1 Paulo, apóstolo de Cristo Jesus pela vontade de Deus, conforme a promessa da vida em Cristo Jesus, 2 ao amado filho Timóteo.

Que a graça, a misericórdia e a paz, da parte de Deus Pai e de Cristo Jesus, nosso Senhor, estejam com você.

3 Dou graças a Deus, a quem, desde os meus antepassados, sirvo com a consciência limpa, porque, sem cessar, lembro de você nas minhas orações, noite e dia. 4 Lembro das suas lágrimas e estou ansioso por ver você, para que eu transborde de alegria. 5 Lembro da sua fé sem fingimento, a mesma que, primeiramente, habitou em sua avó Loide e em sua mãe Eunice, e estou certo de que habita também em você.

6 Por esta razão, venho lembrar-lhe que reavive o dom de Deus que está em você pela imposição das minhas mãos. 7 Porque Deus não nos deu espírito de covardia, mas de poder, de amor e de moderação.

8 Portanto, não se envergonhe do testemunho de nosso Senhor, nem do seu prisioneiro, que sou eu. Pelo contrário, participe comigo dos sofrimentos a favor do evangelho, segundo o poder de Deus, 9 que nos salvou e nos chamou com santa vocação, não segundo as nossas obras, mas conforme a sua própria determinação e graça que nos foi dada em Cristo Jesus, antes dos tempos eternos, 10 e manifestada agora pelo aparecimento de nosso Salvador Cristo Jesus. Ele não só destruiu a morte, como trouxe à luz a vida e a imortalidade, mediante o evangelho.

11 Para este evangelho eu fui designado pregador, apóstolo e mestre 12 e, por isso, estou sofrendo estas coisas. Mas não me envergonho, porque sei em quem tenho crido e estou certo de que ele é poderoso para guardar aquilo que me foi confiado até aquele Dia. 13 Mantenha o padrão das sãs palavras que de mim você ouviu com fé e com o amor que há em Cristo Jesus. 14 Por meio do Espírito Santo, que habita em nós, guarde o bom tesouro que lhe foi confiado.

15 Você já deve estar ciente de que todos os da província da Ásia me abandonaram. Entre eles estão Fígelo e Hermógenes. 16 Que o Senhor conceda misericórdia à casa de Onesíforo, porque, muitas vezes, me deu ânimo e nunca se envergonhou das minhas algemas. 17 Pelo contrário, quando chegou a Roma, me procurou com persistência até me encontrar. 18 O Senhor lhe conceda que, naquele Dia, ache misericórdia da parte do Senhor. Você sabe, melhor do que eu, quantos serviços ele me prestou em Éfeso.

2 Unto Timothy, my beloved child: Favour, mercy, peace, from God our Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord.

3 Grateful, am I, unto God,unto whom I am rendering divine service from my progenitors in a pure conscience, that, incessant, hold I the remembrance, concerning thee, in my supplications; day and night,

4 longing to see thee, being mindful of thy tears,in order that, with joy, I may be filled:

5 A reminder, having received, of the unfeigned faith, that is in thee,such, as dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and in thy mother Eunice,I am persuaded, moreover, that

6 For which cause, I put thee in remembrance, to be stirring up Gods gift of favour, which is in thee through means of the laying on of my hands;

7 For God hath not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power, and love, and correction.

8 Be not thou, therefore, put to shamewith regard to the witness of our Lord, nor with regard to me his prisoner; but suffer hardship together with the glad-message according to the power of God,

9 Who hath saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to the peculiar purpose and favourwhich was given to us in Christ Jesus before age-during times,

10 But hath now been made manifest through means of the forthshining of our Saviour Christ Jesus,Who, indeed, hath abolished death, and hath thrown light upon life and incorruptibility, through means of the glad-message:

11 Whereunto, I, have been appointed herald and apostle and teacher;

12 For which cause, these things also, am I suffering; nevertheless I am not being put to shame, for I know him whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is, able, to guard, that which I have entrusted, unto, that, day.

13 An outline, have thou, of healthful discourses which from me thou hast heardwith the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus:

16 The Lord grant mercy unto the house, of Onesiphorus, in that, ofttimes, hath he refreshed me, and, as regardeth my chain, hath not been put to shame,

17 But, happening to be in Rome, he diligently sought out and found me,
