And rising up thence he comes into the coasts of Judaea, and the other side of the Jordan. And again crowds come together to him, and, as he was accustomed, again he taught them. 
And Pharisees coming to {him} asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away {his} wife? (tempting him). 
But he answering said to them, What did Moses command you? 
And they said, Moses allowed to write a bill of divorce, and to put away. 
And Jesus answering said to them, In view of your hard-heartedness he wrote this commandment for you; 
but from {the} beginning of {the} creation God made them male and female. 
For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be united to his wife, 
and the two shall be one flesh: so that they are no longer two but one flesh. 
What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate. 
And again in the house the disciples asked him concerning this. 
And he says to them, Whosoever shall put away his wife and shall marry another, commits adultery against her. 
And if a woman put away her husband and shall marry another, she commits adultery. 
And they brought little children to him that he might touch them. But the disciples rebuked those that brought {them}. 
But Jesus seeing {it}, was indignant, and said to them, Suffer the little children to come to me; forbid them not; for of such is the kingdom of God. 
Verily I say to you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, shall in no wise enter into it. 
And having taken them in his arms, having laid his hands on them, he blessed them. 
And as he went forth into the way, a person ran up to {him}, and kneeling to him asked him, Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? 
But Jesus said to him, Why callest thou me good? no one is good but one, {that is} God. 
Thou knowest the commandments: Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honour thy father and mother. 
And he answering said to him, Teacher, all these things have I kept from my youth. 
And Jesus looking upon him loved him, and said to him, One thing lackest thou: go, sell whatever thou hast and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me, {taking up the cross}. 
But he, sad at the word, went away grieved, for he had large possessions. 
And Jesus looking around says to his disciples, How difficultly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! 
And the disciples were amazed at his words. And Jesus again answering says to them, Children, how difficult it is that those who trust in riches should enter into the kingdom of God! 
It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 
And they were exceedingly astonished, saying to one another, And who can be saved? 
But Jesus looking on them says, With men it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God. 
Peter began to say to him, Behold, *we* have left all things and have followed thee. 
Jesus answering said, Verily I say to you, There is no one who has left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, {or wife}, or children, or lands, for my sake and for the sake of the gospel, 
that shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time: houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions, and in the coming age life eternal. 
But many first shall be last, and the last first. 
And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was going on before them; and they were amazed, and were afraid as they followed. And taking the twelve again to {him}, he began to tell them what was going to happen to him: 
Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be delivered up to the chief priests and to the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him up to the nations: 
and they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him; and after three days he shall rise again. 
And there come to him James and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying {to him}, Teacher, we would that whatsoever we may ask thee, thou wouldst do it for us. 
And he said to them, What would ye that I should do for you? 
And they said to him, Give to us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and one on thy left hand, in thy glory. 
And Jesus said to them, Ye do not know what ye ask. Are ye able to drink the cup which *I* drink, or be baptised with the baptism that *I* am baptised with? 
And they said to him, We are able. And Jesus said to them, The cup that *I* drink ye will drink and with the baptism that *I* am baptised with ye will be baptised, 
but to sit on my right hand or on my left is not mine to give, but for those for whom it is prepared. 
And the ten having heard {of it}, began to be indignant about James and John. 
But Jesus having called them to {him}, says to them, Ye know that those who are esteemed to rule over the nations exercise lordship over them; and their great men exercise authority over them; 
but it is not thus among you; but whosoever would be great among you, shall be your minister; 
and whosoever would be first of you shall be bondman of all. 
For also the Son of man did not come to be ministered to, but to minister, and give his life a ransom for many. 
And they come to Jericho, and as he was going out from Jericho, and his disciples and a large crowd, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, the blind {man}, sat by the wayside begging. 
And having heard that it was Jesus the Nazaraean, he began to cry out and to say, O Son of David, Jesus, have mercy on me. 
And many rebuked him, that he might be silent; but he cried so much the more, Son of David, have mercy on me. 
