1 O Senhor disse a Moisés: 2 "Dê as seguintes instruções ao povo de Israel. Se uma mulher engravidar e der à luz um filho, ficará cerimonialmente impura por sete dias, como acontece durante a menstruação. 3 No oitavo dia, circuncidem o menino. 4 Depois de esperar 33 dias, a mulher estará purificada do sangramento do parto. Durante o período de purificação, não deverá tocar em coisa alguma que seja consagrada. Também não poderá entrar no santuário enquanto não terminar o período de purificação. 5 Se a mulher der à luz uma filha, ficará cerimonialmente impura por duas semanas, como acontece durante a menstruação. Depois de esperar 66 dias, estará purificada do sangramento do parto.

6 "Quando se completar o tempo de purificação pelo nascimento de um filho ou de uma filha, a mulher levará um cordeiro de um ano como holocausto e um pombinho ou rolinha para a oferta pelo pecado. Levará as ofertas ao sacerdote à entrada da tenda do encontro. 7 O sacerdote as apresentará ao Senhor para fazer expiação pela mulher. Ela voltará a ficar cerimonialmente pura depois do sangramento do parto. Essas são as instruções para a mulher depois do nascimento de um filho ou de uma filha.

8 "Se a mulher não tiver condições de levar um cordeiro, levará duas rolinhas ou dois pombinhos. Um será para o holocausto, e o outro, para a oferta pelo pecado. O sacerdote os sacrificará para fazer expiação pela mulher, e ela ficará cerimonialmente pura".

1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 2 "Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘If a woman conceives, and bears a male child, then she shall be unclean seven days; as in the days of her monthly period she shall be unclean. 3 In the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised. 4 She shall continue in the blood of purification thirty-three days. She shall not touch any holy thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying are completed. 5 But if she bears a female child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her period; and she shall continue in the blood of purification sixty-six days.

6 "‘When the days of her purification are completed for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring to the priest at the door of the Tent of Meeting, a year old lamb for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon or a turtledove, for a sin offering. 7 He shall offer it before Yahweh, and make atonement for her; then she shall be cleansed from the fountain of her blood.

"‘This is the law for her who bears, whether a male or a female. 8 If she cannot afford a lamb, then she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons: the one for a burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering. The priest shall make atonement for her, and she shall be clean.’"
