He Whakapuaki Whakanui
Te Tāne
1 Anō te ātaahua o ōu waewae i roto i ōu hū,
e te tamāhine a te rangatira!
Ko ngā hononga o ōu hūhā, koia anō kei o ngā peara,
he mea hanga nā ngā ringa o te kaimahi mōhio.
2 Ko tōu pito, koia anō kei te oko porotaka,
kīhai i hapa i te wāina whakaranu;
ko tōu kōpū, ānō he pūranga wīti
kua oti te karapoti ki ngā rengarenga.
3 Nō ōu ū e rua, ānō ko ngā kūao e rua,
he māhanga nā te anaterope.
4 Ko tōu kakī ānō he pourewa rei.
Ko ōu kanohi, ānō ko ngā roto wai i Hehepona,
i te Kūwaha o Peterapimi.
Ko tōu ihu, ānō ko te Pourewa o Repanōna,
e titiro atu nei ki Ramahiku.
5 Ko tōu māhunga, i runga i a koe rite tonu ki Karamere,
ā, ko te makawe o tōu māhunga, ki te pāpura;
e mau herehere ana te kīngi i roto i ōna uru.
6 Anō te ātaahua, anō te pai ōu,
e te mea e arohaina ana, āhuareka tonu!
7 Rite tonu koe ki te nīkau i a koe e tū nei,
ā, ko ōu ū ki ngā tautau karepe.
8 I mea ahau, "Ka pikitia e ahau te nīkau,
ka hopukia atu e ahau ōna manga."
Kia rite ōu ū ki ngā tautau o te wāina,
te kakara o tōu hā ki te āporo;
9 ā, ko tōu māngai kia rite ki te wāina tino pai
e mania nei tāna heke mā tāku e aroha nei,
e rere ana nā ngā ngutu o te hunga e moe ana.
Te Wahine
10 Kei tāku e aroha nei ahau;
ko ahau anō tāna e hiahia ai.
11 Haere mai, e tāku e aroha nei,
tāua ka haere ki te pārae,
ka moe tāua ki ngā pā ririki.
12 Kia moata tō tāua maranga ki ngā māra wāina;
kia kite ai, e tupu ana rānei te wāina,
kua puta rānei te karepe hou,
e kōpuku ana rānei ngā pamekaranete.
Ko reira hoatu ai e ahau tōku aroha ki a koe.
13 Kei te patu te kakara o ngā manitareki,
kei ō tāua kūwaha anō ngā momo hua papai katoa,
ngā mea hou, ngā mea tawhito,
he mea rongoā nāku māu, e tāku e aroha nei.
1 How beautiful are thy feet in sandals, O prince’s daughter!
Thy rounded thighs are like jewels,
The work of the hands of a skilful workman.
2 Thy body is like a round goblet,
Wherein no mingled wine is wanting:
Thy waist is like a heap of wheat
Set about with lilies.
3 Thy two breasts are like two fawns
That are twins of a roe.
4 Thy neck is like the tower of ivory;
Thine eyes as the pools in Heshbon,
By the gate of Bath-rabbim;
Thy nose is like the tower of Lebanon
Which looketh toward Damascus.
5 Thy head upon thee is like Carmel,
And the hair of thy head like purple;
The king is held captive in the tresses thereof.
6 How fair and how pleasant art thou,
O love, for delights!
7 This thy stature is like to a palm-tree,
And thy breasts to its clusters.
8 I said, I will climb up into the palm-tree,
I will take hold of the branches thereof:
Let thy breasts be as clusters of the vine,
And the smell of thy breath like apples,
9 And thy mouth like the best wine,
That goeth down smoothly for my beloved,
Gliding through the lips of those that are asleep.
10 I am my beloved’s;
And his desire is toward me.
11 Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field;
Let us lodge in the villages.
12 Let us get up early to the vineyards;
Let us see whether the vine hath budded,
And its blossom is open,
And the pomegranates are in flower:
There will I give thee my love.
13 The mandrakes give forth fragrance;
And at our doors are all manner of precious fruits, new and old,
Which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved.
