1 Foi Deus mesmo quem, na sua misericórdia, nos deu a missão de anunciar as boas novas, e é por isso que nunca desanimamos.2 Rejeitamos tudo o que seja processos dissimulados e vergonhosos; também não tentamos alterar o sentido da palavra de Deus. Antes expomos toda a verdade, na presença de Deus, de tal forma que ninguém de consciência honesta poderá ter alguma coisa a dizer de nós.3 Se o evangelho que pregamos é ainda coisa velada e obscura, certamente que o é para os que se encontram no caminho da perdição, pois que o recusam4 Satanás, que é o deus deste mundo, foi quem os cegou, quem os tornou incapazes de verem a luz gloriosa das boas novas e de compreender a maravilhosa mensagem da glória de Cristo, que é a imagem de Deus.5 Porque não andamos a fazer propaganda de nós próprios, antes anunciamos Cristo Jesus como Senhor. Nós somos vossos servos por amor de Jesus6 Porque Deus, que mandou a luz resplandecer nas trevas, foi quem iluminou os nossos corações a fim de conhecermos a glória divina que resplandece na face de Jesus Cristo.7 E este precioso tesouro está contido como num recipiente de barro, ou seja os nossos corpos fracos. E assim toda a gente pode ver que esse maravilhoso poder é mesmo de Deus, não vem de nós.8 Somos atribulados de toda a maneira, mas não definitivamente esmagados; perplexos mas não desanimados9 Somos perseguidos, mas não desamparados por Deus. Somos derrubados, mas levantamo-nos e prosseguimos10 Tal como o Senhor Jesus, o nosso corpo enfrenta constantemente a morte, a fim de que a vida de Jesus se manifeste também nos nossos corpos.11 Sim, vivemos em constante perigo de vida por servirmos o Senhor, mas isso dá-nos constantes oportunidades da vida de Jesus Cristo se manifestar nos nossos corpos mortais.12 É certo que enfrentamos a morte, mas daí resulta que a vida eterna vos é oferecida.13 Estamos animados do mesmo espírito de fé que o Salmista, que dizia: Acreditei, e é por isso que falo. Nós também cremos, por isso falamos.14 Sabemos que o mesmo Deus que ressuscitou o Senhor Jesus nos conduzirá também até à vida junto de Jesus, e nos fará comparecer convosco na sua presença15 E, assim, tudo aquilo por que passamos contribui para o vosso bem. E quantos mais dentre vocês forem ganhos pela graça de Cristo, tantos mais serão aqueles que lhe darão graças pela sua bondade, e tanto mais será Deus glorificado.16 Por isso nunca desanimamos. E ainda que o nosso corpo fisicamente envelheça, interiormente contudo ele renova-se, com novas forças, dia após dia.17 Estas tribulações por que passamos, no fim de contas relativamente leves e passageiras, resultam numa abundância de ricas bênçãos de Deus, agora aqui, e para toda a eternidade.18 E assim não nos prendemos com as coisas do tempo em que vivemos, mas procuramos fixarmo-nos naquelas que ainda não vemos. Porque as coisas desta vida passarão um dia; mas as realidades de Deus permanecem eternamente.

1 Therefore, seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty; not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but, by manifestation of the truth, commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.3 But if our gospel is hid, it is hid to them that are lost:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine to them.5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined into our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God, and not from us.8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be made manifest in our body.11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus may be made manifest in our mortal flesh.12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you.13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;14 Knowing, that he who raised the Lord Jesus, will raise us also by Jesus, and will present us with you.15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace may, through the thanksgiving of many, redound to the glory of God.16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man is wasted, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh out for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
