1 Or la reine de Séba ayant ouï parler de la renommée de Salomon, vint à Jérusalem, pour éprouver Salomon par des questions obscures, ayant un fort grand train, et des chameaux qui portaient des choses aromatiques, et une grande quantité d'or, et de pierres précieuses; et étant venue auprès de Salomon, elle lui parla de tout ce qu'elle avait en son cœur.
2 Et Salomon lui expliqua tout ce qu'elle avait proposé, en sorte qu'il n'y eut rien que Salomon n'entendît, et qu'il ne lui expliquât.
3 Et la reine de Séba voyant la sagesse de Salomon, et la maison qu'il avait bâtie,
4 Et les mets de sa table, les logements de ses serviteurs, l'ordre du service de ses officiers, leurs vêtements, ses échansons, et leurs vêtements, et la montée par laquelle il montait dans la maison de l'Eternel, fut toute ravie hors d'elle-même.
5 Et elle dit au Roi : Ce que j'ai ouï dire dans mon pays de ton état et de ta sagesse, est véritable.
6 Et je n'ai point cru ce qu'on en disait, jusqu'à ce que je suis venue, et que mes yeux l'ont vu, et voici, on ne m'avait pas rapporté la moitié de la grandeur de ta sagesse; tu surpasses le bruit que j'en avais ouï.
7 Ô que bienheureux sont tes gens! ô que bienheureux sont tes serviteurs qui se tiennent continuellement devant toi, et qui entendent les paroles de ta sagesse!
8 Béni soit l'Eternel ton Dieu, qui t'a eu pour agréable, en te mettant sur son trône, afin que tu sois Roi pour l'Eternel ton Dieu! Parce que ton Dieu aime Israël, pour le faire subsister à toujours, il t'a établi Roi sur eux, afin que tu exerces le jugement et la justice.
9 Puis elle donna au Roi six vingts talents d'or, et des choses aromatiques en abondance, et des pierres précieuses; et jamais il n'y eut depuis cela de telles choses aromatiques, que celles que la reine de Séba donna au Roi Salomon.
10 Et les serviteurs de Hiram, et les serviteurs de Salomon, qui avaient apporté de l'or d'Ophir, apportèrent du bois d'Algummim, et des pierres précieuses.
11 Et le Roi fit de ce bois d'Algummim les chemins qui allaient à la maison de l'Eternel, et à la maison Royale, et des violons et des musettes pour les chantres. On n'avait point vu de ce bois auparavant dans le pays de Juda.
12 Et le Roi Salomon donna à la reine de Séba tout ce qu'elle souhaita, et tout ce qu'elle lui demanda, excepté de ce qu'elle avait apporté au Roi. Puis elle s'en retourna, et revint en son pays, elle et ses serviteurs.
13 Le poids de l'or qui revenait chaque année à Salomon, était de six cent soixante et six talents d'or;
14 Sans [ce qui lui revenait] des facteurs des marchands en gros, et [sans ce que lui] apportaient les marchands qui vendaient en détail, et tous les Rois d'Arabie, et les Gouverneurs de ces pays-là, qui apportaient de l'or et de l'argent à Salomon.
15 Le Roi Salomon fit aussi deux cents grands boucliers d'or étendu au marteau, employant pour chaque bouclier six cents [pièces] d'or étendu au marteau;
16 Et trois cents [autres] boucliers d'or étendu au marteau, employant trois cents pièces d'or pour chaque bouclier; et le Roi les mit dans la maison du parc du Liban.
17 Le Roi fit aussi un grand trône d'ivoire, qu'il couvrit de pur or.
18 Et ce trône avait six degrés, et un marche-pied d'or, fait en pente, et le tout tenait au trône, et des accoudoirs de côté et d'autre à l'endroit du siège; et deux lions étaient près des accoudoirs.
19 Il y avait aussi douze lions sur les six degrés du trône de côté et d'autre; il ne s'en était point fait de tel dans aucun Royaume.
20 Et toute la vaisselle du buffet du Roi Salomon était d'or, et tous les vaisseaux de la maison du parc du Liban étaient de fin or. Il n'y en avait point d'argent; l'argent n'était rien estimé aux jours de Salomon.
