1 Vi, na mão direita daquele que estava sentado no trono, um livro em forma de rolo escrito por dentro e por fora, e selado com sete selos. 2 Vi, também, um anjo forte, que proclamava com voz forte:

— Quem é digno de quebrar os selos e abrir o livro?

3 Ora, nem no céu, nem sobre a terra, nem debaixo da terra, ninguém podia abrir o livro, nem mesmo olhar para ele. 4 E eu chorava muito, porque ninguém foi achado digno de abrir o livro, nem mesmo de olhar para ele. 5 Então um dos anciãos me disse:

— Não chore! Eis que o Leão da tribo de Judá, a Raiz de Davi, venceu para quebrar os sete selos e abrir o livro.

6 Então vi, no meio do trono e dos quatro seres viventes e entre os anciãos, em pé, um Cordeiro que parecia que tinha sido morto. Ele tinha sete chifres, bem como sete olhos, que são os sete espíritos de Deus enviados por toda a terra. 7 O Cordeiro foi e pegou o livro da mão direita daquele que estava sentado no trono. 8 E, quando ele pegou o livro, os quatro seres viventes e os vinte e quatro anciãos se prostraram diante do Cordeiro, tendo cada um deles uma harpa e taças de ouro cheias de incenso, que são as orações dos santos, 9 e cantavam um cântico novo, dizendo:

"Digno és de pegar o livro

e de quebrar os selos,

porque foste morto

e com o teu sangue

compraste para Deus

os que procedem de toda tribo,

língua, povo e nação

10 e para o nosso Deus

os constituíste

reino e sacerdotes;

e eles reinarão sobre a terra."

11 Vi e ouvi uma voz de muitos anjos ao redor do trono, dos seres viventes e dos anciãos, cujo número era de milhões de milhões e milhares de milhares, 12 proclamando com voz forte:

"Digno é o Cordeiro que foi morto

de receber o poder, a riqueza,

a sabedoria, a força,

a honra, a glória e o louvor."

13 Então ouvi que toda criatura que há no céu e sobre a terra, debaixo da terra e sobre o mar, e tudo o que neles há, estava dizendo:

"Àquele que está sentado no trono

e ao Cordeiro

sejam o louvor, a honra,

a glória e o domínio

para todo o sempre."

14 E os quatro seres viventes respondiam: "Amém!" Também os anciãos se prostraram e adoraram.

1 I saw a book in the right hand of him who sat on the throne. It had writing on the inside and on the back and was sealed with seven seals.2 And I saw a powerful angel proclaiming with a loud voice: "Who is worthy to open the book, and to remove the seals?"3 No one in heaven, on earth or under the earth was able to open the book and look inside.4 I wept much because no one was found worthy to open, look inside, and read the book.5 One of the elders said to me: "Do not weep; the Lion of the tribe of Judah of the Root of David has succeeded in opening the book and removing the seven seals."6 I saw a Lamb that looked as though it had been slain, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders. The lamb had seven horns and seven eyes. These are the seven Spirits of God sent into all the earth.7 He came to the one who sat on the throne and received the book from his right hand.8 When he took the book the four living creatures and twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Every one of them had harps, and golden bowls full of incense. These are the prayers of the holy ones.9 They sing a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the book, and to open the seals, for you were slaughtered and by your blood you bought persons for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation.10 "You made them kings and priests to our God. They will reign as kings over the earth."11 I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders. The number of them was ten thousand myriads times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands.12 They said with a loud voice: "The Lamb that was slaughtered is worthy to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing."13 I heard every creature in heaven and on earth. I also heard those under the earth, in the sea, and all that are in them. They said: "Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be to him who sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb forever and ever."14 The four living creatures said: "Amen" and the twenty-four elders fell down and worshipped.
