1 Take heede that ye giue not your almes before men, to be seene of them, or els ye shall haue no reward of your Father which is in heaue. 2 Therefore when thou giuest thine almes, thou shalt not make a trumpet to be blowen before thee, as the hypocrites doe in the Synagogues and in the streetes, to be praysed of men. Verely I say vnto you, they haue their rewarde. 3 But when thou doest thine almes, let not thy left hand knowe what thy right hand doeth, 4 That thine almes may be in secret, and thy Father that seeth in secret, hee will rewarde thee openly. 5 And when thou prayest, be not as the hypocrites: for they loue to stand, and pray in the Synagogues, and in the corners of the streetes, because they would be seene of men. Verely I say vnto you, they haue their rewarde. 6 But when thou prayest, enter into thy chamber and when thou hast shut thy doore, pray vnto thy Father which is in secret, and thy Father which seeth in secret, shall rewarde thee openly. 7 Also when ye pray, vse no vaine repetitions as the Heathen: for they thinke to be heard for their much babbling. 8 Be ye not like them therefore: for your Father knoweth whereof ye haue neede, before ye aske of him. 9 After this maner therefore pray ye, Our father which art in heauen, halowed be thy name. 10 Thy Kingdome come. Thy will be done euen in earth, as it is in heauen. 11 Giue vs this day our dayly bread. 12 And forgiue vs our dettes, as we also forgiue our detters. 13 And leade vs not into tentation, but deliuer vs from euill: for thine is the kingdome, and the power, and the glorie for euer. Amen. 14 For if ye doe forgiue men their trespasses, your heauenly Father will also forgiue you. 15 But if ye do not forgiue men their trespasses,, no more will your father forgiue you your trespaces. 16 Moreouer, when ye fast, looke not sowre as the hypocrites: for they disfigure their faces, that they might seeme vnto men to fast. Verely I say vnto you, that they haue their rewarde. 17 But when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face, 18 That thou seeme not vnto men to fast, but vnto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret, will rewarde thee openly. 19 Lay not vp treasures for your selues vpon the earth, where the mothe and canker corrupt, and where theeues digge through and steale. 20 But lay vp treasures for your selues in heauen, where neither the mothe nor canker corrupteth, and where theeues neither digge through, nor steale. 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22 The light of the body is the eye: if then thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be light. 23 But if thine eye be wicked, then all thy body shalbe darke. Wherefore if the light that is in thee, be darkenes, howe great is that darkenesse? 24 No man can serue two masters: for eyther he shall hate the one, and loue the other, or els he shall leane to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serue God and riches. 25 Therefore I say vnto you, be not carefull for your life, what ye shall eate, or what ye shall drinke: nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more worth then meate? and the bodie then raiment? 26 Behold the foules of the heauen: for they sowe not, neither reape, nor carie into the barnes: yet your heauenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better then they? 27 Which of you by taking care is able to adde one cubite vnto his stature? 28 And why care ye for raiment? Learne howe the lilies of the fielde doe growe: they are not wearied, neither spinne: 29 Yet I say vnto you, that euen Salomon in all his glorie was not arayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore if God so clothe the grasse of the fielde which is to day, and to morowe is cast into the ouen, shall he not doe much more vnto you, O ye of litle faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eate? or what shall we drinke? or where with shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things seeke the Gentiles) for your heauenly Father knoweth, that ye haue neede of all these things. 33 But seeke ye first the kingdome of God, and his righteousnesse, and all these things shall be ministred vnto you. 34 Care not then for the morowe: for the morowe shall care for it selfe: the day hath ynough with his owne griefe.

