Isaías 54

A futura glória de Sião

1 "Regozije-se, ó estéril,

você que nunca teve um filho;

irrompa em gritos de alegria e júbilo,

você que nunca esteve em trabalho de parto!

Porque muitos são os filhos da mulher abandonada,

mais do que os daquela que tem marido", diz o Senhor.

2 "Alargue o lugar da sua tenda,

estenda bem as cortinas das suas habitações, não o impeça;

estique as suas cordas,

firme as suas estacas.

3 Porque você se estenderá para a direita e para a esquerda;

os seus descendentes desapossarão nações

e se estabelecerão nas suas cidades abandonadas.

4 "Não tenha medo; você não sofrerá vergonha.

Não tema o constrangimento; você não será humilhada.

Você se esquecerá da vergonha da sua juventude

e nunca mais se lembrará da humilhação da sua viuvez.

5 Pois aquele que a fez é o seu marido,

o Senhor dos Exércitos é o seu nome,

o Santo de Israel é o seu Redentor;

ele é chamado o Deus de toda a terra.

6 O Senhor chamará você de volta

como se você fosse uma mulher abandonada e aflita de espírito,

uma mulher que se casou nova

apenas para ser rejeitada", diz o seu Deus.

7 "Por um breve instante, eu a abandonei,

mas com profunda compaixão a trarei de volta.

8 Em um impulso de ira,

escondi de você por um instante o meu rosto,

mas com bondade eterna

terei compaixão de você",

diz o Senhor, o seu Redentor.

9 "Para mim, isso é como as águas de Noé,

quando jurei que as águas de Noé nunca voltariam a cobrir a terra.

De modo que, agora, jurei não ficar irado contra você

nem voltar a repreendê-la.

10 Embora os montes sejam sacudidos

e as colinas sejam removidas,

ainda assim a minha fidelidade para com você não será abalada,

nem será removida a minha aliança de paz",

diz o Senhor, que tem compaixão de você.

11 "Ó cidade aflita, açoitada por tempestades e desconsolada!

Eu a edificarei com turquesas,

edificarei os seus alicerces com safiras.

12 Farei de rubis os seus parapeitos,

de joias brilhantes as suas portas

e de pedras preciosas todos os seus muros.

13 Todos os seus filhos serão ensinados pelo Senhor,

e grande será a paz das suas crianças.

14 Em retidão, você será estabelecida.

A tirania estará distante;

você não terá nada a temer.

O pavor estará removido para longe;

ele não se aproximará de você.

15 Se alguém a atacar, não será por obra minha;

todo aquele que a atacar cairá diante de você.

16 "Veja, fui eu quem criou o ferreiro,

que sopra as brasas até darem chama

e forja uma arma própria para o seu fim.

Fui eu quem criou o destruidor para gerar o caos;

17 nenhuma arma forjada contra você prevalecerá,

e você refutará toda língua que a acusar.

Esta é a herança dos servos do Senhor,

e esta é a defesa que faço do nome deles", declara o Senhor.

The Future Glory of Zion

1 "Sing, barren woman,

you who never bore a child;

burst into song, shout for joy,

you who were never in labor;

because more are the children of the desolate woman

than of her who has a husband,"

says the Lord.

2 "Enlarge the place of your tent,

stretch your tent curtains wide,

do not hold back;

lengthen your cords,

strengthen your stakes.

3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left;

your descendants will dispossess nations

and settle in their desolate cities.

4 "Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame.

Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated.

You will forget the shame of your youth

and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.

5 For your Maker is your husband—

the Lord Almighty is his name—

the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;

he is called the God of all the earth.

6 The Lord will call you back

as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit—

a wife who married young,

only to be rejected," says your God.

7 "For a brief moment I abandoned you,

but with deep compassion I will bring you back.

8 In a surge of anger

I hid my face from you for a moment,

but with everlasting kindness

I will have compassion on you,"

says the Lord your Redeemer.

9 "To me this is like the days of Noah,

when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth.

So now I have sworn not to be angry with you,

never to rebuke you again.

10 Though the mountains be shaken

and the hills be removed,

yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken

nor my covenant of peace be removed,"

says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

11 "Afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted,

your foundations with lapis lazuli.

12 I will make your battlements of rubies,

your gates of sparkling jewels,

and all your walls of precious stones.

13 All your children will be taught by the Lord,

and great will be their peace.

14 In righteousness you will be established:

Tyranny will be far from you;

you will have nothing to fear.

Terror will be far removed;

it will not come near you.

15 If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing;

whoever attacks you will surrender to you.

16 "See, it is I who created the blacksmith

who fans the coals into flame

and forges a weapon fit for its work.

And it is I who have created the destroyer to wreak havoc;

17 no weapon forged against you will prevail,

and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.

This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,

and this is their vindication from me,"

declares the Lord.
