1 O rei Davi se voltou para toda a comunidade e disse: "Meu filho Salomão, que Deus escolheu, ainda é jovem e inexperiente. O trabalho que ele tem pela frente é enorme, pois o templo que ele construirá não será para meros humanos, mas para o Senhor Deus. 2 Usando todos os recursos a meu dispor, juntei o que pude para a construção do templo de meu Deus. Agora, há ouro, prata, bronze, ferro e madeira suficientes, bem como grandes quantidades de ônix e outras pedras preciosas, joias caras, todo tipo de pedra da melhor qualidade e mármore.

3 "E agora, por causa de minha alegria com a construção do templo de meu Deus, entrego todos os meus tesouros pessoais, ouro e prata, para ajudar na construção, além de todos os materiais que juntei para o santo templo. 4 Ofereço 105 toneladas de ouro de Ofir e 245 toneladas de prata refinada para revestir as paredes das construções, 5 e para os outros trabalhos em ouro e prata a serem feitos pelos artesãos. Quem seguirá meu exemplo e entregará, hoje, ofertas ao Senhor?".

6 Então os chefes das famílias, os líderes das tribos, os generais e os capitães, e os administradores do rei ofertaram voluntariamente. 7 Para a construção do templo de Deus, entregaram 175 toneladas de ouro, 10.000 peças de ouro, 350 toneladas de prata, 630 toneladas de bronze e 3.500 toneladas de ferro. 8 Também contribuíram com pedras preciosas, que foram guardadas no tesouro da casa do Senhor, sob os cuidados de Jeiel, descendente de Gérson. 9 O povo se alegrou com as ofertas, pois as entregou ao Senhor voluntariamente e de todo o coração, e o rei Davi também se encheu de alegria.

10 Então Davi louvou o Senhor na presença de toda a comunidade:

"Ó Senhor, Deus de nosso antepassado Israel, louvado sejas para sempre! 11 Ó Senhor, a ti pertencem a grandeza, o poder, a glória, a vitória e a majestade. Tudo que há nos céus e na terra é teu, ó Senhor, e este é teu reino. Tu estás acima de tudo. 12 Riqueza e honra vêm somente de ti, pois tu governas sobre tudo. Poder e força estão em tuas mãos, e cabe a ti exaltar e dar força.

13 "Ó nosso Deus, damos graças e louvamos teu nome glorioso! 14 Mas quem sou eu, e quem é meu povo, para que pudéssemos te dar alguma coisa? Tudo que temos vem de ti, e demos apenas o que primeiro de ti recebemos! 15 Somos estrangeiros e peregrinos na terra, como nossos antepassados antes de nós. Nossos dias na terra são como uma sombra, passam rápido, sem deixar vestígio.

16 "Ó Senhor, nosso Deus, até mesmo estes materiais que juntamos para construir um templo em honra ao teu nome santo vêm de ti! Tudo pertence a ti! 17 Eu sei, meu Deus, que examinas nosso coração e te regozijas quando nele encontras integridade. Tu sabes que fiz tudo isso com boas intenções e vi teu povo entregar ofertas voluntariamente e com alegria.

18 "Ó Senhor, o Deus de nossos antepassados Abraão, Isaque e Israel, leva teu povo a sempre desejar te obedecer. Mantém o coração deles sempre leal a ti. 19 Dá a meu filho Salomão o desejo sincero de obedecer a todos os teus mandamentos, preceitos e decretos, e de fazer todo o necessário a fim de construir este templo, para o qual realizei estes preparativos".

20 Então Davi disse a toda a comunidade: "Louvem o Senhor, seu Deus!". E toda a comunidade louvou o Senhor, o Deus de seus antepassados, e eles se prostraram e se ajoelharam diante do Senhor e do rei.

21 No dia seguinte, trouxeram mil novilhos, mil carneiros e mil cordeiros e os apresentaram ao Senhor como sacrifícios e holocaustos. Também trouxeram ofertas derramadas e muitos outros sacrifícios em favor de todo o Israel. 22 Naquele dia, festejaram e comeram na presença do Senhor com grande alegria.

