1 Deus abençoou Noé e seus filhos: "Sede fecundos, disse-lhes ele, multiplicai-vos e enchei a terra.2 Vós sereis objeto de temor e de espanto para todo animal da terra, toda ave do céu, tudo o que se arrasta sobre o solo e todos os peixes do mar: eles vos são entregues em mão.3 Tudo o que se move e vive vos servirá de alimento; eu vos dou tudo isto, como vos dei a erva verde.4 Somente não comereis carne com a sua alma, com seu sangue.5 Eu pedirei conta de vosso sangue, por causa de vossas almas, a todo animal; e ao homem {que matar} o seu irmão, pedirei conta da alma do homem.6 Todo aquele que derramar o sangue humano terá seu próprio sangue derramado pelo homem, porque Deus fez o homem à sua imagem.7 Sede, pois, fecundos e multiplicai-vos, e espalhai-vos sobre a terra abundantemente."8 Disse também Deus a Noé e as seus filhos:9 "Vou fazer uma aliança convosco e com vossa posteridade,10 assim como com todos os seres vivos que estão convosco: as aves, os animais domésticos, todos os animais selvagens que estão convosco, desde todos aqueles que saíram da arca até todo animal da terra.11 Faço esta aliança convosco: nenhuma criatura será destruída pelas águas do dilúvio, e não haverá mais dilúvio para devastar a terra."12 Deus disse: "Eis o sinal da aliança que eu faço convosco e com todos os seres vivos que vos cercam, por todas as gerações futuras:13 Ponho o meu arco nas nuvens, para que ele seja o sinal da aliança entre mim e a terra.14 Quando eu tiver coberto o céu de nuvens por cima da terra, o meu arco aparecerá nas nuvens,15 e me lembrarei da aliança que fiz convosco e com todo ser vivo de toda espécie, e as águas não causarão mais dilúvio que extermine toda criatura.16 Quando eu vir o arco nas nuvens, eu me lembrarei da aliança eterna estabelecida entre Deus e todos os seres vivos de toda espécie que estão sobre a terra."17 Dirigindo-se a Noé, Deus acrescentou: "Este é o sinal da aliança que faço entre mim e todas as criaturas que estão na terra."18 Os filhos de Noé que saíram da arca eram Sem, Cam e Jafet. Cam era o pai de Canaã.19 Estes eram os três filhos de Noé. É por eles que foi povoada toda a terra.20 Noé, que era agricultor, plantou uma vinha.21 Tendo bebido vinho, embriagou-se, e apareceu nu no meio de sua tenda.22 Cam, o pai de Canaã, vendo a nudez de seu pai, saiu e foi contá-lo aos seus irmãos.23 Mas, Sem e Jafet, tomando uma capa, puseram-na sobre os seus ombros e foram cobrir a nudez de seu pai, andando de costas; e não viram a nudez de seu pai, pois que tinham os seus rostos voltados.24 Quando Noé despertou de sua embriaguez, soube o que lhe tinha feito o seu filho mais novo.25 "Maldito seja Canaã, disse ele; que ele seja o último dos escravos de seus irmãos!"26 E acrescentou : "Bendito seja o Senhor Deus de Sem, e Canaã seja seu escravo!27 Que Deus dilate a Jafet; e este habite nas tendas de Sem, e Canaã seja seu escravo!"28 Noé viveu ainda depois do dilúvio trezentos e cinqüenta anos.29 A duração total da vida de Noé foi de novecentos e cinqüenta anos; e morreu.

1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.2 And the fear of you, and the dread of you, shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the heaven; whatever is that moveth upon the earth, and all the fishes of the sea, are delivered into your hand.3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be yours for food; even as the green herbs have I given you all things.4 But flesh in which its life is, which is its blood, shall ye not eat.5 Your blood, however, on which your lives depend, will I require: at the hand of every beast will I require it; and at the hand of man, at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.6 Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God made he man.7 And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly on the earth, and multiply thereon.8 And God spoke unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,9 And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;10 And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you, from all those that go out of the ark, for every beast of the earth.11 And I will establish my covenant with you; and all flesh shall not be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there be any more a flood to destroy the earth.12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations.13 My bow I do set in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of the covenant between me and the earth.14 And it shall come to pass, that, when I bring a cloud over the earth, and the bow shall be seen in the cloud,15 I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature, of all flesh, that is upon the earth.17 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.18 And the sons of Noah that went forth from the ark, were Shem, Ham and Japheth; and Ham was the father of Canaan.19 These three were the sons of Noah, and of them was the whole earth overspread.20 And Noah, who was a husbandman, began his work, and he planted a vineyard.21 And he drank of the wine, and became drunken; and he uncovered himself within his tent.22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told it his two brothers without.23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon the shoulders of both of them, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were turned backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and discovered what his younger son had done unto him.25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.26 And he said, Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem; and Canaan shall be a servant unto them.27 May God enlarge the boundaries of Japheth, and may he dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be a servant unto them.28 And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.29 And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years; and he died.
