1 E finalmente o anjo mostrou-me o rio da água da vida, limpa e cristalina, que vinha do trono de Deus e do Cordeiro,2 e que fluía pelo meio da rua principal da cidade. De cada lado do rio crescia a árvore da vida, que produz doze variedades de frutos, um em cada mês do ano; as suas folhas são utilizadas para curar as nações.3 Ali não haverá mais maldição porque o trono de Deus e o do Cordeiro ali estarão. Os seus servos o adorarão,4 e verão directamente o seu rosto. Terão gravado nas testas o nome de Deus.5 Ali nunca mais haverá noite; e assim não serão precisos candeeiros. E tão-pouco o Sol é necessário, porque o Senhor Deus é a sua luz. E eles reinarão com o seu Deus, para sempre.6 O anjo disse-me: Estas palavras são inteiramente dignas de confiança e verdadeiras. Deus, o Senhor, que inspirou os homens santos que falaram em seu nome, foi quem enviou agora o seu anjo para mostrar, a todos aqueles que põem as suas vidas ao seu serviço, as coisas que hão-de acontecer brevemente.7 Atenção, porque o meu regresso está próximo! Feliz é aquele que guarda no coração as palavras deste livro.8 Eu, João, sou aquele que vi e ouvi todas estas coisas. E quando as vi e ouvi, lancei-me por terra para adorar o anjo que me tinha mostrado tudo aquilo.9 Mas ele impediu-me: Não, não faças tal coisa! Porque eu sou teu companheiro de serviço, assim como dos teus irmãos, os que pregam em nome do Senhor, e de todos os que aceitam o que está revelado neste livro. Só Deus deves adorar.10 Não mantenhas em segredo as revelações que acabaste de pôr por escrito, mandou-me ele. Porque já está próximo o tempo em que elas se vão cumprir.11 Quem pratica o pecado que continue a praticá-lo. Quem é mau que continue a sê-lo. Quem é justo continue a ser justo. Quem é santo que se torne ainda mais santo.12 Eu virei em breve, trazendo a recompensa que cada um merece de acordo com as suas obras13 Eu sou o A e o Z, o primeiro e o último, a origem e o fim de tudo.14 Felizes são todos os que lavam as suas roupas, para que tenham direito de entrar na cidade pelas portas e de comer do fruto da árvore da vida.15 Mas ficarão de fora os cães (os impuros e inimigos de Deus), assim como os que se dedicam à feitiçaria e ao ocultismo, e os que praticam imoralidade sexual, e os assassinos, e os que praticam idolatria, e todos os que mentem e amam a mentira.16 Eu, Jesus, enviei o meu anjo para vos revelar todas estas coisas, destinadas às igrejas. Eu constituo a própria raiz e o descendente de David! Eu sou a radiosa estrela da manhã!17 O Espírito Santo e a esposa dizem: Vem! E quem ouvir este apelo diga também: Vem! Quem tem sede, que se aproxime; que todo aquele que quiser beba de graça da água da vida.18 Eu declaro solenemente a todo aquele que ouvir as palavras deste livro que, se alguém lhes acrescentar alguma coisa, Deus o castigará com as pragas que nele estão escritas19 E se alguém tirar, seja o que for, às palavras proféticas deste livro, Deus lhe retirará a sua participação na árvore da vida, e na cidade santa, que estão descritas neste livro.20 Aquele que revelou estas coisas afirma: Sim, em breve voltarei!Que assim seja! Pois vem, Senhor Jesus!21 Que Jesus Cristo, o Senhor, vos conceda a todos a sua graça. Amém.

1 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.2 In the midst of the street of it, and on each side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bore twelve kinds of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.6 And he said to me, These sayings are faithful and true. And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to show to his servants the things which must shortly be done.7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.9 Then saith he to me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them who keep the sayings of this book: worship God.10 And he saith to me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he who is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.12 And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give to every man according as his work shall be.13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and lewd men, and murderers, and idolaters, and whoever loveth and maketh a lie.16 I Jesus have sent my angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning-star.17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth, say, Come. And let him that is thirsty, come: And whoever will, let him take the water of life freely.18 For I testify to every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, if any man shall add to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.20 He who testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly: Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
