1 Jotão tinha vinte e cinco anos de idade quando começou a reinar e reinou dezesseis anos em Jerusalém. A mãe dele se chamava Jerusa e era filha de Zadoque. 2 Fez o que era reto aos olhos do Senhor, segundo tudo o que Uzias, seu pai, havia feito, exceto que não entrou no templo do Senhor. E o povo continuava na prática do mal.

3 Ele edificou o Portão de Cima da Casa do Senhor e também edificou muitas obras sobre a Muralha de Ofel. 4 Também construiu cidades na região montanhosa de Judá e castelos e torres nos bosques. 5 Ele também guerreou contra o rei dos filhos de Amom e o derrotou, de modo que os filhos de Amom, naquele ano, lhe deram três mil e quatrocentos quilos de prata, mil toneladas de trigo e mil toneladas de cevada. E eles lhe trouxeram isto também no segundo e no terceiro ano. 6 Assim, Jotão se tornou cada vez mais poderoso, porque dirigia os seus caminhos segundo a vontade do Senhor, seu Deus.

7 Quanto aos demais atos de Jotão, todas as suas guerras e empreendimentos, eis que está tudo escrito no Livro da História dos Reis de Israel e de Judá. 8 Tinha vinte e cinco anos de idade quando começou a reinar e reinou dezesseis anos em Jerusalém. 9 Jotão morreu e foi sepultado na Cidade de Davi. E Acaz, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.

1 twenty-five years old, was Jotham when he began to reign, and, sixteen years, reigned he in Jerusalem,and, the name of his mother, was Jerushah, daughter of Zadok.2 And he did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that Uzziah his father had done, only he entered not into the temple of Yahweh,though still were the people acting corruptly.3 He, built the upper gate of the house of Yahweh,-and, on the wall of Ophel, built he extensively.4 Cities also, built he, in the hill country of Judah,and, in the thick woods, built he fortresses and towers.5 He, also made war against the king of the sons of Ammon, and prevailed against them, and the sons of Ammon gave him, during that year, a hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and, of barley, ten thousand,this, did the sons of Ammon render him, both in the second year, and the third.6 So Jotham strengthened himself,for he fixed his ways before Yahweh his God.7 But, the rest of the story of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, lo! there they are written in the book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.8 Twenty-five years old, was he when he began to reign,and, sixteen years, reigned he in Jerusalem.9 And Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him, in the city of David,and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.
