1 Ia a sair do templo naquele dia e um dos discípulos observou: Mestre, que belas edificações estas! Olha para estas pedras!2 Jesus respondeu:Estes magníficos edifícios serão completamente destruídos; não ficará pedra sobre pedra.3 Quando se sentou na encosta do Monte das Oliveiras do outro lado do vale, defronte de Jerusálem, Pedro, Tiago, João e André ficaram sozinhos com ele e perguntaram-lhe: Quando acontecerá isso ao templo? Haverá algum aviso antes que venha essa ocasião?5 A esta pergunta, Jesus respondeu desta forma: Não deixem que alguém vos engane, porque aparecerão vários dizendo serem o Messias e enganarão a muitos.7 Haverá guerras perto e longe, mas não se assustem. Tais coisas devem acontecer, mas o fim ainda está para vir.8 Porque povos e nações declararão guerra uns aos outros, e haverá terramotos e fomes em muitos países. Isto anunciará apenas as primeiras angústias. O pior virá depois.9 Mas, quando estas coisas começarem a acontecer, tenham cuidado porque estarão em grande perigo. Serão arrastados perante os tribunais, e espancados nas sinagogas, e acusados diante de autoridades e de governantes de serem meus seguidores. Terão, assim, ocasião de lhes anunciar a boa nova.10 Porque este evangelho deverá primeiro ser pregado a todas as nações.11 Mas, quando forem presos e julgados, não se preocupem com o que vão dizer em vossa defesa. Falem apenas o que Deus vos mandar, pois nessa hora não falarão vocês, mas o Espírito Santo.12 Irmãos denunciar-se-ão uns aos outros, para serem mortos. Pais entregarão os seus próprios filhos, e filhos acusarão os seus próprios pais. Toda a gente vos odiará pelo facto de serem meus. Mas quem resistir até ao fim será salvo!14 Quando virem a abominação assoladora instalada onde não deve estar - quem lê, entenda! - fujam para as montanhas da Judeia. Apressem-se! Quem estiver no seu terraço não entre sequer de novo em casa. Quem estiver nos campos não volte para buscar roupa17 Ai das grávidas, naqueles dias, e das que amamentam. Orem para que a vossa fuga não seja no Inverno. Porque serão dias de horror, tal como nunca houve desde o começo da criação de Deus, nem jamais tornará a haver. E se o Senhor não encurtar aquele tempo de calamidade, ninguém ficará vivo em toda a Terra. Mas por amor dos seus escolhidos, ele encurtará aqueles dias.21 E se então alguém vos disser: 'É este o Messias24 Acabado o sofrimento, o Sol ficará sem brilho e a Lua não terá luz.25 As estrelas cairão e o universo será abalado.26 E então toda a humanidade me verá, o Filho do Homem, vindo no meio de nuvens com grande poder e glória27 E mandarei os anjos juntar os meus escolhidos de todos os cantos do mundo, desde os pontos mais distantes da Terra até ao céu.28 Atentem nesta lição que nos ensina a figueira. Quando os rebentos ficam tenros e as folhas começam a crescer, sabem que o Verão está próximo.29 E quando virem acontecer estas coisas que vos contei, podem estar certos de que o meu regresso está muito próximo e que me encontro já às portas.30 Sim, são estes os acontecimentos que se darão antes do fim dos tempos . O céu e a Terra desaparecerão, mas as minha palavras permanecem para sempre.32 Contudo, ninguém sabe, nem sequer os anjos do céu, nem eu próprio , o dia ou hora em que estas coisas acontecerão. Só o Pai. Portanto, como não sabem quando isto se passará, conservem-se alerta, vigilantes.34 A minha vinda pode ser comparada com a de um homem que foi de viagem para outro país e que, distribuindo as tarefas que os empregados deveriam fazer durante a sua ausência, disse ao porteiro que vigiasse o que se passava à sua volta. Vigiem bem, porque não sabem quando virei, se ao anoitecer, se à meia-noite, se de madrugada ou se mais tarde, à luz do dia. Que eu vos não encontre a dormir. Estejam atentos ao meu regresso é a minha recomendação para vocês e para todos os demais.

1 And as he was going out of the temple, one of his disciples saith to him, Master, see what manner of stones, and what buildings are here!2 And Jesus answering said to him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, over against the temple, Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, asked him privately,4 Tell us, when will these things be? and what will be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?5 And Jesus answering them, began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you:6 For many will come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and will deceive many.7 And when ye shall hear of wars, and rumors of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end will not be yet.8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there will be earthquakes in divers places, and there will be famines, and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.9 But take heed to yourselves: for they will deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye will be beaten: and ye will be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.10 And the gospel must first be published among all nations.11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, be not anxious beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Spirit.12 Now the brother will betray the brother to death, and the father the son: and children will rise up against their parents, and will cause them to be put to death.13 And ye will be hated by all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure to the end, the same shall be saved.14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand) then let them that are in Judea flee to the mountains:15 And let him that is on the house-top not go down into the house, neither enter it, to take any thing out of his house:16 And let him that is in the field not turn back again to take up his garment.17 But woe to them that are with child, and to them that nurse infants in those days.18 And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as hath not been from the beginning of the creation which God created to this time, neither shall be.20 And except the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.21 And then, if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or lo, he is there; believe him not.22 For false Christs, and false prophets will rise, and will show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.26 And then they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.27 And then he will send his angels, and will assemble his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.28 Now learn a parable of the fig-tree: When its branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:29 So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors.30 Verily I say to you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things shall be done.31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.34 For the son of man is as a man taking a long journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work; and commanded the porter to watch.35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at evening, or at midnight, or at the cock-crowing, or in the morning:36 Lest coming suddenly, he should find you sleeping.37 And what I say to you, I say to all, Watch.
