1 Crônicas 14

1 Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David with cedar trees, masons, and carpenters, to build him a house. 2 David perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel, for his kingdom was highly exalted, for his people Israel’s sake.

3 David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David became the father of more sons and daughters. 4 These are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, 5 Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, 6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, 7 Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

8 When the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went out against them. 9 Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim. 10 David inquired of God, saying, "Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?"

Yahweh said to him, "Go up; for I will deliver them into your hand."

11 So they came up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like waters breaking out. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.*14:11 "Baal Perazim" means "The Lord who breaks out". 12 They left their gods there; and David gave a command, and they were burned with fire.

13 The Philistines made another raid in the valley. 14 David inquired again of God; and God said to him, "You shall not go up after them. Turn away from them, and come on them opposite the mulberry trees. 15 When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines."

16 David did as God commanded him; and they attacked the army of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer. 17 The fame of David went out into all lands; and Yahweh brought the fear of him on all nations.

3 David tog sig ännu fler hustrur i Jerusalem, och David blev far till ännu fler söner och döttrar. 4 *2 Sam 5:13f, 1 Krön 3:5f. Dessa är namnen på de söner han fick i Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Natan, Salomo, 5 Jibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, 6 Noga, Nefeg, Jafia, 7 Elishama, Beeljada och Elifelet.

Seger över filisteerna

8 *2 Sam 5:17f. När filisteerna hörde att David hade blivit smord till kung över hela Israel, drog de alla upp för att söka efter David. När David hörde det drog han ut mot dem. 9 Filisteerna kom och ryckte in i Refaimdalen.*14:9RefaimdalenSydväst om Jerusalem (Jos 15:8, 18:16).10 David frågade då Gud: "Ska jag dra upp mot filisteerna? Kommer du då ge dem i min hand?" Herren svarade honom: "Dra upp. Jag ska ge dem i din hand." 11 *Jes 28:21. De drog upp till Baal-Perasim, och där besegrade David dem. David sade: "Gud bröt ner*14:11bröt nerHebr. parás. Baal-Perasim betyder alltså "genombrottens herre". mina fiender genom min hand som en flodvåg." Därav fick platsen namnet Baal-Perasim. 12 *5 Mos 7:5, 25. De lämnade sina gudar där, och David befallde att de skulle brännas upp i eld.

13 *2 Sam 5:22f. Men filisteerna ryckte in i dalen igen. 14 När David frågade Gud på nytt, svarade Gud honom: "Du ska inte dra dit upp efter dem. Gå runt dem och anfall dem från det håll där bakaträden står. 15 Så snart du hör ljudet av steg i bakaträdens*14:15bakaträdenHebr. baká betyder "gråta" (jfr Ps 84:7). Möjligen balsamträd (3-4 meter höga) vars doftande kåda utvanns som droppar. toppar ska du dra ut till strid, för då har Gud dragit ut framför dig för att slå filisteernas här." 16 David gjorde som Gud hade befallt honom. De slog filisteernas här och förföljde dem från Gibeon ända till Gezer.*14:16GezerStad drygt 3 mil väster om Jerusalem, nära gränsen till filisteernas område.17 *2 Krön 20:29. Och ryktet om David gick ut i alla länder, och Herren lät fruktan för honom komma över alla folk.
