1 "Naquele tempo", diz o Senhor, "serei o Deus de todas as famílias de Israel, e eles serão o meu povo. "2 Assim diz o Senhor: "O povo que escapou da morte achou favor no deserto". Quando Israel buscava descanso,3 o Senhor lhe apareceu no passado, dizendo: "Eu a amei com amor eterno; com amor leal a atrai.4 Eu a edificarei mais uma vez, ó virgem, Israel! Você será reconstruída! Mais uma vez você se enfeitará com guizos e sairá dançando com os que se alegram.5 De novo você plantará videiras nas colinas de Samaria; videiras que os lavradores que as tinham plantado antes profanaram.6 Porque vai chegando o dia em que os sentinelas gritarão nas colinas de Efraim: ‘Venham e subamos a Sião, à presença do Senhor, do nosso Deus’ ".7 Assim diz o Senhor: "Cantem de alegria por causa de Jacó; gritem, exaltando a principal das nações! Proclamem e dêem louvores dizendo: ‘O Senhor salvou o seu povo, o remanescente de Israel’.8 Vejam, eu os trarei da terra do norte e os reunirei dos confins da terra. Entre eles estarão o cego e o aleijado, mulheres grávidas e em trabalho de parto; uma grande multidão voltará.9 Voltarão com choro, mas eu os conduzirei em consolações. Eu os conduzirei às correntes de água por um caminho plano, onde não tropeçarão, porque sou pai para Israel e Efraim é o meu filho mais velho.10 "Ouçam a palavra do Senhor, ó nações, e proclamem nas ilhas distantes: ‘Aquele que dispersou Israel os reunirá e, como pastor, vigiará o seu rebanho’.11 O Senhor resgatou Jacó e o libertou das mãos do que é mais forte do que ele.12 Eles virão e cantarão de alegria nos altos de Sião; ficarão radiantes de alegria pelos muitos bens dados pelo Senhor: o cereal, o vinho novo, o azeite puro, as crias das ovelhas e das vacas. Serão como um jardim bem regado, e não mais se entristecerão.13 Então as moças dançarão de alegria, como também os jovens e os velhos. Transformarei o lamento deles em júbilo; eu lhes darei consolo e alegria em vez de tristeza.14 Satisfarei os sacerdotes com fartura; e o meu povo será saciado pela minha bondade", declara o Senhor.15 Assim diz o Senhor: "Ouve-se uma voz em Ramá, pranto e amargo choro; é Raquel que chora por seus filhos e recusa ser consolada, porque os seus filhos já não existem".16 Assim diz o Senhor: "Contenha o seu choro e as suas lágrimas, pois o seu sofrimento será recompensado", declara o Senhor. "Eles voltarão da terra do inimigo.17 Por isso há esperança para o seu futuro", declara o Senhor. "Seus filhos voltarão para a sua pátria.18 "Ouvi claramente Efraim lamentando-se: ‘Tu me disciplinaste como a um bezerro indomado, e fui disciplinado. Traze-me de volta, e voltarei, porque tu és o Senhor, o meu Deus.19 De fato, depois de desviar-me, eu me arrependi; depois que entendi, bati no meu peito. Estou envergonhado e humilhado porque trago sobre mim a desgraça da minha juventude’.20 Não é Efraim o meu filho querido? O filho em quem tenho prazer? Cada vez que eu falo sobre ele, mais intensamente me lembro dele. Por isso o meu coração por ele anseia; tenho por ele grande compaixão", declara o Senhor.21 "Coloque marcos e ponha sinais nas estradas, Preste atenção no caminho que você trilhou. Volte, ó Virgem, Israel! Volte para as suas cidades.22 Até quando você vagará, ó filha rebelde? O Senhor criou algo novo nesta terra: uma mulher abraça um guerreiro. "23 Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: "Quando eu os trouxer de volta do cativeiro, o povo de Judá e de suas cidades dirá novamente: ‘O Senhor a abençoe, ó morada justa, ó monte sagrado’.24 O povo viverá em Judá e em todas as suas cidades, tanto os lavradores como os que conduzem os rebanhos.25 Restaurarei o exausto e saciarei o enfraquecido".26 Então acordei e olhei em redor. Meu sono tinha sido agradável.27 "Virão dias", diz o Senhor, "em que semearei na comunidade de Israel e na comunidade de Judá homens e animais.28 Assim como os vigiei para arrancar e despedaçar, para derrubar, destruir e trazer a desgraça, também os vigiarei para edificar e plantar", declara o Senhor.29 "Naqueles dias não se dirá mais: ‘Os pais comeram uvas verdes, e os dentes dos filhos se mancharam’.  30 Ao contrário, cada um morrerá por causa do seu próprio pecado. Os dentes de todo aquele que comer uvas verdes se mancharam.31 "Estão chegando os dias", declara o Senhor, "quando farei uma nova aliança com a comunidade de Israel e com a comunidade de Judá".32 "Não será como a aliança que fiz com os seus antepassados quando os tomei pela mão para tirá-los do Egito; porque quebraram a minha aliança, apesar de eu ser o Senhor deles", diz o Senhor.33 "Esta é a aliança que farei com a comunidade de Israel depois daqueles dias", declara o Senhor: "Porei a minha lei no íntimo deles e a escreverei nos seus corações. Serei o Deus deles, e eles serão o meu povo.34 Ninguém mais ensinará ao seu próximo nem ao seu irmão, dizendo: ‘Conheça ao Senhor’, porque todos eles me conhecerão, desde o menor até o maior", diz o Senhor. "Porque eu lhes perdoarei a maldade e não me lembrarei mais dos seus pecados. "35 Assim diz o Senhor, aquele que designou o sol para brilhar de dia, que decretou que a lua e as estrelas brilhem de noite, que agita o mar para que as suas ondas rujam; o seu nome é o Senhor dos Exércitos:36 "Somente se esses decretos desaparecerem de diante de mim", declara o Senhor, "deixarão os descendentes de Israel de ser uma nação diante de mim para sempre".37 Assim diz o Senhor: "Se os céus em cima puderem ser medidos, e os alicerces da terra embaixo puderem ser sondados, então eu rejeitarei os descendentes de Israel, por causa de tudo o que eles têm feito", diz o Senhor.38 "Estão chegando os dias", declara o Senhor, "em que esta cidade será reconstruída para o Senhor, desde a torre de Hananeel até à porta da Esquina.39 A corda de medir será estendida diretamente até a colina de Garebe, indo na direção de Goa.40 Todo o vale, onde cadáveres e cinzas são jogados, e todos os terraços que dão para o vale do Cedrom a leste, até a esquina da porta dos Cavalos, serão consagrados ao Senhor. A cidade nunca mais será arrasada ou destruída. "

