Isaías 53

1 Quem creu na nossa mensagem

e a quem foi revelado o braço do Senhor?

2 Ele cresceu diante dele como um broto tenro

e como raiz de uma terra seca.

Ele não tinha nenhuma beleza ou majestade que nos atraísse,

nada havia na sua aparência para que o desejássemos.

3 Foi desprezado e rejeitado pelos homens,

um homem de dores e experimentado no sofrimento.

Como alguém de quem os homens escondem o rosto,

foi desprezado, e não o tínhamos em estima.

4 Certamente ele tomou sobre si as nossas enfermidades

e sobre si levou as nossas doenças;

contudo, nós o consideramos castigado por Deus,

atingido por Deus e afligido.

5 Ele, porém, foi traspassado por causa das nossas transgressões

e esmagado por causa das nossas iniquidades;

o castigo que nos trouxe a paz estava sobre ele,

e pelas suas feridas fomos curados.

6 Todos nós, como ovelhas, nos desviamos,

cada um de nós se voltou para o seu próprio caminho,

mas o Senhor fez cair sobre ele

a iniquidade de todos nós.

7 Ele foi oprimido e afligido;

contudo, não abriu a boca;

como cordeiro, foi levado para o matadouro;

como uma ovelha fica muda diante dos seus tosquiadores,

não abriu a boca.

8 Com julgamento opressivo, ele foi levado.

E quem da sua geração se importou?*53.8 Ou E quem pode falar dos seus descendentes?

Pois ele foi eliminado da terra dos viventes;

por causa da transgressão do meu povo, ele foi golpeado.*53.8 Ou Contudo, quem da sua geração considerou que ele foi eliminado da terra dos viventes por causa da transgressão do meu povo, para quem era devido o castigo?

9 Foi-lhe dado um túmulo com os ímpios

e com os ricos na sua morte,

embora não tivesse cometido violência

nem houvesse engano algum na sua boca.

10 Contudo, foi da vontade do Senhor esmagá-lo e fazê-lo sofrer.

Embora o Senhor tenha feito*53.10 Hebraico: embora você tenha feito. da vida dele uma oferta pela culpa,

ele verá a sua descendência e prolongará os seus dias,

e a vontade do Senhor prosperará na sua mão.

11 Depois do sofrimento da sua alma,

ele verá a luz*53.11 Conforme os manuscritos do mar Morto (veja também a Septuaginta). O Texto Massorético não traz a luz. e ficará satisfeito;*53.11 Ou Ele verá o resultado do sofrimento da sua alma e ficará satisfeito.

pelo seu conhecimento, o meu servo justo justificará a muitos

e levará a iniquidade deles.

12 Por isso, eu lhe darei uma porção entre os grandes,*53.12 Ou entre muitos.

e ele dividirá os despojos com os fortes,*53.12 Ou numerosos.

pois derramou a sua vida até a morte

e foi contado entre os transgressores.

Porque ele levou o pecado de muitos

e pelos transgressores intercedeu.

1 Who has believed our message

and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,

and like a root out of dry ground.

He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,

nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,

a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.

Like one from whom people hide their faces

he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

4 Surely he took up our pain

and bore our suffering,

yet we considered him punished by God,

stricken by him, and afflicted.

5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,

he was crushed for our iniquities;

the punishment that brought us peace was on him,

and by his wounds we are healed.

6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,

each of us has turned to our own way;

and the Lord has laid on him

the iniquity of us all.

7 He was oppressed and afflicted,

yet he did not open his mouth;

he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,

and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,

so he did not open his mouth.

8 By oppression*53:8 Or From arrest and judgment he was taken away.

Yet who of his generation protested?

For he was cut off from the land of the living;

for the transgression of my people he was punished.*53:8 Or generation considered / that he was cut off from the land of the living, / that he was punished for the transgression of my people?

9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,

and with the rich in his death,

though he had done no violence,

nor was any deceit in his mouth.

10 Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,

and though the Lord makes*53:10 Hebrew though you make his life an offering for sin,

he will see his offspring and prolong his days,

and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.

11 After he has suffered,

he will see the light of life*53:11 Dead Sea Scrolls (see also Septuagint); Masoretic Text does not have the light of life. and be satisfied*53:11 Or (with Masoretic Text) 11 He will see the fruit of his suffering / and will be satisfied;

by his knowledge*53:11 Or by knowledge of him my righteous servant will justify many,

and he will bear their iniquities.

12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,*53:12 Or many

and he will divide the spoils with the strong,*53:12 Or numerous

because he poured out his life unto death,

and was numbered with the transgressors.

For he bore the sin of many,

and made intercession for the transgressors.