Mais uma vez, proclamaram Salomão, filho de Davi, como rei. Ungiram Salomão diante do Senhor, como seu líder, e ungiram Zadoque como sacerdote. 23 Salomão se sentou no trono do Senhor em lugar de seu pai, Davi. Foi bem-sucedido em tudo, e todo o Israel lhe obedecia. 24 Todos os oficiais, os guerreiros e os filhos de Davi prometeram ser leais ao rei Salomão. 25 O Senhor exaltou Salomão diante de todo o Israel e lhe deu mais esplendor que qualquer outro rei de Israel antes dele.

26 Davi, filho de Jessé, reinou sobre todo o Israel. 27 Reinou em Israel por quarenta anos, sete anos em Hebrom e 33 em Jerusalém. 28 Morreu em boa velhice, depois de desfrutar uma vida longa, cheia de riqueza e honra. Seu filho Salomão foi seu sucessor.

29 Todos os acontecimentos do reinado de Davi, do início ao fim, estão escritos no Registro do Vidente Samuel, no Registro do Profeta Natã e no Registro do Vidente Gade, 30 incluindo os grandes feitos de seu reinado e tudo que aconteceu com ele, com Israel e com todos os reinos vizinhos.

1 David the king said to all the assembly, "Solomon my son, whom alone God has chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great; for the palace is not for man, but for Yahweh God. 2 Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for the things of gold, the silver for the things of silver, the bronze for the things of bronze, iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood, also onyx stones, stones to be set, stones for inlaid work of various colors, all kinds of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance. 3 In addition, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, since I have a treasure of my own of gold and silver, I give it to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house: 4 even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, with which to overlay the walls of the houses; 5 of gold for the things of gold, and of silver for the things of silver, and for all kinds of work to be made by the hands of artisans. Who then offers willingly to consecrate himself today to Yahweh?"

6 Then the princes of the fathers’ households, and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers over the king’s work, offered willingly; 7 and they gave for the service of God’s house of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand darics, of silver ten thousand talents, of bronze eighteen thousand talents, and of iron one hundred thousand talents. 8 People with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of Yahweh’s house, under the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite. 9 Then the people rejoiced, because they offered willingly, because with a perfect heart they offered willingly to Yahweh; and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

10 Therefore David blessed Yahweh before all the assembly; and David said, "You are blessed, Yahweh, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever. 11 Yours, Yahweh, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty! For all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, Yahweh, and you are exalted as head above all. 12 Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all! In your hand is power and might! It is in your hand to make great, and to give strength to all! 13 Now therefore, our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name. 14 But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you, and we have given you of your own. 15 For we are strangers before you and foreigners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no remaining. 16 Yahweh our God, all this store that we have prepared to build you a house for your holy name comes from your hand, and is all your own. 17 I know also, my God, that you try the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things. Now I have seen with joy your people, who are present here, offer willingly to you. 18 Yahweh, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this desire forever in the thoughts of the heart of your people, and prepare their heart for you; 19 and give to Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for which I have made provision."

20 Then David said to all the assembly, "Now bless Yahweh your God!"

All the assembly blessed Yahweh, the God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads and prostrated themselves before Yahweh and the king. 21 They sacrificed sacrifices to Yahweh and offered burnt offerings to Yahweh on the next day after that day, even one thousand bulls, one thousand rams, and one thousand lambs, with their drink offerings and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel, 22 and ate and drank before Yahweh on that day with great gladness. They made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him before Yahweh to be prince, and Zadok to be priest.

23 Then Solomon sat on the throne of Yahweh as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him. 24 All the princes, the mighty men, and also all of the sons of king David submitted themselves to Solomon the king. 25 Yahweh magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and gave to him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.

26 Now David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel. 27 The time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; he reigned seven years in Hebron, and he reigned thirty-three years in Jerusalem. 28 He died at a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor; and Solomon his son reigned in his place. 29 Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the history of Samuel the seer, and in the history of Nathan the prophet, and in the history of Gad the seer, 30 with all his reign and his might, and the events that involved him, Israel, and all the kingdoms of the lands.