1 At that time, says Yahweh, I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be my people.2 Thus says Yahweh, The people who were left of the sword found favor in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.3 Yahweh appeared of old to me, [saying], Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love: therefore with loving-kindness I have drawn you.4 Again I will build you, and you will be built, O virgin of Israel: again you will be adorned with your tabrets, and will go forth in the dances of those who make merry.5 Again you will plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria; the planters will plant, and will enjoy [the fruit].6 For there will be a day, that the watchmen on the hills of Ephraim will cry, Arise{+}, and let us go up to Zion to Yahweh our God.7 For thus says Yahweh, Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout for the chief of the nations: publish{+}, praise{+}, and say, O Yahweh, save your people, the remnant of Israel.8 Look, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the uttermost parts of the earth, [and] with them the blind and the lame, the pregnant woman and her who travails with child together: a great company they will return here.9 They will come with weeping; and with supplications I will lead them: I will cause them to walk by rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they will not stumble; for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.10 Hear the word of Yahweh, O you{+} nations, and declare it in the isles far off; and say, He who scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd does his flock.11 For Yahweh has ransomed Jacob, and redeemed him from the hand of him who was stronger than he.12 And they will come and sing in the height of Zion, and will flow to the goodness of Yahweh, to the grain, and to the new wine, and to the oil, and to the sons of the flock and of the herd: and their soul will be as a watered garden; and they will not sorrow anymore at all.13 Then will the virgin rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old together; for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.14 And I will soak the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people will be satisfied with my goodness, says Yahweh.15 Thus says Yahweh: A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her sons; she refuses to be comforted for her sons, because they are not.16 Thus says Yahweh: Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; for your work will be rewarded, says Yahweh; and they will come again from the land of the enemy.17 And there is hope for your latter end, says Yahweh; and [your] sons will come again to their own border.18 I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself [thus], You have chastised me, and I was chastised, as a calf unaccustomed [to the yoke]: turn me, and I will be turned; for you are Yahweh my God.19 Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after I was instructed, I struck on my thigh: I was ashamed, yes, even confounded, because I bore the reproach of my youth.20 Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a darling child? For as often as I speak against him, I earnestly remember him still: therefore my insides yearn for him; I will surely have mercy on him, says Yahweh.21 Set up waymarks, make guideposts; set your heart toward the highway, even the way by which you went: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these cities of yours.22 How long will you go here and there, O you backsliding daughter? For Yahweh has created a new thing in the earth: a woman will encircle an [able-bodied] man.23 Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, Yet again they will use this speech in the land of Judah and in its cities, when I will bring again their captivity: Yahweh bless you, O habitation of righteousness, O mountain of holiness.24 And Judah and all its cities will dwell in it together, the husbandmen, and [those who] go about with flocks.25 For I have satiated the weary soul, and every sorrowful soul I have replenished.26 On this I awakened, and looked; and my sleep was sweet to me.27 Look, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.28 And it will come to pass that, like I have watched over them to pluck up and to break down and to overthrow and to destroy and to afflict, so I will watch over them to build and to plant, says Yahweh.29 In those days they will say no more, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the teeth of the sons are set on edge.30 But every one will die for his own iniquity: any among man who eats the sour grapes, his teeth will be set on edge.31 Look, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which covenant of mine they broke, although I was a husband to them, says Yahweh.33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says Yahweh: I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they will be my people:34 and they will teach no more every man his fellow man, and every man his brother, saying, Know Yahweh; for they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says Yahweh: for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.35 Thus says Yahweh, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea, so that its waves roar; Yahweh of hosts is his name:36 If these ordinances depart from before me, says Yahweh, then the seed of Israel also will cease from being a nation before me forever.37 Thus says Yahweh: If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, then I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, says Yahweh.38 Look, the days come, says Yahweh, that the city will be built to Yahweh from the tower of Hananel to the gate of the corner.39 And the measuring line will go out further straight onward to the hill Gareb, and will turn about to Goah.40 And the whole valley of the dead bodies and of the ashes, and all the fields to the brook Kidron, to the corner of the horse gate toward the east, will be holy to Yahweh; it will not be plucked up, nor thrown down anymore forever.