1 MIRAD que no hagáis vuestra justicia delante de los hombres, para ser vistos de ellos: de otra manera no tendréis merced de vuestro Padre que está en los cielos.2 Cuando pues haces limosna, no hagas tocar trompeta delante de ti, como hacen los hipócritas en las sinagogas y en las plazas, para ser estimados de los hombres: de cierto os digo, que ya tienen su recompensa.3 Mas cuando tú haces limosna, no sepa tu izquierda lo que hace tu derecha;4 Para que sea tu limosna en secreto: y tu Padre que ve en secreto, él te recompensará en público.5 Y cuando oras, no seas como los hipócritas; porque ellos aman el orar en las sinagogas, y en los cantones de las calles en pie, para ser vistos de los hombres: de cierto os digo, que ya tienen su pago.6 Mas tú, cuando oras, éntrate en tu cámara, y cerrada tu puerta, ora á tu Padre que está en secreto; y tu Padre que ve en secreto, te recompensará en público.7 Y orando, no seáis prolijos, como los Gentiles; que piensan que por su parlería serán oídos.8 No os hagáis, pues, semejantes á ellos; porque vuestro Padre sabe de qué cosas tenéis necesidad, antes que vosotros le pidáis.9 Vosotros pues, oraréis así: Padre nuestro que estás en los cielos, santificado sea tu nombre.10 Venga tu reino. Sea hecha tu voluntad, como en el cielo, así también en la tierra.11 Danos hoy nuestro pan cotidiano.12 Y perdónanos nuestras deudas, como también nosotros perdonamos á nuestros deudores.13 Y no nos metas en tentación, mas líbranos del mal: porque tuyo es el reino, y el poder, y la gloria, por todos los siglos. Amén.14 Porque si perdonareis á los hombres sus ofensas, os perdonará también á vosotros vuestro Padre celestial.15 Mas si no perdonareis á los hombres sus ofensas, tampoco vuestro Padre os perdonará vuestras ofensas.16 Y cuando ayunáis, no seáis como los hipócritas, austeros; porque ellos demudan sus rostros para parecer á los hombres que ayunan: de cierto os digo, que ya tienen su pago.17 Mas tú, cuando ayunas, unge tu cabeza y lava tu rostro;18 Para no parecer á los hombres que ayunas, sino á tu Padre que está en secreto: y tu Padre que ve en secreto, te recompensará en público.19 No os hagáis tesoros en la tierra, donde la polilla y el orín corrompe, y donde ladronas minan y hurtan;20 Mas haceos tesoros en el cielo, donde ni polilla ni orín corrompe, y donde ladrones no minan ni hurtan:21 Porque donde estuviere vuestro tesoro, allí estará vuestro corazón.22 La lámpara del cuerpo es el ojo: así que, si tu ojo fuere sincero, todo tu cuerpo será luminoso:23 Mas si tu ojo fuere malo, todo tu cuerpo será tenebroso. Así que, si la lumbre que en ti hay son tinieblas, ¿cuántas serán las mismas tinieblas?24 Ninguno puede servir á dos señores; porque ó aborrecerá al uno y amará al otro, ó se llegará al uno y menospreciará al otro: no podéis servir á Dios y á Mammón.25 Por tanto os digo: No os congojéis por vuestra vida, qué habéis de comer, ó que habéis de beber; ni por vuestro cuerpo, qué habéis de vestir: ¿no es la vida más que el alimento, y el cuerpo que el vestido?26 Mirad las aves del cielo, que no siembran, ni siegan, ni allegan en alfolíes; y vuestro Padre celestial las alimenta. ¿No sois vosotros mucho mejores que ellas?.27 Mas ¿quién de vosotros podrá, congojándose, añadir á su estatura un codo?28 Y por el vestido ¿por qué os congojáis? Reparad los lirios del campo, cómo crecen; no trabajan ni hilan;29 Mas os digo, que ni aun Salomón con toda su gloria fué vestido así como uno de ellos.30 Y si la hierba del campo que hoy es, y mañana es echada en el horno, Dios la viste así, ¿no hará mucho más á vosotros, hombres de poca fe?31 No os congojéis pues, diciendo: ¿Qué comeremos, ó qué beberemos, ó con qué nos cubriremos?32 Porque los Gentiles buscan todas estas cosas: que vuestro Padre celestial sabe que de todas estas cosas habéis menester.33 Mas buscad primeramente el reino de Dios y su justicia, y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas.34 Así que, no os congojéis por el día de mañana; que el día de mañana traerá su fatiga: basta al día su afán.
