1 And now hear, Jacob, my servant, and Israel, whom I have chosen: 2 thus saith Jehovah, that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, who helpeth thee, Fear not, Jacob, my servant, and thou, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen. 3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring. 4 And they shall spring up among the grass, as willows by the water-courses. 5 One shall say, I am Jehovah’s; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall write with his hand: I am Jehovah’s, and surname himself by the name of Israel. 6 Thus saith Jehovah, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, Jehovah of hosts: I am the first, and I am the last, and beside me there is no GodGodHebrew: Elohim7 And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? And the coming things, and those that shall happen, let them declare unto them. 8 Fear not, neither be afraid. Have I not caused thee to hear from that time, and have declared it? and ye are my witnesses. Is there a +GodGodHebrew: Eloah beside me? yea, there is no Rock: I know not any.
9 They that form a graven image are all of them vanity, and their delectable things are of no profit; and they are their own witnesses: they see not, nor know; — that they may be ashamed. 10 Who hath formed a godgodHebrew: el or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing? 11 Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed; and the workmen are but men. Let them all be gathered together, let them stand up: they shall fear, they shall be ashamed together. 12 The iron-smith hath a chisel, and he worketh in the coals, and he fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with his strong arm; — but he is hungry, and his strength faileth; he hath not drunk water, and he is faint. 13 The worker in wood stretcheth out a line; he marketh it out with red chalk; he formeth it with sharp tools, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of man: that it may remain in the house. 14 When he heweth him down cedars, he taketh also a holm-oak and a terebinth — he chooseth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth a pine, and the rain maketh it grow. 15 And it shall be for a man to burn, and he taketh thereof, and warmeth himself; he kindleth it also, and baketh bread; he maketh also a godgodHebrew: el and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto. 16 He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh, he roasteth roast, and is satisfied; yea, he is warm, and saith, Aha, I am become warm, I have seen the fire. 17 And with the remainder thereof he maketh a godgodHebrew: el his graven image; he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me, for thou art my godgodHebrew: el18 They have no knowledge, and understand not; for he hath plastered their eyes, that they may not see; and their hearts, that they may not understand. 19 And none taketh it to heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire, and have also baked bread upon the coals thereof, I have roasted flesh, and eaten it, and with the rest thereof shall I make an abomination? shall I bow down to a block of wood? 20 He feedeth on ashes; a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?
21 Remember these things, O Jacob, and Israel, for thou art my servant; I have formed thee: thou art my servant, Israel; thou shalt not be forgotten of me. 22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee. 23 Sing, ye heavens; for Jehovah hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth; break forth into singing, ye mountains, the forest, and every tree therein! For Jehovah hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel. 24 Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb: I am Jehovah, the maker of all things; who alone stretched out the heavens, who did spread forth the earth by myself; 25 — he that frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish; 26 that confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built up, and I will raise up their ruins; 27 that saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers; 28 that saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and he shall perform all my pleasure; even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.

2 Así dice Jehová, Hacedor tuyo, y el que 44.2 cp. 43.1,7.te formó desde el vientre, el cual te ayudará: 44.2 cp. 43.5.No temas, siervo mío Jacob, y tú, 44.2 Dt. 32.15.Jeshurun, á quien yo escogí.
3 Porque 44.3 cp. 32.15. Jl. 2.28. Jn. 4.10 y 7.38. Hch. 2.18.yo derramaré aguas sobre el secadal, y ríos sobre la tierra árida: mi espíritu derramaré sobre tu generación, y mi bendición sobre tus renuevos:
4 Y brotarán entre hierba, como sauces junto á las riberas de las aguas.
5 Este dirá: Yo soy de Jehová; el otro se llamará del nombre de Jacob; y otro escribirá con su mano, A Jehová, y se apellidará 44.5 cp. 45.4.con el nombre de Israel.
6 Así dice Jehová, Rey de Israel, y su Redentor, Jehová de los ejércitos: 44.6 cp. 41.4.Yo el primero, y yo el postrero, y 44.6 ver. 8. Sal. 86.10.fuera de mí no hay Dios.
7 ¿Y quién llamará como yo, y 44.7 cp. 41.23.denunciará esto, y lo ordenará por mí, desde que hice el pueblo antiguo? Anúncienles lo que viene, y lo que está por venir.
8 No temáis, ni os amedrentéis: 44.8 cp. 41.22.¿no te lo hice oir desde antiguo, y te lo dije? Luego 44.8 cp. 43.10,12.vosotros sois mis testigos. No hay Dios sino yo. No hay Fuerte: no conozco ninguno.
