1 Todo o Israel foi listado nos registros genealógicos do Livro dos Reis de Israel.

O povo de Judá foi exilado na Babilônia por causa de sua infidelidade. 2 Os primeiros exilados a regressar a suas propriedades em suas respectivas cidades foram os sacerdotes, os levitas, os servidores do templo, além de outros israelitas. 3 Alguns membros das tribos de Judá, Benjamim, Efraim e Manassés se estabeleceram em Jerusalém.

4 Uma das famílias a voltar foi a de Utai, filho de Amiúde, filho de Onri, filho de Inri, filho de Bani, descendente de Perez, filho de Judá.

5 Do clã dos silonitas, alguns dos que voltaram foram: Asaías, o mais velho, e seus filhos.

6 Do clã dos zeraítas, alguns dos que voltaram foram: Jeuel e seus parentes.

Ao todo, voltaram 690 famílias da tribo de Judá.

7 Da tribo de Benjamim, alguns dos que voltaram foram: Salu, filho de Mesulão, filho de Hodavias, filho de Hassenua; 8 Ibneias, filho de Jeroão; Elá, filho de Uzi, filho de Micri; e Mesulão, filho de Sefatias, filho de Reuel, filho de Ibnias.

9 Todos esses homens foram chefes de clãs e estão listados nos registros genealógicos. Ao todo, voltaram 956 famílias da tribo de Benjamim.

10 Dos sacerdotes, alguns dos que voltaram foram: Jedaías, Jeoiaribe, Jaquim, 11 Azarias, filho de Hilquias, filho de Mesulão, filho de Zadoque, filho de Meraiote, filho de Aitube. Azarias era o principal encarregado da casa de Deus.

12 Outros sacerdotes que voltaram foram: Adaías, filho de Jeroão, filho de Pasur, filho de Malquias; e Masai, filho de Adiel, filho de Jazera, filho de Mesulão, filho de Mesilemite, filho de Imer.

13 Ao todo, voltaram 1.760 sacerdotes. Foram chefes de clãs e homens muito capazes. Eram responsáveis por servir na casa de Deus.

14 Dos levitas, os que voltaram foram: Semaías, filho de Hassube, filho de Azricão, filho de Hasabias, descendente de Merari; 15 Baquebacar; Heres; Galal; Matanias, filho de Mica, filho de Zicri, filho de Asafe; 16 Obadias, filho de Semaías, filho de Galal, filho de Jedutum; e Berequias, filho de Asa, filho de Elcana, que morava na região de Netofate.

17 Dos guardas das portas, os que voltaram foram: Salum, Acube, Talmom, Aimã e seus parentes. Salum era o chefe dos guardas. 18 Antes dessa época, eram responsáveis pela Porta do Rei, do lado leste. Eram guardas das portas dos acampamentos dos levitas. 19 Salum era filho de Coré, descendente de Abiasafe, do clã de Corá. Ele e seus parentes, os coraítas, eram responsáveis por guardar a entrada do santuário, como seus antepassados haviam guardado a entrada do tabernáculo.

20 Naquele tempo, Fineias, filho de Eleazar, era o encarregado dos guardas das portas, e o Senhor estava com ele. 21 Mais tarde, Zacarias, filho de Meselemias, foi o responsável por guardar a entrada.

22 Ao todo, havia 212 guardas das portas naquele tempo, e foram listados nos registros genealógicos de seus povoados. Os antepassados deles haviam sido nomeados por Davi e por Samuel, o vidente, porque eram homens de confiança. 23 Esses guardas das portas e seus descendentes, conforme suas divisões, eram responsáveis por guardar a entrada da casa do Senhor quando ela era uma tenda. 24 Os guardas das portas ficavam nos quatro lados: leste, oeste, norte e sul. 25 Seus parentes nos povoados vinham de tempo em tempo dividir essa responsabilidade com eles por períodos de sete dias.

26 Os quatro principais guardas das portas, todos levitas, eram oficiais de confiança, pois eram responsáveis pelas salas e pelos tesouros da casa de Deus. 27 Passavam a noite ao redor da casa de Deus, pois era seu dever guardá-la e abrir suas portas todas as manhãs.

28 Alguns dos guardas das portas foram nomeados para cuidar dos diversos objetos usados no culto. Conferiam tudo que era retirado e devolvido, para que nada se perdesse. 29 Outros eram responsáveis pela mobília, pelos utensílios do santuário e pelos suprimentos, como farinha da melhor qualidade, vinho, azeite, incenso e especiarias. 30 Eram os sacerdotes, porém, que misturavam as especiarias. 31 Matitias, levita e filho mais velho de Salum, o coraíta, era encarregado de assar os pães para as ofertas. 32 E alguns membros do clã de Coate eram encarregados de preparar os pães colocados sobre a mesa todos os sábados.

33 Os músicos, todos chefes de famílias levitas, moravam no templo. Eram isentos de outras responsabilidades, pois realizavam seu serviço dia e noite. 34 Todos esses homens moravam em Jerusalém. Eram chefes de famílias levitas, listados como líderes nos registros genealógicos.

