1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, and depend on horses, and confide in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong; and who look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek Jehovah! 2 But he also is wise, and he bringeth evil, and recalleth not his words; and he will arise against the house of evildoers, and against the help of workers of iniquity. 3 And the Egyptians are men, and not ·GodGodHebrew: El and their horses flesh, and not spirit; and Jehovah shall stretch forth his hand, and he that helpeth shall stumble, and he that is helped shall fall, and they all shall perish together. 4 For thus hath Jehovah said unto me: Like as the lion and the young lion growling over his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, is not afraid of their voice, nor giveth way before the multitude of them; so will Jehovah of hosts come down to war upon mount Zion, and on the hill thereof. 5 As birds with outstretched wings, so will Jehovah of hosts cover Jerusalem; covering, he will also deliver, passing over, he will rescue it.
6 Turn unto him from whom ye have deeply revolted, ye children of Israel; 7 for in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold, which your sinful hands have made unto you. 8 And Asshur shall fall by the sword, not of a great man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: and he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall become tributary; 9 and for fear, he shall pass over to his rock, and his princes shall be afraid of the banner, saith Jehovah, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.
1 ¡AY de los que 31.1 cp. 30.2.descienden á Egipto por ayuda, y 31.1 Sal. 20.7 y 33.7. cp. 30.16 y 36.9confían en caballos; y su esperanza ponen en carros, porque son muchos, y en caballeros, porque son valientes; y no miraron al Santo de Israel, ni buscaron á Jehová!
2 Mas él también es sabio, y traerá el mal, y 31.2 Nm. 23.19.no retirará sus palabras. Levantaráse pues contra la casa de los malignos, y contra el auxilio de los obradores de iniquidad.
3 Y los Egipcios hombres son, y no Dios; y sus caballos carne, y no espíritu: de manera que en extendiendo Jehová su mano, caerá el ayudador, y caerá el ayudado, y todos ellos desfallecerán á una.
4 Porque Jehová me dijo á mí de esta manera: 31.4 Os. 11.10. Am. 1.2.Como el león y el cachorro del león brama sobre su presa, y si se llega contra él cuadrilla de pastores, no temerá por sus voces, ni se acobardará por el tropel de ellos: 31.4 cp. 42.13.así Jehová de los ejércitos descenderá á pelear por el monte de Sión, y por su collado.
5 Como las aves que vuelan, 31.5 Dt. 32.11. Sal. 91.4.así amparará Jehová de los ejércitos á Jerusalem, 31.5 Sal. 37.40.amparando, librando, pasando, y salvando.
6 Convertíos á aquel contra quien los hijos de Israel 31.6 Os. 9.9.profundamente se rebelaron.
1 El reinado del Mesías.
2 Justicia, reposo y seguridad.
7 Porque en aquel día 31.7 cp. 2.20 y 30.22.arrojará el hombre sus ídolos de plata, y sus ídolos de oro, que para vosotros han hecho vuestras manos pecadoras.
8 Entonces caerá el Assur 31.8 cp. 37.36.por cuhillo, no de varón; y consumirálo espada, no de hombre; y huirá de la presencia de la espada, y sus mancebos serán tributarios.
9 Y de miedo pasará su fortaleza, y sus príncipes tendrán pavor 31.9 cp. 11.10.de la bandera, dice Jehová, cuyo fuego está en Sión, y su horno en Jerusalem.