And Jesus, standing still, desired him to be called. And they call the blind {man}, saying to him, Be of good courage, rise up, he calls thee. 
And, throwing away his garment, he started up and came to Jesus. 
And Jesus answering says to him, What wilt thou that I shall do to thee? And the blind {man} said to him, Rabboni, that I may see. 
And Jesus said to him, Go, thy faith has healed thee. And he saw immediately, and followed him in the way. 

Puis étant parti de là, il vint sur les confins de la Judée, au delà du Jourdain, et les troupes s'étant encore assemblées auprès de lui, il les enseignait comme il avait accoutumé. 
Alors des Pharisiens vinrent à lui, et pour l'éprouver ils lui demandèrent : est-il permis à un homme de répudier sa femme? 
Il répondit, et leur dit : qu'est-ce que Moïse vous a commandé? 
Ils dirent : Moïse a permis d'écrire la Lettre de divorce, et de répudier [ainsi sa femme]. 
Et Jésus répondant leur dit : il vous a donné ce commandement à cause de la dureté de votre cœur. 
Mais au commencement de la création, Dieu fit un homme et une femme. 
C'est pourquoi l'homme laissera son père et sa mère, et s'attachera à sa femme; 
Et les deux seront une seule chair : ainsi ils ne sont plus deux, mais une seule chair. 
Que l'homme donc ne sépare pas ce que Dieu a joint. 
Puis ses Disciples l'interrogèrent encore sur cela même dans la maison. 
Et il leur dit : quiconque laissera sa femme, et se mariera à une autre, il commet un adultère contre elle. 
Pareillement si la femme laisse son mari, et se marie à un autre, elle commet un adultère. 
Et on lui présenta de petits enfants, afin qu'il les touchât; mais les Disciples reprenaient ceux qui les présentaient; 
Et Jésus voyant cela, en fut indigné, et il leur dit : laissez venir à moi les petits enfants, et ne les en empêchez point; car le Royaume de Dieu appartient à ceux qui leur ressemblent. 
En vérité, je vous dis, que quiconque ne recevra pas comme un petit enfant le Royaume de Dieu, il n'y entrera point. 
Après les avoir donc pris entre ses bras, il les bénit, en posant les mains sur eux. 
Et comme il sortait pour se mettre en chemin, un homme accourut, et se mit à genoux devant lui, et lui fit cette demande : Maître qui es bon, que ferai-je pour hériter la vie éternelle? 
Et Jésus lui répondit : pourquoi m'appelles-tu bon? il n'y a nul être qui soit bon que Dieu. 
Tu sais les Commandements : Ne commets point adultère. Ne tue point. Ne dérobe point. Ne dis point de faux témoignage. Ne fais aucun tort à personne. Honore ton père et ta mère. 
Il répondit, et lui dit : Maître, j'ai gardé toutes ces choses dès ma jeunesse. 
Et Jésus ayant jeté l'œil sur lui, l'aima, et lui dit : il te manque une chose; va, et vends tout ce que tu as, et le donne aux pauvres, et tu auras un trésor au ciel; puis viens, et me suis, ayant chargé la croix. 
Mais il fut fâché de ce mot, et s'en alla tout triste, parce qu'il avait de grands biens. 
Alors Jésus ayant regardé alentour, dit à ses Disciples : combien difficilement ceux qui ont des richesses entreront-ils dans le Royaume de Dieu. 
Et ses Disciples s'étonnèrent de ces paroles; mais Jésus prenant encore la parole, leur dit : mes enfants, qu'il est difficile à ceux qui se confient aux richesses d'entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu! 
Il est plus aisé qu'un chameau passe par le trou d'une aiguille, qu'il ne l'est qu'un riche entre dans le Royaume de Dieu. 
Et ils s'en étonnèrent encore davantage, disant entre eux : et qui peut être sauvé? 
Mais Jésus les ayant regardés, leur dit : cela est impossible quant aux hommes, mais non pas quant à Dieu; car toutes choses sont possibles à Dieu. 
