1 Corinthians 2:14-16

WMBBE World Messianic Bible (British Edition)

14 Now the natural man doesn’t receive the things of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to him; and he can’t know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual discerns all things, and he himself is to be judged by no one. 16 "For who has known the mind of the Lord that he should instruct him?" 2:16 Isaiah 40:13 But we have Messiah’s mind.

  1. KJV King James Version

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

  2. NIV New International Version

14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16 for,

"Who has known the mind of the Lord

so as to instruct him?"2:16 Isaiah 40:13

But we have the mind of Christ.

  4. NLT New Living Translation

14 But people who aren’t spiritual2:14 Or who don’t have the Spirit; or who have only physical life. can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. 15 Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others. 16 For,

"Who can know the Lord’s thoughts?

Who knows enough to teach him?"2:16 Isa 40:13 (Greek version).

But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.
