1 And the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying,2 "Thus says the LORD of hosts: I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath.3 Thus says the LORD: I will return to Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem, and Jerusalem shall be called the faithful city, and the mountain of the LORD of hosts, the holy mountain.4 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Old men and old women shall again sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each with staff in hand for very age.5 And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its streets.6 Thus says the LORD of hosts: If it is marvelous in the sight of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvelous in my sight, says the LORD of hosts?7 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Behold, I will save my people from the east country and from the west country;8 and I will bring them to dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and they shall be my people and I will be their God, in faithfulness and in righteousness."9 Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Let your hands be strong, you who in these days have been hearing these words from the mouth of the prophets, since the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.10 For before those days there was no wage for man or any wage for beast, neither was there any safety from the foe for him who went out or came in; for I set every man against his fellow.11 But now I will not deal with the remnant of this people as in the former days, says the LORD of hosts.12 For there shall be a sowing of peace; the vine shall yield its fruit, and the ground shall give its increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.13 And as you have been a byword of cursing among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you and you shall be a blessing. Fear not, but let your hands be strong."14 For thus says the LORD of hosts: "As I purposed to do evil to you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, and I did not relent, says the LORD of hosts,15 so again have I purposed in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah; fear not.16 These are the things that you shall do: Speak the truth to one another, render in your gates judgments that are true and make for peace,17 do not devise evil in your hearts against one another, and love no false oath, for all these things I hate, says the LORD."18 And the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying,19 "Thus says the LORD of hosts: The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah seasons of joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love truth and peace.20 "Thus says the LORD of hosts: Peoples shall yet come, even the inhabitants of many cities;21 the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, `Let us go at once to entreat the favor of the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts; I am going.'22 Many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat the favor of the LORD.23 Thus says the LORD of hosts: In those days ten men from the nations of every tongue shall take hold of the robe of a Jew, saying, `Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.'"

1 O Senhor Todo-Poderoso falou comigo e disse:

2 — Eu tenho um grande amor por Jerusalém, um amor que me faz ficar irado contra os seus inimigos. 3 Eu voltarei para Jerusalém e ali morarei. Então Jerusalém será chamada de "Cidade Fiel", e o monte do Senhor Todo-Poderoso será chamado de "Monte Santo". 4 Mais uma vez, os velhinhos e as velhinhas, com as suas bengalas na mão, vão se sentar nas praças de Jerusalém. 5 E as praças ficarão cheias de meninos e meninas brincando. 6 Isso pode parecer impossível aos que voltaram do cativeiro na Babilônia, mas não é impossível para mim, o Senhor Todo-Poderoso. 7 Vou salvar o meu povo; eu os tirarei dos países do Leste e do Oeste, para onde foram levados como prisioneiros, 8 e os trarei de volta para Jerusalém, onde ficarão morando. Eles serão o meu povo, e eu serei o seu Deus e os governarei com justiça e fidelidade.

9 O Senhor Todo-Poderoso diz:

— Portanto, tenham coragem, todos os que estão ouvindo agora o mesmo que os profetas disseram quando se começou a reconstrução do Templo do Senhor Todo-Poderoso e foram colocados os seus alicerces. 10 Pois até aquele tempo não havia dinheiro para pagar os trabalhadores, e os animais de carga não rendiam dinheiro para os seus donos. Havia tantos inimigos, que ninguém vivia seguro, pois eu fiz com que todos fossem inimigos uns dos outros. 11 Mas eu, o Senhor Todo-Poderoso, prometo que agora não vou tratar os que restam deste povo como fiz no passado. 12 Eles semearão as suas terras em paz; as parreiras darão uvas, a terra dará boas colheitas, e cairá chuva do céu. Darei tudo isso aos que restarem do meu povo. 13 Moradores de Judá e de Israel! No passado os povos de outras nações maldiziam uns aos outros assim: "Que Deus os castigue como castigou o povo de Judá e de Israel!" Mas eu vou salvar vocês, e no futuro aqueles mesmos povos dirão uns aos outros: "Que Deus os abençoe como abençoou o povo de Judá e de Israel!" Não fiquem com medo! Tenham coragem!

14 O Senhor Todo-Poderoso diz ao povo:

— Quando os seus antepassados me fizeram ficar irado, eu os castiguei, como havia resolvido antes. Não mudei de ideia. 15 E agora resolvi abençoar o povo de Jerusalém e de Judá e não vou mudar de ideia. Portanto, não fiquem com medo. 16 São estas as coisas que vocês devem fazer: digam todos a verdade uns aos outros e decidam com justiça os casos nos tribunais a fim de que haja paz. 17 Porém não façam planos para prejudicar uns aos outros e não jurem falso, pois eu, o Senhor, odeio tudo isso.

18 O Senhor Todo-Poderoso falou comigo e disse:

19 — Os jejuns do quarto, quinto, sétimo e décimo meses de cada ano vão virar dias de alegria, dias de festa para o povo de Judá. Portanto, amem a verdade e a paz.

20 O Senhor Todo-Poderoso diz:

— Vai chegar o dia em que moradores de muitas cidades virão até Jerusalém. 21 Os moradores de uma cidade dirão aos de outra cidade: "Nós vamos adorar o Senhor Todo-Poderoso e pedir que ele nos abençoe!" E os outros responderão: "Pois nós vamos com vocês!" 22 Muitos povos e nações poderosas virão a Jerusalém para adorar o Senhor Todo-Poderoso e pedirem que ele os abençoe. 23 Naqueles dias, dez estrangeiros irão agarrar um judeu para lhe dizer: "Nós queremos seguir a sua religião, pois ouvimos dizer que Deus está com vocês."
