1 João 5

1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God. Whoever loves the Father also loves the child who is born of him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments. 3 For this is loving God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

6 This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three who testify:*5:7 Only a few recent manuscripts add "in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that testify on earth:" 8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and the three agree as one. 9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is God’s testimony which he has testified concerning his Son. 10 He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who doesn’t believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son. 11 The testimony is this: that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He who has the Son has the life. He who doesn’t have God’s Son doesn’t have the life.

13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

14 This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. 15 And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.

16 If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life for those who sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I don’t say that he should make a request concerning this. 17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death.

18 We know that whoever is born of God doesn’t sin, but he who was born of God keeps himself, and the evil one doesn’t touch him. 19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 20 We know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols.

Tron på Guds Son

1 *Joh 1:12, 1 Joh 4:2. Var och en som tror att Jesus är Kristus är född av Gud. Och den som älskar Fadern älskar också den som är född av honom. 2 När vi älskar Gud och håller hans bud, då vet vi att vi älskar Guds barn. 3 *Matt 11:30, Joh 14:15, 2 Joh v 6. Detta är kärleken till Gud: att vi håller hans bud. Och hans bud är inte tunga, 4 *Joh 16:33. för allt som är fött av Gud besegrar världen. Och detta är den seger som har besegrat världen: vår tro. 5 *1 Kor 15:57, 1 Joh 4:4. Vem kan besegra världen utom den som tror att Jesus är Guds Son?

6 *Matt 3:13f, Joh 19:34. Han är den som kom genom vatten och blod, Jesus Kristus: inte bara genom vattnet, utan genom vattnet och blodet*5:6vattnet och blodetGnostikerna lade sin tonvikt vid Jesu dop i floden Jordan (vattnet, Matt 3:13f), men Johannes betonade även hans försoningsdöd på korset (blodet, Joh 19:34f).. Och Anden är den som vittnar, eftersom Anden är sanningen. 7 Det är tre som vittnar:*5:7Det är tre som vittnar:En del latinska handskrifter tillägger: "i himlen: Fadern, Ordet och den helige Ande, och dessa tre är ett. Och det är tre som vittnar på jorden:". Tillägget, "Comma Johanneum", saknas i samtliga grekiska handskrifter före 1300-talet.8 Anden, vattnet och blodet, och dessa tre är eniga. 9 *Joh 5:36f. Om vi godtar människors vittnesbörd så är Guds vittnesbörd starkare, för detta är Guds vittnesbörd som han har gett om sin Son. 10 *Rom 8:16, Joh 3:33. Den som tror på Guds Son har vittnesbördet inom sig*5:10inom sigAndra handskrifter: "i honom".. Den som inte tror på Gud gör honom till en lögnare, eftersom han inte tror på det vittnesbörd som Gud har gett om sin Son. 11 *Joh 1:4, 1 Joh 2:25. Och detta är vittnesbördet: Gud har gett oss evigt liv, och det livet är i hans Son. 12 *Joh 3:36. Den som har Sonen har livet. Den som inte har Guds Son har inte livet.

13 *Joh 20:31. Detta skriver jag till er för att ni ska veta att ni har evigt liv, ni som tror på Guds Sons namn. 14 *Matt 7:7, 1 Joh 3:21f. Och den tilliten har vi till honom, att om vi ber om något efter hans vilja så hör han oss. 15 Och om vi vet att han hör oss vad vi än ber om, då vet vi också att vi redan har det vi bett honom om.

16 *4 Mos 15:30, Matt 12:31, Hebr 6:4f. Om någon ser sin broder begå en synd som inte leder till döden, då ska han be och Gud ska ge honom liv. Detta gäller dem vilkas synd inte leder till döden. Det finns synd som leder till döden, och jag säger inte att man ska be för den. 17 *1 Joh 3:4. All orättfärdighet är synd, men det finns synd som inte leder till döden.

18 *1 Joh 3:9. Vi vet att ingen som är född av Gud syndar*5:18syndarAnnan översättning: "fortsätter synda".. Han som är född av Gud bevarar honom*5:18Han som är född av Gud bevarar honomDvs Jesus, som bevarar sina troende som är födda på nytt (jfr Joh 1:13, 3:3f). Andra handskrifter har i stället "Han som är född av Gud bevarar sig själv", vilket talar om den kristnes vaksamhet mot synden. så att den onde inte kan röra honom. 19 *Gal 1:4, 1 Joh 2:15f. Vi vet att vi är av Gud och att hela världen är i den ondes våld. 20 *Joh 17:3, 1 Joh 1:2. Men vi vet att Guds Son har kommit och gett oss förstånd så att vi känner den Sanne, och vi är i den Sanne, i hans Son Jesus Kristus. Han är den sanne Guden och det eviga livet.

21 *1 Kor 10:14. Kära barn, var på er vakt mot avgudarna.
