1 And they came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gerasenes. 2 And when he was come out of the boat, straightway there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, 3 who had his dwelling in the tombs: and no man could any more bind him, no, not with a chain; 4 because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been rent asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: and no man had strength to tame him. 5 And always, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself with stones. 6 And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshipped him; 7 and crying out with a loud voice, he saith, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I adjure thee by God, torment me not. 8 For he said unto him, Come forth, thou unclean spirit, out of the man. 9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he saith unto him, My name is Legion; for we are many. 10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. 11 Now there was there on the mountain side a great herd of swine feeding. 12 And they besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. 13 And he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered into the swine: and the herd rushed down the steep into the sea, in number about two thousand; and they were drowned in the sea. 14 And they that fed them fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they came to see what it was that had come to pass. 15 And they come to Jesus, and behold him that was possessed with demons sitting, clothed and in his right mind, even him that had the legion: and they were afraid. 16 And they that saw it declared unto them how it befell him that was possessed with demons, and concerning the swine. 17 And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders. 18 And as he was entering into the boat, he that had been possessed with demons besought him that he might be with him. 19 And he suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go to thy house unto thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and how he had mercy on thee. 20 And he went his way, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men marvelled.

21 And when Jesus had crossed over again in the boat unto the other side, a great multitude was gathered unto him; and he was by the sea. 22 And there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jaïrus by name; and seeing him, he falleth at his feet, 23 and beseecheth him much, saying, My little daughter is at the point of death: I pray thee, that thou come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be made whole, and live. 24 And he went with him; and a great multitude followed him, and they thronged him.

25 And a woman, who had an issue of blood twelve years, 26 and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, 27 having heard the things concerning Jesus, came in the crowd behind, and touched his garment. 28 For she said, If I touch but his garments, I shall be made whole. 29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her plague. 30 And straightway Jesus, perceiving in himself that the power proceeding from him had gone forth, turned him about in the crowd, and said, Who touched my garments? 31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? 32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. 33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what had been done to her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. 34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

35 While he yet spake, they come from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Teacher any further? 36 But Jesus, not heeding the word spoken, saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Fear not, only believe. 37 And he suffered no man to follow with him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. 38 And they come to the house of the ruler of the synagogue; and he beholdeth a tumult, and many weeping and wailing greatly. 39 And when he was entered in, he saith unto them, Why make ye a tumult, and weep? the child is not dead, but sleepeth. 40 And they laughed him to scorn. But he, having put them all forth, taketh the father of the child and her mother and them that were with him, and goeth in where the child was. 41 And taking the child by the hand, he saith unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, Arise. 42 And straightway the damsel rose up, and walked; for she was twelve years old. And they were amazed straightway with a great amazement. 43 And he charged them much that no man should know this: and he commanded that something should be given her to eat.

1 Au*Mat. 8:28.Luca 8:26. ajuns pe celălalt țărm al mării, în ținutul gadarenilor. 2 Când a ieșit Isus din corabie, L-a întâmpinat îndată un om care ieșea din morminte, stăpânit de un duh necurat. 3 Omul acesta își avea locuința în morminte și nimeni nu mai putea să-l țină legat, nici chiar cu un lanț. 4 Căci de multe ori fusese legat cu picioarele în obezi și cu cătușe la mâini, dar rupsese cătușele și sfărâmase obezile, și nimeni nu-l putea domoli. 5 Totdeauna, zi și noapte, stătea în morminte și pe munți, țipând și tăindu-se cu pietre. 6 Când a văzut pe Isus de departe, a alergat, I s-a închinat 7 și a strigat cu glas tare: „Ce am eu a face cu Tine, Isuse, Fiul Dumnezeului celui Preaînalt? Te jur în Numele lui Dumnezeu să nu mă chinuiești!" 8 Căci Isus îi zicea: „Duh necurat, ieși din omul acesta!"9 „Care-ți este numele?", l-a întrebat Isus. „Numele meu este Legiune", a răspuns el, „pentru că suntem mulți." 10 Și Îl ruga stăruitor să nu-i trimită afară din ținutul acela. 11 Acolo, lângă munte, era o turmă mare de porci care pășteau. 12 Și dracii L-au rugat și au zis: „Trimite-ne în porcii aceia, ca să intrăm în ei." 13 Isus le-a dat voie. Și duhurile necurate au ieșit și au intrat în porci; și turma s-a repezit de pe râpă în mare. Erau aproape două mii și s-au înecat în mare. 14 Porcarii au fugit și au dat de știre în cetate și prin satele vecine. Oamenii au ieșit să vadă ce s-a întâmplat. 15 Au venit la Isus, și iată pe cel ce fusese îndrăcit și avusese legiunea de draci șezând jos îmbrăcat și întreg la minte; și s-au înspăimântat. 16 Cei ce văzuseră cele întâmplate, le-au povestit tot ce se petrecuse cu cel îndrăcit și cu porcii. 17 Atunci au*Mat. 8:34.Fapte 16:39. început să roage pe Isus să plece din ținutul lor. 18 Pe când Se suia El în corabie, omul*Luca 8:38. care fusese îndrăcit Îl ruga să-l lase să rămână cu El. 19 Isus nu i-a dat voie, ci i-a zis: „Du-te acasă la ai tăi și povestește-le tot ce ți-a făcut Domnul și cum a avut milă de tine."20 El a plecat și a început să vestească prin Decapole tot ce-i făcuse Isus. Și toți se minunau.

