1 And, when they drew near unto Jerusalem, and came unto Bethphage, unto the Mount of Olives, then, Jesus sent forth two disciples;2 saying unto themBe going into the village that is over against you, and, straightway, ye shall find an ass, bound, and a colt with her,loose them, and lead them unto me.3 And, if anyone, unto you, say aught, ye shall sayTheir Lord, hath, need,and, straightway, he will send them.4 But, this, hath come to pass, that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken through the prophet, saying:5 Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Lo! thy King, is coming unto thee, meek and mounted upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of a toiling ass.6 And the disciples, went, and did as Jesus directed them;7 and led the ass and the colt, and laid upon them their garments, and he took his seat upon them.8 And, the chief multitude, spread their own mantles in the way, and, others, were cutting off young branches from the trees, and spreading them in the way;9 and the multitudes, they who were going before him and they who were following after, were crying aloud, sayingHosanna! to the Son of David, Blessed is he that is coming in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest.10 And, when he entered into Jerusalem, all the city was startled, sayingWho is this?11 And, the multitudes, were sayingThis, is the prophet Jesus,He from Nazareth of Galilee.12 And Jesus entered into the temple, and cast out all who were selling and buying in the temple,and, the tables of the money-changers, he overthrew, and the seats of them who were selling doves;13 and saith unto themIt is written, My house, a house of prayer, shall be called; but, ye, are making it, A den of robbers!14 And there came unto him blind and lame, in the temple, and he cured them.15 But the Chief-priests and the Scribes, seeing, the marvels that he wrought, and the boys who were crying aloud in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David! were greatly displeased;16 and said unto himHearest thou what these are saying? And, Jesus, saith unto themYea: Have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings, hast thou prepared praise?17 And, leaving them behind, he went forth outside the city into Bethany, and spent the night there.18 And, early, returning into the city, he hungered;19 and, seeing one fig-tree by the way, he came up to it, and nothing, found he thereon, save leaves only,and he saith unto itNo more, from thee, let fruit spring forth, unto times age-abiding,and the fig-tree, instantly withered away.20 And the disciples, seeing it, marvelled, sayingHow instantly, did the fig-tree wither away.21 And Jesus, answering, said unto themVerily, I say unto you, If ye have faith, and do not doubt, not only, this of the fig-tree, shall ye do,but, even if, unto this mountain, ye shall say, Be lifted up, and be cast into the sea, it shall be done.22 And, all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.23 And, when he, entered, the temple, the Chief-priests and the Elders of the people, came unto him as he was teaching, saying, By what authority, these things, art thou doing? and, who, to thee, gave, this authority?24 And, making answer, Jesus said unto themI also, will ask, you, one thing,which if ye tell me, I also, will tell, you, by what authority, these things, I am doing:25 The immersion by John, whence was it? Of heaven, or of men? But, they, began to deliberate among themselves, sayingIf we say, Of heaven; He will say unto us, Wherefore then did ye not believe him?26 But, if we say, Of men, we fear the multitude, for, all, as a prophet, are holding John.27 And, making answer to Jesus, they saidWe know not. He also, said unto themNeither do, I, tell, you, by what authority, these things, I am doing.28 But how, to you, doth it seem? A man, had two sons: coming unto the first, he said, Son! go thy way, to-day, be working in the vineyard.29 And, he, answering, said, I, sir! and went not;30 And, coming unto the second, he spake, in like manner,and, he, answering, said, I will not: afterwards, smitten with regret, he went.31 Which of the two, did the will of the father? They say, The latter. Jesus saith unto themVerily, I say unto you, the tax-collectors and the harlots, are going before you, into the kingdom of God;32 For John came unto you, in a way of righteousness, and ye believed him not,but, the tax-collectors and the harlots, believed him; and, ye, seeing it, were not even smitten with regret, afterwards, so as to believe him.33 Another parable, hear ye:A man there was, a householder, who planted a vineyard, and, a wall around it, placed, and digged in it a wine-vat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen,and left home.34 And, when the season of fruits drew near, He sent forth his servants unto the husbandmen to receive his fruits.35 And the husbandmen, taking his servants, one, indeed, they beat, and, another, slew,and, another, stoned.36 Again, sent he forth other servants, more than the first, and they did unto them, likewise.37 Afterwards, however, he sent forth unto them his son, saying,They will pay deference unto my son!38 But, the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves,This, is, the heir: Come on! Let us slay him, and have his inheritance.39 And, taking him, they cast him forth outside the vineyard,and slew him.40 When therefore the master of the vineyard shall come, what will he do unto those husbandmen?41 They say unto himMiserable men! Miserably, will he destroy them; and will let out, the vineyard, to other husbandmen, who will render unto him the fruits in their seasons.42 Jesus saith unto themHave ye, never, read in the Scriptures, A stone which the builders rejected, the same, hath become, head of the corner: From the Lord, hath this come to pass, and is marvellous in our eyes.43 Wherefore I say unto you, The kingdom of God, will be taken away from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof:44 And, he that falleth on this stone, will be sorely bruised; but, on whomsoever it may fall, it will utterly destroy him.45 And the Chief-priests and the Pharisees, hearing his parables, took note, that, concerning them, he was speaking.46 And, seeking to secure him, they feared the multitudes; since, for a prophet, were they holding him.