Alors Pierre se mit à lui dire : voici, nous avons tout quitté, et t'avons suivi. 
Et Jésus répondant, dit : en vérité je vous dis, qu’il n'y a personne qui ait laissé ou maison, ou frères, ou sœurs, ou père, ou mère, ou femme, ou enfants, ou champs, pour l'amour de moi, et de l’Evangile, 
Qui n'en reçoive maintenant en ce temps-ci cent fois autant, maisons, et frères, et sœurs, et mère, et enfants, et champs, avec des persécutions; et dans le siècle à venir, la vie éternelle. 
Mais plusieurs qui sont les premiers, seront les derniers; et les derniers seront les premiers. 
Or ils étaient en chemin, montant à Jérusalem, et Jésus allait devant eux; et ils étaient épouvantés, et craignaient en le suivant, parce que Jésus ayant encore pris à l'écart les douze, s'était mis à leur déclarer les choses qui lui devaient arriver; 
[Disant] : voici, nous montons à Jérusalem; et le Fils de l'homme sera livré aux principaux Sacrificateurs, et aux Scribes; et ils le condamneront à mort, et le livreront aux Gentils; 
Qui se moqueront de lui, et le fouetteront, et cracheront contre lui, puis ils le feront mourir; mais il ressuscitera le troisième jour. 
Alors Jacques et Jean , fils de Zébédée, vinrent à lui, en lui disant : Maître, nous voudrions que tu fisses pour nous ce que nous te demanderons. 
Et il leur dit : que voulez-vous que je fasse pour vous? 
Et ils lui dirent : accorde-nous que dans ta gloire nous soyons assis l'un à ta droite, et l'autre à ta gauche. 
Et Jésus leur dit : vous ne savez ce que vous demandez; pouvez-vous boire la coupe que je dois boire; et être baptisés du Baptême dont je dois être baptisé ? 
Ils lui répondirent : nous le pouvons. Et Jésus leur dit : il est vrai que vous boirez la coupe que je dois boire, et que vous serez baptisés du Baptême dont je dois être baptisé; 
Mais d'être assis à ma droite et à ma gauche, ce n'est pas à moi de le donner; mais [il sera donné] à ceux à qui il est préparé. 
Ce que les dix [autres] ayant ouï, ils conçurent de l'indignation contre Jacques et Jean. 
Et Jésus les ayant appelés, leur dit : vous savez que ceux qui dominent sur les nations les maîtrisent, et que les Grands d'entre eux usent d'autorité sur elles. 
Mais il n'en sera pas ainsi entre vous; mais quiconque voudra être le plus grand entre vous, sera votre serviteur. 
Et quiconque d'entre vous voudra être le premier, sera le serviteur de tous. 
Car aussi le Fils de l'homme n'est pas venu pour être servi, mais pour servir, et pour donner sa vie en rançon pour plusieurs. 
Puis ils arrivèrent à Jéricho; et comme il partait de Jéricho avec ses Disciples et une grande troupe, un aveugle, [appelé] Bartimée, [c'est-à-dire], fils de Timée, était assis sur le chemin, et mendiait. 
Et ayant entendu que c'était Jésus le Nazarien, il se mit à crier, et à dire : Jésus, Fils de David, aie pitié de moi. 
Et plusieurs le censuraient fortement, afin qu'il se tût; mais il criait encore plus fort : Fils de David, aie pitié de moi! 
Et Jésus s'étant arrêté, dit qu'on l'appelât. On l'appela donc, en lui disant : prends courage, lève-toi, il t'appelle. 
Et jetant bas son manteau, il se leva, et s'en vint à Jésus. 
Et Jésus prenant la parole, lui dit : que veux-tu que je te fasse? Et l'aveugle lui dit : Maître, que je recouvre la vue. 
Et Jésus lui dit : Va, ta foi t'a sauvé. 
Et sur-le-champ il recouvra la vue, et il suivit Jésus par le chemin.