9 44.9 cp. 41.24,29. Los formadores de imágenes de talla, todos ellos son vanidad, y lo más precioso de ellos para nada es útil; y ellos mismos para su confusión son testigos, que ellos 44.9 Sal. 115.5.ni ven ni entienden.
10 ¿Quién formó un dios, ó quién fundó una estatua 44.10 Hab. 2.18.que para nada es de provecho?
11 He aquí que todos sus compañeros serán avergonzados, porque los mismos artífices son de los hombres. Todos ellos se juntarán, estarán, se asombrarán, y serán avergonzados á una.
12 El herrero tomará la tenaza, 44.12 cp. 40.19. Jer. 10.3-5.obrará en las ascuas, darále forma con los martillos, y trabajará en ella con la fuerza de su brazo: tiene luego hambre, y le faltan las fuerzas; no beberá agua, y se desmaya.
13 El carpintero tiende la regla, señala aquélla con almagre, lábrala con los cepillos, dale figura con el compás, hácela en forma de varón, á semejanza de hombre hermoso, para estar en casa.
14 Cortaráse cedros, y tomará encina y alcornoque, y entre los árboles del bosque se esforzará; plantará pino, que se críe con la lluvia.
15 De él se servirá luego el hombre para quemar, y tomará de ellos para calentarse; encenderá también el horno, y cocerá panes: hará además un dios, y lo adorará; fabricará un ídolo, y 44.15 vers. 17,19. cp. 46.6.arrodillaráse delante de él.
16 Parte del leño quemará en el fuego; con parte de él comerá carne, aderezará asado, y se saciará; después se calentará, y dirá: ¡Oh! heme calentado, he visto el fuego;
17 Y torna su sobrante en un dios, en su escultura; humíllase delante de ella, adórala, y ruégale diciendo: Líbrame, que mi dios eres tú.
18 44.18 cp. 45.20. No supieron ni entendieron: porque encostrados están sus ojos para no ver, y su corazón para no entender.
19 No discurre para consigo, no tiene sentido ni entendimiento para decir: Parte de esto quemé en el fuego, y sobre sus brasas cocí pan, asé carne, y comíla; ¿he de tornar en una abominación lo restante de ello? ¿delante de un tronco de árbol tengo de humillarme?

20 De ceniza se apacienta; 44.20 Os. 4.12. Ro. 1.21.su corazón engañado le desvía, para que no libre su alma, ni diga: ¿No hay 44.20 Sal. 144.8. Ro. 1.25.una mentira á mi mano derecha?
21 Acuérdate de estas cosas, oh Jacob, é Israel, pues que 44.21 vers. 1,2tú mi siervo eres: Yo te formé; siervo mío eres tú: Israel, no me olvides.
22 Yo deshice 44.22 cp. 43.25.como á nube tus rebeliones, y como á niebla tus pecados: tórnate á mí, porque 44.22 cp. 43.1 y 48.20.yo te redimí.
23 Cantad loores, 44.23 cp. 49.13.oh cielos, porque Jehová lo hizo; gritad con júbilo, 44.23 Sal. 63.9.lugares bajos de la tierra; prorrumpid, montes, en alabanza; bosque, y todo árbol que en él está: porque Jehová redimió á Jacob, y en Israel será glorificado.
24 Así dice Jehová, 44.24 ver. 6tu Redentor, y 44.24 ver. 2. cp. 29.5.formador tuyo desde el vientre: Yo Jehová, que lo hago todo, que extiendo solo los cielos, que extiendo la tierra por mí mismo;
25 Que deshago las señales de los adivinos, y 44.25 Dt. 18.14.enloquezco á los agoreros; que hago tornar atrás los sabios, y 44.25 1 Co. 1.20.desvanezco su sabiduría;
26 Que despierta la palabra de 44.26 cp. 20.3.su siervo, y cumple el consejo de sus mensajeros; que dice á Jerusalem: Serás habitada; y á las ciudades de Judá: Reedificadas serán, y sus ruinas levantaré;
27 Que dice al profundo: 44.27 Jer. 50.38 y 51.32,36.Sécate, y tus ríos haré secar;
28 Que dice de 44.28 cp. 45.1.Ciro: Es mi pastor, y cumplirá todo lo que yo quiero, en diciendo á Jerusalem, 44.28 2 Cr. 36.22,23. Esd. 1.1-3. cp. 45.13.Serás edificada; y al templo: Serás fundado.
