1 E disse o Senhor a Moisés:2 "Consagre a mim todos os primogênitos. O primeiro filho israelita me pertence, não somente entre os homens, mas também entre os animais".3 Então disse Moisés ao povo: "Comemorem esse dia em que vocês saíram do Egito, da terra da escravidão, porque o Senhor os tirou dali com mão poderosa. Não comam nada fermentado.4 Neste dia do mês de abibe vocês estão saindo.5 Quando o Senhor os fizer entrar na terra dos cananeus, dos hititas, dos amorreus, dos heveus e dos jebuseus — terra que ele jurou aos seus antepassados que daria a vocês, terra onde manam leite e mel — vocês deverão celebrar esta cerimônia neste mesmo mês.6 Durante sete dias comam pão sem fermento e, no sétimo dia façam uma festa ao Senhor.7 Comam pão sem fermento durante os sete dias; não haja nada fermentado entre vocês, nem fermento algum dentro do seu território.8 "Nesse dia cada um dirá a seu filho: Assim faço pelo que o Senhor fez por mim quando saí do Egito.9 Isto lhe será como sinal em sua mão e memorial em sua testa, para que a lei do Senhor esteja em seus lábios, porque o Senhor o tirou do Egito com mão poderosa.10 Cumpra esta determinação na época certa, de ano em ano.11 "Depois que o Senhor os fizer entrar na terra dos cananeus e entregá-la a vocês, como jurou a vocês e aos seus antepassados,12 separem para o Senhor o primeiro nascido de todo ventre. Todos os primeiros machos dos seus rebanhos pertencem ao Senhor.13 Resgate com um cordeiro toda primeira cria dos jumentos, mas se não quiser resgatá-la, quebre-lhe o pescoço. Resgate também todo primogênito entre os seus filhos.14 "No futuro, quando os seus filhos lhes perguntarem: ‘Que significa isto? ’, digam-lhes: Com mão poderosa o Senhor nos tirou do Egito, da terra da escravidão.15 Quando o faraó resistiu e recusou deixar-nos sair, o Senhor matou todos os primogênitos do Egito, tanto de homens como de animais. Por isso sacrificamos ao Senhor os primeiros machos de todo ventre e resgatamos os nossos primogênitos.16 "Isto será como sinal em sua mão e marca em sua testa de que o Senhor nos tirou do Egito com mão poderosa".17 Quando o faraó deixou sair o povo, Deus não o guiou pela rota da terra dos filisteus, embora este fosse o caminho mais curto, pois disse: "Se eles se defrontarem com a guerra, talvez se arrependam e voltem para o Egito".18 Assim, o Senhor fez o povo dar a volta pelo deserto, seguindo o caminho que leva ao mar Vermelho. Os israelitas saíram do Egito preparados para lutar.19 Moisés levou os ossos de José, porque José havia feito os filhos de Israel prestarem um juramento, quando disse: "Deus certamente virá em auxílio de vocês; levem então os meus ossos daqui".20 Os israelitas partiram de Sucote e acamparam em Etã, junto ao deserto.21 Durante o dia o Senhor ia adiante deles, numa coluna de nuvem, para guiá-los no caminho, e de noite, numa coluna de fogo, para iluminá-los, e assim podiam caminhar de dia e de noite.22 A coluna de nuvem não se afastava do povo de dia, nem a coluna de fogo, de noite.

1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,2 Sanctify to me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the sons of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.3 And Moses said to the people, Remember this day, in which you{+} came out from Egypt, out of the house of slaves; for by strength of hand Yahweh brought you{+} out from this place: there will be no leavened bread eaten.4 This day you{+} go forth in the month Abib.5 And it will be, when Yahweh will bring you into the land of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, which he swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you will keep this service in this month.6 Seven days you will eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day will be a feast to Yahweh.7 Unleavened bread will be eaten throughout the seven days; and there will be no leavened bread seen with you, neither will there be leaven seen with you, in all your borders.8 And you will tell your son in that day, saying, It is because of that which Yahweh did for me when I came forth out of Egypt.9 And it will be for a sign to you on your hand, and for a memorial between your eyes, that the law of Yahweh may be in your mouth: for with a strong hand Yahweh has brought you out of Egypt.10 You will therefore keep this ordinance in its season from year to year.11 And it will be, when Yahweh will bring you into the land of the Canaanite, as he swore to you and to your fathers, and will give it you,12 that you will set apart to Yahweh all that opens the womb, and every firstborn which you have that comes of a beast; the males will be Yahweh's.13 And every firstborn of a donkey you will redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you will break its neck: and all the firstborn of man among your sons you will redeem.14 And it will be, when your son asks you in time to come, saying, What is this? Then you will say to him, By strength of hand Yahweh brought us out from Egypt, from the house of slaves:15 and it came to pass, when Pharaoh hardened against letting us go, that Yahweh slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of man to the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to Yahweh all that opens the womb, being males; but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.16 And it will be for a sign on your hand, and for frontlets between your eyes: for by strength of hand Yahweh brought us forth out of Egypt.17 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God didn't lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Or else perhaps the people will repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:18 but God led the people about, by the way of the wilderness by the Red Sea: and the sons of Israel went up armed out of the land of Egypt.19 And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the sons of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you{+}; and you{+} will carry up my bones away from here with you{+}.20 And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.21 And Yahweh went before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them the way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light, that they might go by day and by night:22 the pillar of cloud by day, and the pillar of fire by night, did not depart from before the people.
