7 For every kind of beast and bird, and of creeping thing and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.

8 But no man is able to tame the tongue. It is an uncontrollable evil, full of deadly poison.


15 In being slow to anger a ruler is persuaded, and a soft tongue breaks the bone.


3 Jehovah shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaks proud things,

4 that has said, We shall be strong with our tongue; our lips are our own; who is lord over us?


1 I said, I will take heed to my ways so that I do not sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle while the wicked are before me.


9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him a name which is above every name,

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in Heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.


1 If I were to speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become as sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.


2 For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a flawless man, able also to bridle the whole body.


36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.


21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it shall eat the fruit of it.


9 Swallow up, O Lord, and divide their tongues; for I have seen violence and strife in the city.


28 And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness and of Your praise all day long.


19 The lips of truth shall be established forever, but a lying tongue is but for a twinkling moment.


12 Who is the man that desires life, and loves days, that he may see good?

13 Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking guile.


18 There are those who speak like the thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise heals.


9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the image of God.

10 Out of the same mouth comes forth blessing and cursing. My brethren, it is not fitting that these things be this way.

11 Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?

12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.


4 For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O Jehovah, You know it altogether.


28 Even a fool, when he is silent, is counted wise; and he who shuts his lips, as a man of understanding.


26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but beguiles his own heart, this ones religion is vain.


2 Rescue my soul, O Jehovah, from lying lips and from a deceitful tongue.


30 The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of justice.

31 The Law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.


19 In the abundance of words there is no end of transgression, but he who restrains his lips is prudent.


3 Behold, we put bits in horses mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body.

4 Behold also the ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the helmsman desires.

5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. Behold, how large a forest a little fire kindles.

6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. Thus the tongue is set among our members, defiling the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by Gehenna.


5 And Jehovah came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built.

6 And Jehovah said, Behold, the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they devise to do will be withheld from them.

7 Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they cannot understand one anothers speech.

8 So Jehovah scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city.

9 Therefore its name is called Babel, because there Jehovah confused the language of all the earth; and from there Jehovah scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.