21 După*Mat. 9:1.Luca 8:40. ce a trecut Isus iarăși de cealaltă parte cu corabia, s-a adunat mult norod în jurul Lui. El stătea lângă mare. 22 Atunci*Mat. 9:18.Luca 8:41. a venit unul din fruntașii sinagogii, numit Iair. Cum L-a văzut, fruntașul s-a aruncat la picioarele Lui 23 și I-a făcut următoarea rugăminte stăruitoare: „Fetița mea trage să moară; rogu-Te, vino de-Ți pune mâinile peste ea, ca să se facă sănătoasă și să trăiască." 24 Isus a plecat împreună cu el. Și după El mergea mult norod și-L îmbulzea. 25 Și era o femeie care de doisprezece ani avea*Lev. 15:25.Mat. 9:20. o scurgere de sânge. 26 Ea suferise mult de la mulți doctori, cheltuise tot ce avea și nu simțise nicio ușurare, ba încă îi era mai rău. 27 A auzit vorbindu-se despre Isus, a venit pe dinapoi prin mulțime și s-a atins de haina Lui. 28 Căci își zicea ea: „Dacă aș putea doar să mă ating de haina Lui, mă voi tămădui." 29 Și îndată, a secat izvorul sângelui ei. Și a simțit în tot trupul ei că s-a tămăduit de boală. 30 Isus a cunoscut îndată că o putere*Luca 6:19;8:46. ieșise din El și, întorcându-Se spre mulțime, a zis: „Cine s-a atins de hainele Mele?"31 Ucenicii I-au zis: „Vezi că mulțimea Te îmbulzește și mai zici: ‘Cine s-a atins de Mine?’" 32 El Se uita de jur împrejur să vadă pe cea care făcuse lucrul acesta. 33 Femeia, înfricoșată și tremurând, căci știa ce se petrecuse în ea, a venit de s-a aruncat la picioarele Lui și I-a spus tot adevărul. 34 Dar Isus i-a zis: „Fiică, credința*Mat. 9:22. Cap. 10:52.Fapte 14:9.ta te-a mântuit; du-te în pace și fii tămăduită de boala ta."35 Pe când vorbea El încă*Luca 8:49., iată că vin niște oameni de la fruntașul sinagogii, care-i spun: „Fiica ta a murit; pentru ce mai superi pe Învățătorul?" 36 Dar Isus, fără să țină seamă de cuvintele acestea, a zis fruntașului sinagogii: „Nu te teme, crede numai!"37 Și n-a îngăduit nimănui să-L însoțească, afară de Petru, Iacov și Ioan, fratele lui Iacov. 38 Au ajuns la casa fruntașului sinagogii. Acolo, Isus a văzut o zarvă și pe unii care plângeau și se tânguiau mult. 39 A intrat înăuntru și le-a zis: „Pentru ce faceți atâta zarvă și pentru ce plângeți? Copila n-a murit, ci doarme*Ioan 11:11.."40 Ei își băteau joc de El. Atunci*Fapte 9:40., după ce i-a scos afară pe toți, a luat cu El pe tatăl copilei, pe mama ei și pe cei ce-L însoțiseră și a intrat acolo unde zăcea copila. 41 A apucat-o de mână și i-a zis: „Talita cumi", care, tălmăcit, înseamnă: „Fetițo, scoală-te, îți zic!"42 Îndată, fetița s-a sculat și a început să umble, căci era de doisprezece ani. Ei au rămas încremeniți. 43 Isus le-a*Mat. 8:4;9:30;12:16;17:9. Cap. 3:12.Luca 5:14. poruncit cu tărie să nu știe nimeni lucrul acesta și a zis să dea de mâncare fetiței.
