1 Depois disso, Jesus se manifestou outra vez aos discípulos junto ao mar de Tiberíades. Foi assim que ele se manifestou: 2 Estavam juntos Simão Pedro, Tomé, chamado Dídimo, Natanael, que era de Caná da Galileia, os filhos de Zebedeu e mais dois discípulos de Jesus. 3 Simão Pedro disse aos outros:

— Vou pescar.

Os outros responderam:

— Nós também vamos com você.

Foram e entraram no barco, mas, naquela noite, não pegaram nada.

4 Ao romper o dia, Jesus estava na praia, mas os discípulos não reconheceram que era ele. 5 Jesus lhes perguntou:

— Filhos, será que vocês têm aí alguma coisa para comer?

Eles responderam:

— Não.

6 Então Jesus disse:

— Joguem a rede à direita do barco e vocês acharão.

Assim fizeram e já não podiam puxar a rede, tão grande era a quantidade de peixes. 7 E o discípulo a quem Jesus amava disse a Pedro:

— É o Senhor!

Simão Pedro, ouvindo que era o Senhor, cingiu-se com a sua túnica, porque tinha tirado a roupa, e lançou-se ao mar. 8 Os outros discípulos vieram no barquinho puxando a rede com os peixes, porque estavam somente a uns noventa metros da margem.

9 Ao saltarem em terra, viram ali umas brasas com peixe por cima; e também havia pão. 10 Jesus lhes disse:

— Tragam alguns dos peixes que vocês acabaram de pegar.

11 Simão Pedro entrou no barco e arrastou a rede para a terra. A rede estava cheia, com cento e cinquenta e três grandes peixes. E, mesmo sendo tantos peixes, a rede não se rompeu. 12 Jesus disse a eles:

— Venham comer.

Nenhum dos discípulos ousava perguntar: "Quem é você?" Porque sabiam que era o Senhor. 13 Jesus veio, pegou o pão e deu a eles. Depois fez a mesma coisa com o peixe. 14 E esta já era a terceira vez que Jesus se manifestava aos seus discípulos depois de ressuscitado dentre os mortos.

15 Depois de terem comido, Jesus perguntou a Simão Pedro:

— Simão, filho de João, você me ama mais do que estes outros me amam?

Ele respondeu:

— Sim, o Senhor sabe que eu o amo.

Jesus lhe disse:

— Apascente os meus cordeiros.

16 Jesus perguntou pela segunda vez:

— Simão, filho de João, você me ama?

Ele respondeu:

— Sim, o Senhor sabe que eu o amo.

Jesus lhe disse:

— Pastoreie as minhas ovelhas.

17 Pela terceira vez Jesus lhe perguntou:

— Simão, filho de João, você me ama?

Pedro ficou triste por Jesus ter perguntado pela terceira vez: "Você me ama?" E respondeu:

— O Senhor sabe todas as coisas; sabe que eu o amo.

Jesus lhe disse:

— Apascente as minhas ovelhas. 18 Em verdade, em verdade lhe digo que, quando era mais moço, você se cingia e andava por onde queria. Mas, quando você for velho, estenderá as mãos, e outro o cingirá e o levará para onde você não quer ir.

19 Jesus disse isso para significar com que tipo de morte Pedro havia de glorificar a Deus. Depois de falar assim, Jesus acrescentou:

— Siga-me.

20 Então Pedro, voltando-se, viu que o discípulo a quem Jesus amava vinha seguindo; era o mesmo que na ceia havia se reclinado sobre o peito de Jesus para perguntar: "Senhor, quem é o traidor?" 21 Ao vê-lo, Pedro perguntou a Jesus:

— Senhor, e quanto a este?

22 Jesus respondeu:

— Se eu quero que ele permaneça até que eu venha, o que você tem com isso? Quanto a você, siga-me.

23 Então se espalhou entre os irmãos a notícia de que aquele discípulo não morreria. Ora, Jesus não tinha dito que tal discípulo não morreria, mas: "Se eu quero que ele permaneça até que eu venha, o que você tem com isso?"

24 Este é o discípulo que dá testemunho a respeito destas coisas e que as escreveu; e sabemos que o seu testemunho é verdadeiro.

25 Há, porém, ainda muitas outras coisas que Jesus fez. Se todas elas fossem relatadas uma por uma, penso que nem no mundo inteiro caberiam os livros que seriam escritos.

1 After these things Jesus manifested himself again to his disciples at the sea of Tiberias. And he revealed himself this way.2 There were together, Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other men of his disciples.3 Simon Peter says to them, I am going to harvest fish. They say to him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and straightaway entered into the boat. And in that night they caught nothing.4 But having now become morning, Jesus stood on the shore. However the disciples had not seen that it was Jesus.5 Therefore Jesus says to them, Children, have ye anything eatable? They answered him, No.6 And he said to them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and ye will find. Therefore they cast, and they were no longer able to draw it for the magnitude of fishes.7 That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved says to Peter, It is the Lord. So when Simon Peter heard that it is the Lord, he tied the coat around himself (for he was undressed), and threw himself into the sea.8 And the other disciples came in the skiff (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits off), dragging the net of the fishes.9 So when they came to the land, they saw a fire of coals set, and fish laying on it, and bread.10 Jesus says to them, Bring from the fishes that ye now caught.11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land, full of great fishes, a hundred and fifty-three. And being so many, the net was not broken.12 Jesus says to them, Come, eat breakfast. And none of the disciples dared to query him, Who are thou? knowing that it is the Lord.13 Jesus therefore comes, and takes the bread, and gives to them, and the fish likewise.14 This is now a third time Jesus was manifested to his disciples after being raised from the dead.15 So when they ate breakfast, Jesus says to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonah, do thou love me more than these things? He says to him, Yea, Lord. Thou know that I love thee. He says to him, Feed my lambs.16 He says to him again a second time, Simon, son of Jonah, do thou love me? He says to him, Yea, Lord. Thou know that I love thee. He says to him, Feed my sheep.17 He says to him the third time, Simon, son of Jonah, do thou love me? Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, Do thou love me? And he said to him, Lord, thou know all things. Thou know that I love thee. Jesus says t18 Truly, truly, I say to thee, When thou were younger, thou girded thyself, and walked where thou would, but when thou become old, thou will stretch forth thy hands, and another will gird thee, and carry thee where thou do not want.19 Now he said this, signifying by what kind of death he will glorify God. And after saying this, he says to him, Follow me.20 But Peter, having turned around, sees the disciple whom Jesus loves, following, who also leaned near his chest at the supper, and said, Lord, who is the man betraying thee?21 Having seen this man, Peter says to Jesus, Lord, and what of this man?22 Jesus says to him, If I want him to remain until I come, what is it to thee? Follow thou me.23 This saying therefore went forth among the brothers, that that disciple does not die. And yet Jesus did not say to him, that he does not die, but, If I want him to remain until I come, what is it to thee?24 This is the disciple who testifies about these things, and who wrote these things. And we know that his testimony is true.25 And there are also many other things, as many as Jesus did, which if they would be written every one, I suppose not even the world itself to make room for the books being written.