35 Jeiel, pai de Gibeom, morava na cidade de Gibeom. Sua esposa se chamava Maaca, 36 e seu filho mais velho, Abdom. Os outros filhos de Jeiel foram: Zur, Quis, Baal, Ner, Nadabe, 37 Gedor, Aiô, Zacarias e Miclote. 38 Miclote gerou Simeão. Todos moravam com suas famílias, próximos uns dos outros, em Jerusalém.

39 Ner gerou Quis.

Quis gerou Saul.

Os filhos de Saul foram: Jônatas, Malquisua, Abinadabe e Isbosete.

40 Jônatas gerou Mefibosete.

Mefibosete gerou Mica.

41 Os filhos de Mica foram: Pitom, Meleque, Tareia e Acaz.

42 Acaz gerou Jadá.

Os filhos de Jadá foram: Alemete, Azmavete e Zinri.

Zinri gerou Moza.

43 Moza gerou Bineá.

O filho de Bineá foi Refaías.

O filho de Refaías foi Eleasá.

O filho de Eleasá foi Azel.

44 Estes foram os seis filhos de Azel: Azricão, Bocru, Ismael, Searias, Obadias e Hanã. Todos esses foram filhos de Azel.

1 So all Israel were listed by genealogies; and behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel. Judah was carried away captive to Babylon for their disobedience. 2 Now the first inhabitants who lived in their possessions in their cities were Israel, the priests, the Levites, and the temple servants. 3 In Jerusalem, there lived of the children of Judah, of the children of Benjamin, and of the children of Ephraim and Manasseh: 4 Uthai the son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, of the children of Perez the son of Judah. 5 Of the Shilonites: Asaiah the firstborn and his sons. 6 Of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel and their brothers, six hundred ninety. 7 Of the sons of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hassenuah; 8 and Ibneiah the son of Jeroham, and Elah the son of Uzzi, the son of Michri; and Meshullam the son of Shephatiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah; 9 and their brothers, according to their generations, nine hundred fifty-six. All these men were heads of fathers’ households by their fathers’ houses.

10 Of the priests: Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, Jachin, 11 and Azariah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the ruler of God’s house; 12 and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah; and Maasai the son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer; 13 and their brothers, heads of their fathers’ houses, one thousand seven hundred sixty; they were very able men for the work of the service of God’s house.

14 Of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari; 15 and Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal, and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zichri, the son of Asaph, 16 and Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun; and Berechiah the son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites.

17 The gatekeepers: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their brothers (Shallum was the chief), 18 who previously served in the king’s gate eastward. They were the gatekeepers for the camp of the children of Levi. 19 Shallum was the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brothers, of his father’s house, the Korahites, were over the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent. Their fathers had been over Yahweh’s camp, keepers of the entry. 20 Phinehas the son of Eleazar was ruler over them in time past, and Yahweh was with him. 21 Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper of the door of the Tent of Meeting. 22 All these who were chosen to be gatekeepers in the thresholds were two hundred twelve. These were listed by genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel the seer ordained in their office of trust. 23 So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of Yahweh’s house, even the house of the tent, as guards. 24 On the four sides were the gatekeepers, toward the east, west, north, and south. 25 Their brothers, in their villages, were to come in every seven days from time to time to be with them, 26 for the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were in an office of trust, and were over the rooms and over the treasuries in God’s house. 27 They stayed around God’s house, because that was their duty; and it was their duty to open it morning by morning.

28 Certain of them were in charge of the vessels of service, for these were brought in by count, and these were taken out by count. 29 Some of them also were appointed over the furniture, and over all the vessels of the sanctuary, over the fine flour, the wine, the oil, the frankincense, and the spices.

30 Some of the sons of the priests prepared the mixing of the spices. 31 Mattithiah, one of the Levites, who was the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, had the office of trust over the things that were baked in pans. 32 Some of their brothers, of the sons of the Kohathites, were over the show bread, to prepare it every Sabbath.

33 These are the singers, heads of fathers’ households of the Levites, who lived in the rooms and were free from other service, for they were employed in their work day and night. 34 These were heads of fathers’ households of the Levites, throughout their generations, chief men. They lived at Jerusalem.

35 Jeiel the father of Gibeon, whose wife’s name was Maacah, lived in Gibeon. 36 His firstborn son was Abdon, then Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab, 37 Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah, and Mikloth. 38 Mikloth became the father of Shimeam. They also lived with their relatives in Jerusalem, near their relatives. 39 Ner became the father of Kish. Kish became the father of Saul. Saul became the father of Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal. 40 The son of Jonathan was Merib-baal. Merib-baal became the father of Micah. 41 The sons of Micah: Pithon, Melech, Tahrea, and Ahaz. 42 Ahaz became the father of Jarah. Jarah became the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. Zimri became the father of Moza. 43 Moza became the father of Binea, Rephaiah his son, Eleasah his son, and Azel his son. 44 Azel had six sons, whose names are Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan. These were the sons of Azel.
