1 But the Spirit speaks expressly, that in latter times some shall apostatise from the faith, giving their mind to deceiving spirits and teachings of demons2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, cauterised as to their own conscience,3 forbidding to marry, {bidding} to abstain from meats, which God has created for receiving with thanksgiving for them who are faithful and know the truth.4 For every creature of God {is} good, and nothing {is} to be rejected, being received with thanksgiving;5 for it is sanctified by God's word and freely addressing {him}.6 Laying these things before the brethren, thou wilt be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished with the words of the faith and of the good teaching which thou hast fully followed up.7 But profane and old wives' fables avoid, but exercise thyself unto piety;8 for bodily exercise is profitable for a little, but piety is profitable for everything, having promise of life, of the present one, and of that to come.9 The word {is} faithful and worthy of all acceptation;10 for, for this we labour and suffer reproach, because we hope in a living God, who is preserver of all men, specially of those that believe.11 Enjoin and teach these things.12 Let no one despise thy youth, but be a model of the believers, in word, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.13 Till I come, give thyself to reading, to exhortation, to teaching.14 Be not negligent of the gift {that is} in thee, which has been given to thee through prophecy, with imposition of the hands of the elderhood.15 Occupy thyself with these things; be wholly in them, that thy progress may be manifest to all.16 Give heed to thyself and to the teaching; continue in them; for, doing this, thou shalt save both thyself and those that hear thee.

1 圣灵明明地说， 日后必有人离弃信仰， 跟从虚谎的邪灵和鬼魔的教训。 2 这教训是出于说谎的人的虚伪， 他们的良心好像被烧红的铁烙了一般。 3 他们禁止嫁娶， 禁戒食物。食物本是 神所造的， 是给信主和认识真理的人存感谢的心领受的。 4 因为凡 神所造的， 都是好的， 只要存感谢的心领受， 没有一样是可以弃绝的； 5 都因着 神的道和人的祈求成为圣洁了。 6 你若把这些事提醒弟兄们， 就是基督耶稣的好仆役， 常在信仰的话语上， 和你所遵从美善的教训上得着培养。 7 总要弃绝世俗以及老妇的无稽之谈； 要操练自己达到敬虔的地步。 8 因为操练身体， 益处还少； 唯独操练敬虔， 凡事有益， 享有今生和来世的应许。 9 这话是可信的， 是值得完全接纳的。 10 我们也是为这缘故劳苦努力， 因为我们的盼望在于永活的 神。他是万人的救主， 更是信徒的救主。 11 这些事你要嘱咐人， 教导人。 12 不要叫人小看你年轻， 总要在言语、行为、爱心、信心和纯洁上， 都作信徒的榜样。 13 在我来以前， 你要专心宣读圣经、劝勉和教导。 14 不要忽略你所得的恩赐， 就是众长老按手时借着预言赐给你的。 15 这些事你要认真实行， 专心去作， 使众人看出你的长进来。 16 你要谨慎自己， 留心自己的教训。在这些事上要有恒心， 因为你这样作， 不但能救自己， 也能救那些听你的人。
