1 E estas são as gerações de Arão e de Moisés, no dia em que o Senhor falou com Moisés, no monte Sinai.2 E estes são os nomes dos filhos de Arão: o primogênito Nadabe; depois Abiú, Eleazar e Itamar.3 Estes são os nomes dos filhos de Arão, dos sacerdotes ungidos, cujas mãos foram consagradas para administrar o sacerdócio.4 Mas Nadabe e Abiú morreram perante o Senhor, quando ofereceram fogo estranho perante o Senhor no deserto de Sinai, e não tiveram filhos; porém Eleazar e Itamar administraram o sacerdócio diante de Arão, seu pai.5 E falou o Senhor a Moisés, dizendo:6 Faze chegar a tribo de Levi, e põe-na diante de Arão, o sacerdote, para que o sirvam,7 E tenham cuidado da sua guarda, e da guarda de toda a congregação, diante da tenda da congregação, para administrar o ministério do tabernáculo.8 E tenham cuidado de todos os utensílios da tenda da congregação, e da guarda dos filhos de Israel, para administrar o ministério do tabernáculo.9 Darás, pois, os levitas a Arão e a seus filhos; dentre os filhos de Israel lhes são dados em dádiva.10 Mas a Arão e a seus filhos ordenarás que guardem o seu sacerdócio, e o estranho que se chegar morrerá.11 E falou o Senhor a Moisés, dizendo:12 E eu, eis que tenho tomado os levitas do meio dos filhos de Israel, em lugar de todo o primogênito, que abre a madre, entre os filhos de Israel; e os levitas serão meus.13 Porque todo o primogênito é meu; desde o dia em que tenho ferido a todo o primogênito na terra do Egito, santifiquei para mim todo o primogênito em Israel, desde o homem até ao animal: meus serão; Eu sou o Senhor.14 E falou o Senhor a Moisés no deserto de Sinai, dizendo:15 Conta os filhos de Levi, segundo a casa de seus pais, pelas suas famílias; contarás a todo o homem da idade de um mês para cima.16 E Moisés os contou conforme ao mandado do Senhor, como lhe foi ordenado.17 Estes, pois, foram os filhos de Levi pelos seus nomes: Gérson, e Coate e Merari.18 E estes são os nomes dos filhos de Gérson pelas suas famílias: Libni e Simei.19 E os filhos de Coate pelas suas famílias: Amrão, e Izar, Hebrom e Uziel.20 E os filhos de Merari pelas suas famílias: Mali e Musi; estas são as famílias dos levitas, segundo a casa de seus pais.21 De Gérson é a família dos libnitas e a família dos simeítas; estas são as famílias dos gersonitas.22 Os que deles foram contados pelo número de todo o homem da idade de um mês para cima, sim, os que deles foram contados eram sete mil e quinhentos.23 As famílias dos gersonitas armarão as suas tendas atrás do tabernáculo, ao ocidente.24 E o príncipe da casa paterna dos gersonitas será Eliasafe, filho de Lael.25 E os filhos de Gérson terão a seu cargo, na tenda da congregação, o tabernáculo, a tenda, a sua coberta, e o véu da porta da tenda da congregação.26 E as cortinas do pátio, e o pavilhão da porta do pátio, que estão junto ao tabernáculo e junto ao altar, em redor; como também as suas cordas para todo o seu serviço.27 E de Coate é a família dos amramitas, e a família dos jizaritas, e a família dos hebronitas, e a família dos uzielitas; estas são as famílias dos coatitas.28 Pelo número contado de todo o homem da idade de um mês para cima, eram oito mil e seiscentos, que tinham cuidado da guarda do santuário.29 As famílias dos filhos de Coate armarão as suas tendas ao lado do tabernáculo, do lado do sul.30 E o príncipe da casa paterna das famílias dos coatitas será Elisafã, filho de Uziel.31 E a sua guarda será a arca, e a mesa, e o candelabro, e os altares, e os utensílios do santuário com que ministram, e o véu com todo o seu serviço.32 E o príncipe dos príncipes de Levi será Eleazar, filho de Arão, o sacerdote; terá a superintendência sobre os que têm cuidado da guarda do santuário.33 De Merari é a família dos malitas e a família dos musitas; estas são as famílias de Merari.34 E os que deles foram contados pelo número de todo o homem de um mês para cima, foram seis mil e duzentos.35 E o príncipe da casa paterna das famílias de Merari será Zuriel, filho de Abiail; armarão as suas tendas ao lado do tabernáculo, do lado do norte.36 E os filhos de Merari terão a seu cargo as tábuas do tabernáculo, os seus varais, as suas colunas, as suas bases, e todos os seus utensílios, com todo o seu serviço.37 E as colunas do pátio em redor, e as suas bases, as suas estacas e as suas cordas.38 E os que armarão as suas tendas diante do tabernáculo, ao oriente, diante da tenda da congregação, para o nascente, serão Moisés e Arão, com seus filhos, tendo o cuidado da guarda do santuário, pela guarda dos filhos de Israel; e o estranho que se chegar morrerá.39 Todos os que foram contados dos levitas, que contaram Moisés e Arão por mandado do Senhor, segundo as suas famílias, todo o homem de um mês para cima, foram vinte e dois mil.40 E disse o Senhor a Moisés: Conta todo o primogênito homem dos filhos de Israel, da idade de um mês para cima, e toma o número dos seus nomes,41 E para mim tomarás os levitas (eu sou o Senhor), em lugar de todo o primogênito dos filhos de Israel, e os animais dos levitas, em lugar de todo o primogênito entre os animais dos filhos de Israel.42 E contou Moisés, como o Senhor lhe ordenara, todo o primogênito entre os filhos de Israel.43 E todos os primogênitos homens, pelo número dos nomes dos da idade de um mês para cima, segundo os que eram contados deles, foram vinte e dois mil e duzentos e setenta e três.44 E falou o Senhor a Moisés, dizendo:45 Toma os levitas em lugar de todo o primogênito entre os filhos de Israel, e os animais dos levitas em lugar dos seus animais; porquanto os levitas serão meus: Eu sou o Senhor.46 Quanto aos duzentos e setenta e três, que se houverem de resgatar dos primogênitos dos filhos de Israel, que excedem ao número dos levitas,47 Tomarás, por cabeça, cinco siclos; conforme ao siclo do santuário os tomarás, a vinte geras o siclo.48 E a Arão e a seus filhos darás o dinheiro dos resgatados, dos que sobram entre eles.49 Então Moisés tomou o dinheiro do resgate dos que excederam sobre os resgatados pelos levitas.50 Dos primogênitos dos filhos de Israel recebeu o dinheiro, mil e trezentos e sessenta e cinco siclos, segundo o siclo do santuário.51 E Moisés deu o dinheiro dos resgatados a Arão e a seus filhos, segundo o mandado do Senhor, como o Senhor ordenara a Moisés.

