1 Não deixem nunca de se amar com amor de irmãos.2 Não se esqueçam da hospitalidade, porque foi assim que alguns hospedaram anjos, sem o saber.3 Lembrem-se dos presos como se estivessem presos com eles; e dos que são maltratados como se fossem vocês mesmos a sofrer.4 Que o casamento seja por todos respeitado, assim como a fidelidade entre os esposos. Deus castigará sem falta os que se entregam à prostituição e cometem adultério.5 Fujam do amor ao dinheiro; contentem-se com o que têm, porque Deus disse: Não te deixarei, nem te abandonarei.6 É por isso que podemos afirmar com toda a segurança: O Senhor é aquele que me ajuda. Não terei medo do que o homem me possa fazer.7 Lembrem-se dos vossos pastores, que vos têm ensinado a palavra de Deus. Procurem imitar a fé deles, observando a sua maneira de viver.8 Jesus Cristo é o mesmo ontem, hoje e para sempre.9 Não se deixem levar por doutrinas várias e não inspiradas por Deus. Pois que a vossa força espiritual é uma dádiva da bondade de Deus, e não o resultado de rituais sobre alimentos, que de nada aproveitam aos que se submetem a eles.10 Temos um altar no qual os que continuam a observar a antiga aliança não têm direito de participar.11 No sistema das leis judaicas, o supremo sacerdote trazia o sangue dos animais sacrificados para o santuário, como um sacrifício pelo pecado, e depois os corpos desses mesmos animais eram queimados fora do acampamento.12 Foi por isso que Jesus também sofreu, vertendo o seu próprio sangue para nos purificar do pecado, mas fê-lo igualmente fora da cidade.13 Vamos então ter com ele, lá fora, para com ele partilhar do desprezo que o mundo lhe vota.214 Porque não é neste mundo que temos a nossa verdadeira pátria; essa é futura.15 Ofereçamos então continuamente a Deus - por intermédio de Jesus - sacrifícios de louvor, que consistem essencialmente nos frutos de bocas que proclamam a glória do seu nome.16 Não se esqueçam também de fazer o bem e de repartir com outros, pois com esses sacrifícios também Deus se agrada.17 Obedeçam aos vossos pastores, aceitando as suas directivas; porque eles procuram estar atentos às vossas almas, tendo de dar conta delas a Deus. Que eles o possam fazer com alegria; não a custo, pois isso não vos seria útil.18 Orem por nós. Sabemos que a nossa consciência está limpa, pois em tudo nos temos conduzidos com honestidade.19 Eu peço-vos com insistência que continuem a orar por mim, para que possa ir ter convosco o mais breve possível.20 Que o Deus de paz, que ressuscitou nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, o grande pastor do rebanho, o qual selou com o seu sangue o pacto eterno, vos aperfeiçoe em tudo para fazerem a sua vontade, fazendo surgir nas vossas vidas tudo o que lhe é agradável, através de Cristo Jesus. A ele seja dada glória para todo o sempre! Que assim seja!22 Rogo-vos, irmãos, que atentem cuidadosamente para as palavras de exortação desta carta, que vos escrevi abreviadamente.23 Dou-vos a conhecer que o irmão Timóteo já saiu da prisão, com o qual - se vier a tempo - vos irei visitar.24 Dêem saudações a todos os vossos pastores e a todos os crentes em geral. Os cristãos da Itália vos saúdam.25 Que a graça de Deus seja com todos vocês.

1 Let brotherly love continue.2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for by this some have entertained angels unawares.3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them who suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.4 Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but lewd persons and adulterers God will judge.5 Let your manner of life be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me.7 Remember them who have the rule over you, who have spoken to you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their manner of life.8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to-day, and for ever.9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines: for it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied in them.10 We have an altar, of which they have no right to eat who serve the tabernacle.11 For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.13 Let us go forth therefore to him without the camp, bearing his reproach.14 For here we have no continuing city, but we seek one to come.15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to his name.16 But to do good, and to communicate, forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.18 Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.19 But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.22 And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter to you in few words.23 Know ye, that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you.24 Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints.
