1 O Senhor disse a Moisés:

2 — Diga aos filhos de Israel: Se uma mulher conceber e tiver um menino, ficará impura durante sete dias; como nos dias da sua menstruação, ficará impura. 3 E, no oitavo dia, o menino será circuncidado. 4 Depois, ela ficará trinta e três dias a purificar-se do seu sangue; nenhuma coisa santa tocará, nem entrará no santuário até que se cumpram os dias da sua purificação. 5 Mas, se tiver uma menina, ficará impura durante duas semanas, como na sua menstruação; depois, ficará sessenta e seis dias a purificar-se do seu sangue.

6 — E, cumpridos os dias da sua purificação pelo nascimento de um filho ou de uma filha, trará ao sacerdote, à porta da tenda do encontro, um cordeiro de um ano, por holocausto, e um pombinho ou uma rolinha, por oferta pelo pecado; 7 o sacerdote oferecerá esse sacrifício diante do Senhor e, pela mulher, fará expiação; e ela será purificada do fluxo do seu sangue. Esta é a lei a respeito da que der à luz um menino ou uma menina. 8 Mas, se as suas posses não lhe permitirem trazer um cordeiro, então a mulher trará duas rolinhas ou dois pombinhos, um para o holocausto e o outro para a oferta pelo pecado; assim, o sacerdote fará expiação pela mulher, e ela ficará pura.

1 And Yahweh spake unto Moses, saying:2 Speak unto the sons of Israel, saying, A woman when she conceiveth seed and giveth birth to a male child, then shall she be unclean seven days, according to the days of her removal in her sickness shall she be unclean.3 And, on the eighth day, shall the flesh of his foreskin be circumcised.4 And, for thirty-three days, shall she continue in the blood of purification,no hallowed thing, shall she touch, and, into the sanctuary, shall she not enter, until her days of purification are fulfilled.5 But if, a female child, she bear, then shall she be unclean two weeks as in her removal,and, for sixty-six days, shall she continue in the blood of purification.6 And, when the days of her purification are fulfilled, whether for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring in a lamb, the choice of its year, as an ascending-sacrifice, and a young pigeon or a turtle-dove, as a sin-bearer, unto the entrance of the tent of meeting, unto the priest;7 and he shall bring it near before Yahweh so shall the priest put a propitiatory-covering over her, and she shall be clean from her fountain of blood. This, is the law for her that hath given birth, to a male child or to a female.8 But, if her hand findeth not sufficiency for a lamb, then shall she take two turtle doves or two young pigeons, one for an ascending-sacrifice and one for a sin-bearer,so shall the priest put a propitiatory-covering over her, and she shall he clean.