1 E, quando se aproximaram de Jerusalém e chegaram a Betfagé, ao monte das Oliveiras, enviou, então, Jesus dois discípulos, dizendo-lhes: 2 Ide à aldeia que está defronte de vós e logo encontrareis uma jumenta presa e um jumentinho com ela; desprendei-a e trazei-mos. 3 E, se alguém vos disser alguma coisa, direis que o Senhor precisa deles; e logo os enviará. 4 Ora, tudo isso aconteceu para que se cumprisse o que foi dito pelo profeta, que diz: 5 Dizei à filha de Sião: Eis que o teu Rei aí te vem, humilde e assentado sobre uma jumenta e sobre um jumentinho, filho de animal de carga. 6 E, indo os discípulos e fazendo como Jesus lhes ordenara, 7 trouxeram a jumenta e o jumentinho, e sobre eles puseram as suas vestes, e fizeram-no assentar em cima. 8 E muitíssima gente estendia as suas vestes pelo caminho, e outros cortavam ramos de árvores e os espalhavam pelo caminho. 9 E as multidões, tanto as que iam adiante como as que o seguiam, clamavam, dizendo: Hosana ao Filho de Davi! Bendito o que vem em nome do Senhor! Hosana nas alturas! 10 E, entrando ele em Jerusalém, toda a cidade se alvoroçou, dizendo: Quem é este? 11 E a multidão dizia: Este é Jesus, o Profeta de Nazaré da Galileia.

12 E entrou Jesus no templo de Deus, e expulsou todos os que vendiam e compravam no templo, e derribou as mesas dos cambistas e as cadeiras dos que vendiam pombas. 13 E disse-lhes: Está escrito: A minha casa será chamada casa de oração. Mas vós a tendes convertido em covil de ladrões.

14 E foram ter com ele ao templo cegos e coxos, e curou-os. 15 Vendo, então, os principais dos sacerdotes e os escribas as maravilhas que fazia e os meninos clamando no templo: Hosana ao Filho de Davi, indignaram-se 16 e disseram-lhe: Ouves o que estes dizem? E Jesus lhes disse: Sim; nunca lestes: Pela boca dos meninos e das criancinhas de peito tiraste o perfeito louvor? 17 E, deixando-os, saiu da cidade para Betânia e ali passou a noite.

