Cânticos 8

ASV

1 Auē me i rite koe ki tōku tungāne

i ngote nei i ngā ū o tōku whaea!

Ka kite ahau i a koe i waho, ka kihia koe e ahau,

āe, e kore tētahi e whakahāwea ki ahau.

2 Ka aratakina koe e ahau,

ka kawea ki te whare o tōku whaea,

ko ia anō hei whakaako i ahau.

Ka whakainumia koe e ahau ki te wāina whakaranu,

ki te wai o tāku pamekaranete.

3 Ko tōna mauī ki raro i tōku mātenga,

ko tōna matau ki te awhi i ahau!

4 He atu tēnei nāku ki a koutou, e ngā tamāhine o Hiruhārama,

Nāku koe i whakaara ake i raro i te āporo;

ko te wāhi tēnā i puta mai ai koe i roto i tōu whaea;

i puta mai anō koe i reira i roto i te wahine i whānau ai koe.

6 Waiho ahau hei hīri ki tōu ngākau,

hei hīri ki tōu ringa;

rite tahi hoki ki te mate te kaha o te aroha;

nanakia tonu te hae, ānō ko te urupā,

ko ōna hiko, he hiko ahi,

he mura Ihowā.

7 Nui te wai, e kore te aroha e taea te tinei,

e kore anō e ngaro i ngā awa.

Ahakoa i hoatu e te tangata

ngā rawa katoa o tōna whare te aroha,

ka whakahāweatia rawatia.

Ngā Hoa

8 He teina nohinohi mātou,

kāhore hoki ōna ū.

Me pēhea mātou ki mātou teina

i te e kōrerotia ai ia?

9 Ki te mea he taiepa ia,

ka hangā e tātou he pourewa ki runga ki a ia, he mea hiriwa.

Ki te mea he tatau ia,

ka whakakōpakina ia e tātou ki ngā papa hīta.

Te Wahine

10 He taiepa ahau,

ko ōku ū, ānō ko ōna pourewa;

reira, ki tāna titiro mai,

i rite ahau ki tētahi kua kite i te āta noho.

Te Tāne

11 He māra wāina Horomona i Paara-Hamono,

tukua atu ana e ia te māra ki ngā kaitiaki;

kotahi mano ngā hiriwa hei kawenga mai tēnei,

tēnei hei utu ōna hua.

12 Ko tāku māra, ko tāku ake, kei tōku aroaro;

māu, e Horomona, te kotahi mano,

ā, ngā kaitiaki o ōna hua e rua rau.

13 E koe e noho nei i ngā kāri,

e whakarongo ana ngā hoa ki tōu reo;

meinga kia rongo ahau.

Te Wahine

14 Kia hohoro, e tāku e aroha nei,

kia rite koe ki te anaterope,

ki te kūao hāta rānei

i runga i ngā maunga kīnaki kakara!

1 Oh that thou wert as my brother,

That sucked the breasts of my mother!

When I should find thee without, I would kiss thee;

Yea, and none would despise me.

2 I would lead thee, and bring thee into my mother’s house,

Who would instruct me;

I would cause thee to drink of spiced wine,

Of the juice of my pomegranate.

3 His left hand should be under my head,

And his right hand should embrace me.

4 I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem,

That ye stir not up, nor awake my love,

Until he please.

5 Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness,

Leaning upon her beloved?

Under the apple-tree I awakened thee:

There thy mother was in travail with thee,

There was she in travail that brought thee forth.

6 Set me as a seal upon thy heart,

As a seal upon thine arm:

For love is strong as death;

Jealousy is cruel as Sheol;

The flashes thereof are flashes of fire,

A very flame of Jehovah.

7 Many waters cannot quench love,

Neither can floods drown it:

If a man would give all the substance of his house for love,

He would utterly be contemned.

8 We have a little sister,

And she hath no breasts:

What shall we do for our sister

In the day when she shall be spoken for?

9 If she be a wall,

We will build upon her a turret of silver:

And if she be a door,

We will inclose her with boards of cedar.

10 I am a wall, and my breasts like the towers thereof:

Then was I in his eyes as one that found peace.

11 Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon;

He let out the vineyard unto keepers;

Every one for the fruit thereof was to bring a thousand pieces of silver.

12 My vineyard, which is mine, is before me:

Thou, O Solomon, shalt have the thousand,

And those that keep the fruit thereof two hundred.

13 Thou that dwellest in the gardens,

The companions hearken for thy voice:

Cause me to hear it.

14 Make haste, my beloved,

And be thou like to a roe or to a young hart

Upon the mountains of spices.