1 And these are the generations of Aaron and Moses, on the day that the Lord spoke with Moses on mount Sinai.2 And these are the names of the sons of Aaron: the firstborn Nadab, and Abihu, Elazar, and Ithamar.3 These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests that were anointed, who were consecrated to minister as priests.4 And Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord, when they offered a strange fire before the Lord, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Elazar and Ithamar ministered as priests in the life–time of Aaron their father.5 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,6 Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present the same before Aaron the priest, that they may serve him.7 And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tent of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.8 And they shall keep all the vessels of the tent of the congregation, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.9 And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: as associates are they given unto him out of the children of Israel.10 And Aaron and his sons shalt thou instruct, that they shall guard well their priest’s office; and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.11 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,12 And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from the midst of the children of Israel instead of every first–born that openeth the womb among the children of Israel; and the Levites shall be mine.13 Because mine is every first–born; on the day when I smote every first–born in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me every first–born in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be; I am the Lord.14 And the Lord spoke unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying,15 Number the children of Levi after their divisions, by their families; every male of them from a month old and upward shalt thou number.16 And Moses numbered them according to the order of the Lord, as he had been commanded.17 And these were the sons of Levi by their names: Gershon, and Kehath, and Merari.18 And these are the names of the sons of Gershon after their families: Libni, and Shimi.19 And the sons of Kehath after their families: ‘Amram, and Yizhar, Chebron, and ‘Uzziel.20 And the sons of Merari after their families: Machli, and Mushi; these are the families of the Levites according to their family divisions.21 Of Gershon: the family of the Libnites, and the family of the Shimites; these are the families of the Gershunites.22 Those that were numbered of them, by the numbering of all the males from a month old and upward, even those that were numbered of them, were seven thousand and five hundred.23 The families of the Gershunites used to encamp behind the tabernacle, westward.24 And the prince of the family division of the Gershunites was Elyassaph the son of Lael.25 And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation was the tabernacle and the tent, its covering, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,26 And the hangings of the court, and the curtain for the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle and by the altar, round about, and its cords for all the service thereof.27 And of Kehath: the family of the ‘Amramites, and the family of the Yizharites, and the family of the Chebronites, and the family of the ‘Uzzielites; these are the families of the Kehathites.28 By the numbering of all the males, from a month old and upward, they were eight thousand and six hundred, keeping the charge of the sanctuary.29 The families of the sons of Kehath used to encamp on the side of the tabernacle, southward.30 And the prince of the division of the families of the Kehathites was Elizaphan the son of ‘Uzziel.31 And their charge was the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary which are used for the service, and the vail, and all belonging thereto.32 And the chief over the princes of the Levites was Elazar the son of Aaron the priest, having the oversight of those that kept the charge of the sanctuary.33 Of Merari: the family of the Machlites, and the family of the Mushites; these are the families of Merari.34 And those that were numbered of them, by the numbering of all the males, from a month old and upward, were six thousand and two hundred.35 And the chief of the division of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abichayil: they used to encamp on the side of the tabernacle, northward.36 And under the custody and charge of the sons of Merari were the boards of the tabernacle, and its bars, and its pillars, and its sockets, and all its vessels, and all that belongeth thereto,37 And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords.38 But those that encamped before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation toward the rising of the sun, were Moses, and Aaron, and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that came nigh was to be put to death.39 All that were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses numbered with Aaron, at the order of the Lord, according to their families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty and two thousand.40 And the Lord said unto Moses, Number all the first–born males of the children of Israel from a month old and upward, and take the number of their names.41 And thou shalt take the Levites for me, I am the Lord, instead of all the first–born among the children of Israel; and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the first–born among the cattle of the children of Israel.42 And Moses numbered, as the Lord had commanded him, all the first–born among the children of Israel.43 And all the first–born males, by the numbering of the names, from a month old and upward, of those that were numbered of them, were twenty and two thousand two hundred and seventy and three.44 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,45 Take the Levites instead of all the first–born among the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the Lord.46 And for those that are to be redeemed, the two hundred and seventy and three of the first–born of the children of Israel, who are more than the Levites,47 Thou shalt take five shekels apiece for the poll; after the shekel of the sanctuary shalt thou take, twenty gerahs to the shekel;48 And thou shalt give unto Aaron and to his sons the money, for those who are to be redeemed of those that are over the number of them.49 And Moses took the redemption–money of those that were over in number above those who were redeemed by the Levites:50 Of the first–born of the children of Israel did he take the money; a thousand three hundred and sixty and five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary.51 And Moses gave the money of those who were redeemed unto Aaron and unto his sons, by the order of the Lord; as the Lord had commanded Moses.
