.17;Sl 34.16;Pv 10.7mais lembrado.

*Jó 19.10;Dn 4.14Como árvore, será quebrado o injusto,

21 aquele que devora o estéril que não tem filhos

e não faz o bem *Jó 22.9, ref.à viúva.

22 Não! *Jó 9.4, ref.Pela sua força, Deus prolonga os dias dos valentes.

Ei-los de pé, quando *Jó 18.20desesperavam da vida.

23 Ele lhes concede *Jó 12.6, ref.estar em segurança, e nisso se estribam.

E *Jó 10.4, ref.;11.11, ref.os seus olhos estão sobre os caminhos deles.

24 São exaltados, mas, *Sl 37.10em breve tempo, se vão;

são *Jó 14.21abatidos, colhidos como todos os mais,

são cortados como as espigas do trigo.

25 Se não é assim, *Jó 6.28;27.4quem me desmentirá

e reduzirá a nada as minhas palavras?

1 "Why aren’t times laid up by the Almighty?

Why don’t those who know him see his days?

2 There are people who remove the landmarks.

They violently take away flocks, and feed them.

3 They drive away the donkey of the fatherless,

and they take the widow’s ox for a pledge.

4 They turn the needy out of the way.

The poor of the earth all hide themselves.

5 Behold, as wild donkeys in the desert,

they go out to their work, seeking diligently for food.

The wilderness yields them bread for their children.

6 They cut their food in the field.

They glean the vineyard of the wicked.

7 They lie all night naked without clothing,

and have no covering in the cold.

8 They are wet with the showers of the mountains,

and embrace the rock for lack of a shelter.

9 There are those who pluck the fatherless from the breast,

and take a pledge of the poor,

10 so that they go around naked without clothing.

Being hungry, they carry the sheaves.

11 They make oil within the walls of these men.

They tread wine presses, and suffer thirst.

12 From out of the populous city, men groan.

The soul of the wounded cries out,

yet God doesn’t regard the folly.

13 "These are of those who rebel against the light.

They don’t know its ways,

nor stay in its paths.

14 The murderer rises with the light.

He kills the poor and needy.

In the night he is like a thief.

15 The eye also of the adulterer waits for the twilight,

saying, ‘No eye will see me.’

He disguises his face.

16 In the dark they dig through houses.

They shut themselves up in the daytime.

They don’t know the light.

17 For the morning is to all of them like thick darkness,

for they know the terrors of the thick darkness.

18 "They are foam on the surface of the waters.

Their portion is cursed in the earth.

They don’t turn into the way of the vineyards.

19 Drought and heat consume the snow waters,

so does Sheol*24:19 Sheol is the place of the dead. those who have sinned.

20 The womb will forget him.

The worm will feed sweetly on him.

He will be no more remembered.

Unrighteousness will be broken as a tree.

21 He devours the barren who don’t bear.

He shows no kindness to the widow.

22 Yet God preserves the mighty by his power.

He rises up who has no assurance of life.

23 God gives them security, and they rest in it.

His eyes are on their ways.

24 They are exalted; yet a little while, and they are gone.

Yes, they are brought low, they are taken out of the way as all others,

and are cut off as the tops of the ears of grain.

25 If it isn’t so now, who will prove me a liar,

and make my speech worth nothing?"