21 Car les navires du Roi allaient en Tarsis avec les serviteurs de Hiram; et les navires de Tarsis revenaient en trois ans une fois, apportant de l'or, de l'argent, de l'ivoire, des singes, et des paons.
22 Ainsi le Roi Salomon fut plus grand que tous les Rois de la terre, tant en richesses qu'en sagesse.
23 Et tous les Rois de la terre cherchaient de voir la face de Salomon, pour entendre la sagesse que Dieu avait mise dans son cœur.
24 Et chacun d'eux lui apportait son présent, [savoir] des vaisseaux d'argent, des vaisseaux d'or, des vêtements, des armes et des choses aromatiques, [et lui amenait] des chevaux, et des mulets chaque année.
25 Salomon avait quatre mille écuries pour des chevaux, et des chariots; et douze mille hommes de cheval, qu'il mit dans les villes où il tenait ses chariots, et auprès du Roi à Jérusalem.
26 Et il dominait sur tous les Rois, depuis le fleuve jusqu'au pays des Philistins, et jusqu'à la frontière d'Egypte.
27 Et le Roi fit que l'argent n'était pas plus prisé à Jérusalem que les pierres; et les cèdres, que les figuiers sauvages qui sont dans les plaines, tant il y en avait.
28 Car on tirait d'Egypte des chevaux pour Salomon, et [d'autres choses] de tous les pays.
29 Le reste des faits de Salomon, tant les premiers que les derniers, n'est-il pas écrit au Livre de Nathan le Prophète, et dans la prophétie d'Ahija Silonite, et dans la Vision de Jeddo le Voyant, touchant Jéroboam fils de Nébat?
30 Et Salomon régna quarante ans à Jérusalem sur tout Israël.
31 Puis il s'endormit avec ses pères, et on l'ensevelit en la Cité de David son père, et Roboam son fils régna en sa place.
1 And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to test Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that bore spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she had come to Solomon, she spoke with him of all that was in her heart.
2 And Solomon answered her all her questions: and there was nothing hid from Solomon which he answered her not.
3 And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,
4 And the food of his table, and the seating of his officials, and the attendance of his servants, and their apparel; his cupbearers also, and their apparel; and his entryway by which he went up into the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her.
5 And she said to the king, It was a true report which I heard in my own land of your acts, and of your wisdom:
6 However I believed not their words, until I came, and my eyes had seen it: and, behold, the one half of the greatness of your wisdom was not told me: for you exceed the fame that I heard.
7 Happy are your men, and happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you, and hear your wisdom.
8 Blessed be the LORD your God, who delighted in you to set you on his throne, to be king for the LORD your God: because your God loved Israel, to establish them forever, therefore he made you king over them, to do justice and righteousness.
9 And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spices in great abundance, and precious stones: neither were there any such spices as the queen of Sheba gave king Solomon.
10 And the servants also of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, who brought gold from Ophir, brought algum wood and precious stones.
11 And the king made of the algum wood steps to the house of the LORD, and to the king’s palace, and harps and lyres for the singers: and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah.
12 And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, more than that which she had brought unto the king. So she turned, and went away to her own land, she and her servants.
13 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescore and six talents of gold;
14 Besides that which traders and merchants brought. And all the kings of Arabia and governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.
15 And king Solomon made two hundred large shields of hammered gold: six hundred shekels of hammered gold went to each large shield.
16 And three hundred shields made he of hammered gold: three hundred shekels of gold went to one shield. And the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.
17 Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold.
18 And there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and arm rests on each side of the seat, and two lions standing by the arm rests:
19 And twelve lions stood there, one on each side upon the six steps. There was not the like of which made in any kingdom.
20 And all the drinking vessels of king Solomon were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: none were of silver; for it was not counted as anything in the days of Solomon.
21 For the king’s ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram: once every three years came the ships of Tarshish bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.
22 And king Solomon passed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.
23 And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, that God had put in his heart.
24 And they brought every man his present, articles of silver, and articles of gold, and raiment, armor, and spices, horses, and mules, a set rate year by year.
25 And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen; whom he stationed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
26 And he reigned over all the kings from the river even unto the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt.
27 And the king made silver in Jerusalem as common as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycamore trees that are in the low plains in abundance.
28 And they brought unto Solomon horses out of Egypt, and out of all lands.
29 Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nebat?
30 And Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.
31 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