18 E, de manhã, voltando para a cidade, teve fome. 19 E, avistando uma figueira perto do caminho, dirigiu-se a ela e não achou nela senão folhas. E disse-lhe: Nunca mais nasça fruto de ti. E a figueira secou imediatamente. 20 E os discípulos, vendo isso, maravilharam-se, dizendo: Como secou imediatamente a figueira? 21 Jesus, porém, respondendo, disse-lhes: Em verdade vos digo que, se tiverdes fé e não duvidardes, não só fareis o que foi feito à figueira, mas até, se a este monte disserdes: Ergue-te e precipita-te no mar, assim será feito. 22 E tudo o que pedirdes na oração, crendo, o recebereis.

23 E, chegando ao templo, acercaram-se dele, estando já ensinando, os príncipes dos sacerdotes e os anciãos do povo, dizendo: Com que autoridade fazes isso? E quem te deu tal autoridade? 24 E Jesus, respondendo, disse-lhes: Eu também vos perguntarei uma coisa; se ma disserdes, também eu vos direi com que autoridade faço isso. 25 O batismo de João donde era? Do céu ou dos homens? E pensavam entre si, dizendo: Se dissermos: do céu, ele nos dirá: Então, por que não o crestes? 26 E, se dissermos: dos homens, tememos o povo, porque todos consideram João como profeta. 27 E, respondendo a Jesus, disseram: Não sabemos. Ele disse-lhes: Nem eu vos digo com que autoridade faço isso.

28 Mas que vos parece? Um homem tinha dois filhos e, dirigindo-se ao primeiro, disse: Filho, vai trabalhar hoje na minha vinha. 29 Ele, porém, respondendo, disse: Não quero. Mas, depois, arrependendo-se, foi. 30 E, dirigindo-se ao segundo, falou-lhe de igual modo; e, respondendo ele, disse: Eu vou, senhor; e não foi. 31 Qual dos dois fez a vontade do pai? Disseram-lhe eles: O primeiro. Disse-lhes Jesus: Em verdade vos digo que os publicanos e as meretrizes entram adiante de vós no Reino de Deus. 32 Porque João veio a vós no caminho de justiça, e não o crestes, mas os publicanos e as meretrizes o creram; vós, porém, vendo isso, nem depois vos arrependestes para o crer.

33 Ouvi, ainda, outra parábola: Houve um homem, pai de família, que plantou uma vinha, e circundou-a de um valado, e construiu nela um lagar, e edificou uma torre, e arrendou-a a uns lavradores, e ausentou-se para longe. 34 E, chegando o tempo dos frutos, enviou os seus servos aos lavradores, para receber os seus frutos. 35 E os lavradores, apoderando-se dos servos, feriram um, mataram outro e apedrejaram outro. 36 Depois, enviou outros servos, em maior número do que os primeiros; e eles fizeram-lhes o mesmo. 37 E, por último, enviou-lhes seu filho, dizendo: Terão respeito a meu filho. 38 Mas os lavradores, vendo o filho, disseram entre si: Este é o herdeiro; vinde, matemo-lo e apoderemo-nos da sua herança. 39 E, lançando mão dele, o arrastaram para fora da vinha e o mataram. 40 Quando, pois, vier o Senhor da vinha, que fará àqueles lavradores? 41 Dizem-lhe eles: Dará afrontosa morte aos maus e arrendará a vinha a outros lavradores, que, a seu tempo, lhe deem os frutos.

42 Diz-lhes Jesus: Nunca lestes nas Escrituras: A pedra que os edificadores rejeitaram, essa foi posta por cabeça do ângulo; pelo Senhor foi feito isso e é maravilhoso aos nossos olhos? 43 Portanto, eu vos digo que o Reino de Deus vos será tirado e será dado a uma nação que dê os seus frutos. 44 E quem cair sobre esta pedra despedaçar-se-á; e aquele sobre quem ela cair ficará reduzido a pó.

45 E os príncipes dos sacerdotes e os fariseus, ouvindo essas palavras, entenderam que falava deles; 46 e, pretendendo prendê-lo, recearam o povo, porquanto o tinham por profeta.
